  • Rissy Roo's at the JCC of Atlantic County Sip & Shop in Margate NJ

All of our local Roo Girls know we love to be a part of our southern New Jersey community. The latest in community fun came last week, on Wednesday, July 12th, when Rissy Roo's attended as the Fashion Sponsor at the JCC of Atlantic County's Sip & Shop Ladies' Night Out Shopping & Wine Tasting Event.

Rissy Roo's at the JCC Sip & Shop Event

The special one-night Sip & Shop event was for a great cause, to help JCC facilitate sensory play in their early childhood education classrooms. All proceeds from the 2017 Sip & Shop Ladies Night Out went to support the effort to enhance the sensory centers in each of JCC's preschool classrooms. The purpose of the sensory centers is for children to learn important skills, including math, science, physical development, and social and emotional skills.

    JCC of Atlantic County

Over $4,800 was raised for the early childhood education center classrooms, and it was such a fun community event that brought together both local vendors and national vendors, who traveled in for the special event.

Other than Rissy Roo's attending as the Fashion Sponsor, Salon Kink was also a sponsor of the event. They styled the hair on all of our Roo Girl models at the event, and even did the makeup for our Roo Girl Juli!

Thirty six vendors were present in total, including Lululemon Athletica, Aearance Dermatology, Arbonne, BathFitter, Bocca, Brace Urcelf, Cutco, Embellish, Hope Jewel, India Hicks, Le Fashion Cottage, Lularoe, Lusciously Scented, Marilyn Chackman, Mary Kay, Messed & Distressed, Monat, NuSkin, Paper Chase, Pendant of Light, Perfectly Posh, Premier Designs Jewelers, Psychic Answers, Pure Romance, RetroChic Beauty, Sabai Soap, Stella & Dot, Sugar on Topp, LLC, Tara Bella, Traveling Jewels, Usborne Books and More, Wildtree, Younique, and 3 Girls Gifts. Bocca may have been one of our favorite vendors because they provided delicious pizzas and appetizers for everyone!

  • Tallyraps in Johnathan Kayne at the Radio Disney Music Awards

The 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards were held on April 29th at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with so many of Disney's most celebrated celebrities in attendance. With the celebs dressed in their best, of course, some of our favorite dress designers could be found on the red carpet. One of those designers was Johnathan Kayne!

The trio of sisters Southern Halo rocked the red carpet in Johnathan Kayne, and looked so gorgeous.

  • Seventeen Style Pro Prom Pick Alert: Sherri Hill 50873

With the Prom 2017 season officially here, it's certainly time to start hunting for that perfect prom dress ( and shoes and accessories). There are so many choices, though. Where to begin? Lace? Open back? Cut-outs? Which dress designer? With so many new looks and trends becoming popular this season, there are certainly endless possibilities.

While you can always check right here on our blog for all things prom, from top trends to styling tips, another go-to place is (of course) Seventeen Magazine for always on-point fashion ideas. If you haven't found it yet, they have a whole section dedicated to prom on their website! But, that's not what we're here to talk about today. We've recently teamed up with one of their Seventeen Style Pros, Morgan, to get her pick for the best prom dress of the 2017 season.

    Sherri Hill 50783

Seventeen Style Pro Morgan chose Sherri Hill style 50873 as her prom 2017 dress of choice, and for obvious reasons - it's beautiful! See her thoughts on the Sherri Hill prom dress below.

"Loving the freshness of this bohemian inspired Sherri Hill gown (Style 50873) in the newest spring shades of powder blue and blush.  The embroidered bustier-style bodice is great for showing off your figure, while the flowy chiffon skirt, makes it comfortable enough to dance the night away.  Add the matching choker for a touch of drama.  Find this gorgeous dress and so much more at Rissy Roos!"

    XOXO, Morgan

We love Morgan's pick to get that perfect spring and summer vibe. One of our favorite parts of this look is the matching removable floral choker that comes with the dress. With chokers being so on-trend lately, it's a perfect way to bring the look to prom in a classy way. Morgan certainly knows how to choose a dress with style!

Whether florals are on your mind, like style 50873, or there are other trends you have your eye on for Prom 2017, head over to our prom section to shop all the latest looks.

