The 2017 Pantone Color of the Year is Greenery

The year 2016 was all about balance, with Pantone naming two colors as the Color of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. Now, with 2017 upon us, it's time for a brand new Color of the Year. This year is all about new beginnings, with Pantone announcing Greenery as the 2017 Color of the Year.

In the announcement, Pantone explained that Greenery (PANTONE 15-0343) is a yellow-green shade, "that evokes the first days of spring when nature's greens revive, restore and renew." The hope is that it reminds consumers to, "take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate." With a contentious election that just ended a few weeks ago, and a new president taking office in January, this is certainly an important message to remember and take to heart.

With the 2013 Color of the Year as Emerald Green, perhaps there was even a little message of new beginnings in the return of green after four years, except in a little bit different of a shade.

Pantone also explains that Greenery is, "nature's neutral," found not only in nature, but has also taken an important role globally, from urban planning, to lifestyle and design choices. It is, "an omnipresent hue around the world," that is more important than ever to keep in our hearts and minds when it comes to respecting nature to ensure a world that lasts for generations to come.

As far as pairing Greenery with other shades, it couldn't be easier, so get ready for some prom perfect ideas. Pantone explains that the 2017 Color of the Year is a, "versatile 'trans-seasonal' shade that lends itself to many color combinations." Greenery can be paired with neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels, metallics, and even the 2016 Pantone Color of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity!
