So you've got your show-stopping dress… but how are you going to accessorize? After all, that perfect piece of jewelry or eye-catching clutch can really bring the entire look together.

Don't forget what Coco Chanel said, though: "When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on." The point is that less is more when you're trying to make a statement. If you've got too many things going on, it can be distracting. So, choose accessories, but choose wisely.

If you want to choose wisely, you have to know where to begin! Here's a list of what all 2014's prom fashionistas are coveting this year, so you can get some ideas of what you think is hot or not.

Volcano Crystal Jewelry

A simple pair of clear crystal earrings is a great way to accentuate a va-va-voom dress. But sometimes, when you choose a solid-colored dress with minimal details, you want a little something to take it up a few notches. Volcano crystals are perfect for exactly that! These somewhat iridescent, multi-colored crystals have all the elegance of crystal earrings with the many different ways they can be cut and shaped, but they're just a little more eye-catching.

Sequin Clutches

Every girl loves a little sparkle and shine, so luckily, sequin clutches are the most stylish form of hand-candy this year. These small-but-mighty bags pick up on any shimmery detailing on your dress without stealing the show. Plus, they're perfectly practical for carrying some emergency makeup, a cell phone, and a few dollars in cash without being a burden.

Rose Gold

In terms of shoes, dress accents, and jewelry, rose gold is a hot trend this year – and we absolutely love it. It's a weird rule of fashion that you're either a "silver" or a "gold" – that your skin color only looks good in one or the other. Rose gold is the perfect compromise. The pink-ish sheen gives it a little something girly while still being delicate, and it can be prepared with nearly any color without being the "obvious" choice.

Glitter Platforms

Some girls go for understated shoes beneath their dresses, but glitter platforms are for those of us who aren't those girls. The substantial platform beneath the heel means that even though they're sky-high, they're not painful to walk in because there's plenty of support. The glittery finish says "glamour" and "look at me!" – they're not the shoes for anyone who doesn't love the spotlight.

At the end of the day, there are so many routes you can take when accessorizing prom dresses. Whether you want something vintage and a little Audrey Hepburn-inspired, or you want to go over-the-top glam, that's going to affect your accessory choices. Sometimes, though, seeing what's on-trend can help you make that decision!

To all of our New Jersey Roo friends out there, the December 2013 LifeStyle Report of the New Jersey LifeStyle Magazine is out, and we're so proud to announce that we've been featured in their Holiday Gift Guide! Their The LifeStyle Report Holiday Gift Guide lists their last-minute treasures for everyone on your Holiday gift list, so it's quite an honor that we were included amongst their favorite finds. Two of our brand new products were listed: our Sweetie's Anne Lace Ballet Flats and our Leopard Purse! The flats are fabulous lace ballet style shoes with a knot detail and clear stone detail. They are the perfect shoe to sweeten up any social occasion dress if you don't want to go with heels. The Leopard Purse is an envelope clutch that is a perfect way to glam up any outfit.   That's not all that's in the December LifeStyle Report, though! The magazine also has a whole article on what to wear at Holiday parties: gold, of course! Of their selection, they wrote, "These picks for the holiday season will have you effortlessly standing out from the crowd and looking, and feeling, like a celebrity. This year, make your holiday statement piece a head-turning gold dress, suitable for any occasion.

When it comes to choosing a long dress, they featured one of the dresses that we have at Rissy Roo's: Tony Bowls style Tony B 2351317! It's a sequin dress with a halter neckline and pleated waistline that's accented with a contrasting hand-beaded medallion. It's one of our sale dresses - it was originally $458, but is now only $299. The LifeStyle Report mentions that it's a perfect dress to wear if you have a Holiday gala event or black-tie New Year's Eve party, and we couldn't agree more. Halloween is tomorrow, so if you have not put your costume together yet, time is officially almost out! But, that doesn't mean it's too late. There's plenty of last minute ideas you can put together to show your Halloween spirit. Below are fabulously easy ways you can dress up a dress (we recommend a little black dress) for a perfect night of Trick or Treat fun.

1. Spooky Tights

There's no better way to add a unique flavor to your dress than to pair it with funky tights. Whether for Halloween or the Holidays, tights are always fun accessories. For Halloween, we're loving the skeleton, spider web, and haunted house we've been seeing all over Pinterest!

Haunted House Halloween tights like these will really have you looking like a fan of the Holiday! It's as easy as pairing it with a black shirt or LBD and black heels or boots for a look that will have you being in the Halloween spirit without having to go all-out with a costume.

These skeleton tights are perfect for pairing with an LBD and a skeleton mask or Dia de Los Muertos makeup!

These spider web tights are so chic! Pair it with an LBD and a witch's hat and high heels for a totally classy Halloween look.

2. Animal Ears

Pairing animal ears with an LBD is always a dependable way to go. Rather than picking up a pair at your local Halloween store, if you have the time, make them yourself! A wire headband, felt, and studs will have you on your way to some purrrfect cat ears (or bunny...or bear ears) to rock!

3. Makeup!

Makeup is a girl's best friend, right? Well, it certainly couldn't be any more true on Halloween. Makeup will bring your whole look together, and there's plenty of costume ideas you can put together on makeup alone! One of the big trends this Halloween season is Dia de los Muertos skulls. All you have to do is get some black, white, yellow, and red paint and make your face into a colorful and flowery skull! Below are some of our favorite ideas when it comes to painting your face into a skull.

This is such a chic Halloween look, so don't be afraid to show off your creative skills if you decide to go with this costume idea! Dulce Candy's Sugar Skull/Dia de los Muertos Tutorial + DIY is a great video to watch if you want to try this look; check out her video below. It can just be time consuming to apply all of the makeup, so make sure to leave plenty of time for this one. And, just make sure to clean your face at the end of the night so the makeup isn't sitting on your skin for any longer than it needs to.

Labor Day has passed and the official start of Fall is only weeks away, so it's definitely time to get Back-t0-School ready. And, what does Back-to-School mean? Your backpack is definitely an essential, as it's something that you will see and carry everyday of the week. So, let's start there! We love that you can download even your school books onto your devices; it's a perfect way to go green by saving paper and money! Also not having all those books in your bag makes your backpack a heck of lot lighter; no more breaking your back with a library of books, just download them!

So, if you're a gadget geek like us, why not glam up your tech essentials? We love to see all the funky cool cases and they are a must have to show off your personality and style. If nothing else, they're great conversation starters for meeting new friends! Since we love pink and animal print, of course those are our go-to choices. But, there's plenty of different styles to choose from when it comes to dressing up (and protecting) your gadgets! Since the winter has taken a turn for the ridiculously cold this week here on the East Coast, the talk at Rissy Roo's has been all about wearing winter ready outfits.