  • The 2017 Pantone Color of the Year is Greenery

The year 2016 was all about balance, with Pantone naming two colors as the Color of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. Now, with 2017 upon us, it's time for a brand new Color of the Year. This year is all about new beginnings, with Pantone announcing Greenery as the 2017 Color of the Year.

In the announcement, Pantone explained that Greenery (PANTONE 15-0343) is a yellow-green shade, "that evokes the first days of spring when nature's greens revive, restore and renew." The hope is that it reminds consumers to, "take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate." With a contentious election that just ended a few weeks ago, and a new president taking office in January, this is certainly an important message to remember and take to heart.  Continue reading

  • Demi Lovato Covers Adele's "When We Were Young" At Cleveland Concert

Adele's voice is pure gold. From "Hello" to "Someone Like You," she has an incredible sound to her that most singers, no matter how talented, would never begin to attempt to mimic. Except for one... the talented Demi Lovato, of course. The singer is currently on her tour for "Future Now: The Tour." During her Cleveland performance on Friday, September 2nd, Demi surprised and stunned the audience with a cover of Adele's "When We Were Young."

Youtuber JWBGSU explained that while on stage, Demi explained that she had a special treat for Cleveland and that she wanted to sing one of her favorite songs. But, she had never sung it before. In true Demi fashion, she went on to sing the emotional ballad "When We Were Young," and it was obviously amazing. Check out a video of the performance below.

In just one week, the fan-uploaded video of Demi's performance already has over 700,000 views. A sign of just how incredible Demi's version of Adele's song is.  Continue reading

  • Faviana On The Red Carpet of the 2016 Tony Awards

Our favorite dress designers can always be found on some of the most hotly anticipated red carpets, with the most recent sighting being Faviana on the 2016 Tony Awards red carpet. The 70th Annual Tony Awards was held on June 12, and Joelle Garguilo and Donna Karger were reporting straight from the red carpet to show off all of the hottest celebrity dresses. Of course, if they are reporting on celeb looks, they have to be dressed to impress, as well. So, the two reporters wowed the crowds themselves in Faviana dresses. Read on to see what they wore!

    Faviana Tony Awards

New York Live's reporter and producer, Joelle Garguilo, looked sultry in Faviana 7755, one of our hottest sellers. The plunging v-neck on this faille satin dress ads the perfect amount of allure to an otherwise simplistic and classic design, making it so perfect for just about any occasion. Whether homecoming, guest of a wedding, a charity event, or the red carpet, this style is classic and classy. The front is draped, which adds texture to the full length skirt, a high slit reveals a tantalizing touch of skin, and the back is adorned with thin straps and ruching in a manner that provides a slimming effect, flattering the figure in all the right spots.
New York Live Reporter Joelle Garguilo

You can see Joelle in action on the Tony's red carpet in the below video. She opened up her segment by mentioning that all eyes are on the musical Hamilton, but our eyes were on her in that gorgeous Faviana dress!  Continue reading

The Miss New Jersey 2016 Pageant was held this past weekend in our very own backyard, Ocean City, NJ. The pageant had the perfect backdrop on the Ocean City boardwalk in the Music Peir, and all of the contestants looked gorgeous.

Brenna Weick, of Mantua, Gloucester County, is our new Miss New Jersey 2016! • Deshauna Barber is Our Miss USA 2016!

The Miss USA pageant is always fun to watch, as there are so many talented, beautiful women, all competing for the right to wear one crown. This year's competition was especially fierce, but it ultimately came down to two: Miss District of Columbia, Deshauna Barber, and Miss Hawaii, Chelsea Hardin. They were both asked difficult interview questions, and stunned all with their answers. It couldn't have been a closer call, but Miss District of Columbia, Deshauna Barber, is now reporting for duty as our new Miss USA 2016!

Yup, that's right: she is reporting for duty because she is an Army Reserve officer, and showed just how much the army means to her in her response to her interview question. The 26-year-old from the nation's capital was asked by judge Joe Zee whether the Pentagon's decision to open up all combat roles to women had, "put political correctness over our military ability to perform." The 1st Lt. responded in style, saying, "As a woman in the United States Army, I think it was an amazing job by our government to allow women to integrate into every branch of the military."  Continue reading
