  • A Modern Princess - Beauty and the Beast Belle Yellow Ball Gown

Beautiful inside and out, Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast shines in the yellow dress that everyone identifies her by.   Her classic ball gown has been idolized by girls who grew up with the Disney classic, which makes us all of us, considering the numerous remakes of this iconic tale.  The most recent installment of Beauty and the Beast features Emma Watson, who is frequently recognized as one of the top celebrity trend setters of 2018.

While many young girls love dressing up like Belle in Disney World or for Halloween, us more mature ladies can still find plenty of reason to show our own inner Princess.  If you really love Belle's yellow ball gown style then you've probably been searching for the perfect yellow dress for Prom, Homecoming, or whatever your special occasion may be. To get a modern swing on this timeless style check out style 42044 from world renowned fashion housee Mori Lee. This darling ball gown showcases a flawlessly beaded neckline, as well as an off-the-shoulder scalloped lace ruffle that drapes glamorously over the fitted bodice. Pair this stunning dress with our yellow satin evening gloves to complete this perfect ensemble and ensure that you'll be the "Belle" of the ball.

  • Finding The Perfect Pair of Sunglasses

Whenever I think of sunglasses, I always remember that “one hit wonder” from back in the eighties by a band called Timbuk3, “The Future's So Bright," and Corey Hart's famous song "Sunglasses at Night" (also appropriately from the 1980s). Nowadays, buying a new pair of shades is not only about looking cool (and wearing your sunglasses at night), but also about making an investment in your vision and finding the pair that’s just right for you.

You don’t just want to buy any old pair of sunglasses. You want to purchase a pair that block up to 99% of the UV rays that can harm your eyes from too much exposure. You often hear that term, but it's more important than you may think. Protecting your eyes can diminish the chances of developing major vision problems later in life, like macular degeneration.
When I was a teenager, Ray-Ban sunglasses were all the rage and while they’re still available today, there’s literally hundreds (maybe even thousands) of other brand names to choose from. And what about polarized lenses versus traditionally tinted ones, what’s the difference?

    The Truth About Polarized Lenses

Some people think that polarized lenses offer greater protection against UV rays, but the truth is that normal UV protection sunglasses and polarized sunglasses usually both offer UVA and UVB protection. Polarized lenses offer a different type of defense. Simply put, regular sunglasses are designed to block out direct light, while polarized lenses shield against indirect light, especially that reflected from surfaces like water, snow and metal
This would obviously make a difference for someone who worked on a boat or at a ski lodge. But there’s also some drawbacks to these lenses. First and foremost, they tend to be more expensive. These types of lenses can also make it difficult to view certain types of electronic screens, such as computers, tablets, or a TV. With that said, if you're playing an outdoor sport, the polarized lens can be a great accessory for clear vision.  Continue reading

With only one day down, and only today and tomorrow to go for our Shoes and Accessories Sale, we thought we'd have a little mix and match fun! We picked out one of our favorite summer to fall transitional dresses, La Femme style 22061, and paired it with shoes and accessories that complete the look for perfection.

    La Femme 22061

La Femme 22061, one of La Femme's new Fall 2015 dresses, is such a classic look, with just the right amount of edge, that you can wear it to so many different events, from Homecoming to to a night out with your besties. Since La Femme 22061 is an LBD, this is one dress that's easy to pair with just about any shoes, jewelry, and purse; the most important thing is to make sure the accessories match each other (more than the dress). But, since style 22061 has that classic black lace look to it with the two two-piece trend adding just the right amount of glam, we love to keep the accessories in that range, as well. Check out our favorite accessories to pair below!

Clutch: La Regale RL22003 Stone Clutch - This glam all over stone clutch has an optional 22" drop-in chain strap and a magnetic snap closure. We love the classic black and gold colors of the clutch, with just a hint of glam added with the black stone features.

Bracelet: Pearl Bow Bracelet - A perfectly jeweled bow bangle bracelet with elegant pearl accents. It doesn't get much more classic, classy, and so chic than this bracelet!

High Heels: Jupiter by Touch Ups Sexy Jeweled Shoes - A stunning single soled sandal covered in wonderful black stones and features a sophisticated lamy material. Two buckles secure a thick ankle strap that provides a fashion-forward silhouette. The black stones on this heel match the black stones on the La Regale RL22003 clutch perfectly!

  • Happy April Fools Day 2014!

Happy April Fools Day 2014 to all of our Roo Girls! We know this is the day of tricks and pranks, but we have no tricks for you here - just lots of LOVE for April finally arriving! And, if you can't tell by our 'Happy April' image below, we're celebrating with lots of pretty pink!

April is one of our favorite months at Rissy Roo's because it marks the official start of the Prom 2014 Season. While it's of course important to start getting ready for prom as soon as possible once January comes along, April marks the beginning of people finally starting to attend their prom dances! Proms usually start for our Roo Girls towards the end of April, so for some, it's time to start putting the smaller pieces together to ensure the night is perfect, like setting up hair and nail appointments, finding shoes and accessories, and getting the dress altered.

So, we are super excited for all of our Roo Girls who already have their prom outfit together and will be attending their dance very, very soon! If you don't have your prom dress yet, though, there's still plenty of time, so don't fret.

    Happy April La Femme 19388

A little lost on where to start to find your perfect prom dress? Decide on which style (for example, long vs. short vs. high-low, or ball gown vs. mermaid vs. A-line, etc.) or color (blue, pink, purple, yellow, green, etc.) you'd like to go for, or just start browsing around RissyRoos.com for ideas. We also recommend checking out our "Your Prom Timeline" post for a detailed look on how you can make sure everything is in perfect order for your big day.

Or, if you love the dress in the photo above, it's La Femme style 19388, a sequined dress with a chiffon overlay. The bodice is accented with pleated chiffon and multi-colored jewels at the neckline and natural waistline, making for a totally glam princess look.

We hope everyone as a fun time celebrating April Fools Day and the coming of warmer weather!
