  • 2013 Billboard Music Awards Lace & Sheer Fashion

Dresses with sheer bodices and lace detailing have been really popular for Prom 2013, and it was certainly a style to watch at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, too! The BBMAs were held on Sunday May 19th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and our favorite looks on the blue carpet (yes, blue...not red!) were worn by Ariana Grande and Jennifer Morrison. They both looked so stunning in black sheer and lace pieces that we decided to dedicate our Billboard Music Awards post to them! Check out what they wore below and how you can get their looks for your next formal event.

  • How to Dress for Valentine's Day

Whether single or attached, Valentine's Day is right around the corner! With only 2 weeks left until February 14th, it's a perfect time to start planning your outfit. Even if you don't know exactly what you'll be doing yet, unless you'll be attending a formal event, a simple, sexy dress is always a staple go-to choice.

    candyhearts2

Every woman should obviously choose an outfit that they feel sexy in on this night, but it's also important to find one that you can feel comfortable and confident in. Even if you don't have a hot date, it's still a great night to go out and have some fun with your girlfriends. And, you definitely want to make sure that you'll be making a statement and turning some heads! For this day, don't feel like you need to go all-out with a fancy, sequined outfit like you might wear on New Year's Eve. In general, it's best to go with a simple, classic dress that accentuates your body. It's all about finding a nice balance between fancy and casual for this night out - choosing something that you'd wear to a nice dinner and a movie date is usually a good gauge!

If you want to show some holiday spirit, choose a red or pink dress, but you can always go with a simple Little Black Dress. A purple dress can also be a fun choice for showing off the V-Day colors if you want to avoid going the traditional red and pink route. We picked out our 3 favorite Valentine's Day dresses below (one for each color: red, pink, & black), so you can get some ideas for the big night!

If you want a red dress, we love Sherri Hill style 5002. It's a simple, short cocktail bandage dress that is sure to show off your curves, and it's definitely a dress that you'll find many uses for well after Valentine's Day. It also comes in colors black, navy, and white.

La Femme style 17494 is a perfect choice if you're looking for a pink dress. Amazing and sexy, this short cocktail dress is complete with a V-shaped front and back and has intricate beading all over the bodice. The dress comes in a light pink, blush, color, so you can show some Valentine's Day love without screaming it. It also comes in nude, if you want to forego the traditional V-Day colors altogether!

For a traditional Little Black Dress, Mori Lee style 9200 is perfect for V-Day because of the beautiful lace all over it. This LBD is both classy and sexy at the same time, and can definitely be worn for a bunch of different occasions. It also comes in a nude color, which really shows off the intricate lace detailing on the dress.

  • Celebrity New Year's Eve Outfits

Even though New Year's Eve has come and gone, we're still obsessing (just a little bit) over all of the sparkly outfits! Seventeen Magazine put together a great collection of what some of the celebrities were wearing when the ball dropped. The styles were all so perfect for NYE, but some of the celebs were even rocking new Prom 2013 trends! So, if you're looking for some ideas for your prom dress, these celeb NYE outfits are definitely a great place to start.

Carly Rae Jepsen performed in Times Square on NYE in a fashionable long, red maxi skirt and black crop top. Her show was so great! After the performance, she revealed on Twitter:

"@carlyraejepsen: Had a blast performing in Times Square! Nobody knew i had long johns under my skirt...till now;) #RockinNewYearsEve"

Pretty silly that she was wearing long johns, but a very good idea - it was very cold that night!

The 2 piece dress outfit is definitely going to be one of the popular trends for Prom this year, so we loved that Carly Rae was already rocking the look! Dress designers Jovani, Xtreme, Dave & Johnny, and Sherri Hill have all included sexy 2-piece numbers in their Prom 2013 collections, with both short and long skirts. If you want to get a similar look to Carly Rae, we love Jovani style 5336 because of the long, tulle skirt.

Ashley Tisdale was hanging out with her girlfriends Shelley Buckner and Kim Hidalgo on NYE. Ashley rocked the same sexy little black dress that she wore to the Breaking Dawn Pt 2 premiere in Los Angeles. We thought it was so awesome that she was wearing the dress again - it definitely couldn't have been any more perfect for New Year's Eve because of all of the sequins!

We especially loved her friend's pink baby doll dress, though! It kept within the NYE spirit because of the sequins, but was definitely a unique dress to wear because it was pink! We love Jovani style 612 for a similar style - a great dress to wear for either prom or homecoming.

Kim Kardashian is of course always rocking sexy outfits, and NYE is no exception! Her sheer and lace dress hugged her curves (...and her baby bump!...the newest Kardashian news from Kanye West!) so well. The long sleeves and length of the skirt is a great compliment to the revealing lace - sometimes it's all about finding balance in your sexy outfit! Jovani style 9448 is a great example of that - the long sleeves keep the dress from being too revealing.

What a cute pic of Sarah Hyland sharing a midnight kiss with her boyfriend Matt Prokop! As if the kiss wasn't enough to make this pic perfect, we love Sarah's outfit - a burgundy dress and glittery heels! Burgundy has been such a popular color in the Fall and Winter months, that her style couldn't be more on-point. To rock a similar outfit for your next night out on the town, check out La Femme style 16966 for your dress and Candice by Touch Ups for your shoes.

Nicki Minaj looked as sexy as ever on New Year's Eve in her shiny gold bandage dress and shoes. Seventeen Mag wrote, "this metallic, monochromatic look would be totally stunning for prom." We couldn't agree more!

If you want to show off your sexy curves just like Nicki, bandage dresses are a great way to do that. Check out Terani style C1329 for a similar gold bandage dress. Or, if you want to take a hint from Seventeen and find your perfect gold look for prom, click here to peruse all the gold prom dresses.

  • New Year's Eve Party Themes

With New Year's Eve only 4 days away, it's definitely time to get your party plans together! Whether you're holding your own party, or attending someone else's, it can be fun to have a theme. Party City recently put together a list of NYE party themes that we thought were cute ideas to spice up the normal New Year's party. Whether you're looking for a theme for your own party, or if you know that one of your friends will be having one at theirs, we paired some sexy cocktail dresses with our favorite Party City NYE party ideas.

Want to stick with the classic New Year's Eve look? You definitely can't go wrong by keeping with tradition and going with a black, silver, and gold party theme. As far as dressing for the occasion, a classic little black dress is always perfect, but it can be fun to dress it up a bit with silver or gold accenting either on the dress or with your accessories. We love Primavera style 9625 for a traditional NYE look - it's a cute strapless dress with silver and black sequins.

Looking for something a little more funky for New Year's Eve? There's definitely no better night to let your wild side out! Don't be afraid to shake things up with fun spots and stripes in your party's theme and on your outfit. Animal print dresses are always a sexy staple for any girl's closet, so it's a dress you won't have trouble finding multiple uses for. We love Xcite style 30375 and Jovani style 9866 cocktail dresses to get the animal print look for NYE.

Just want to add some bright colors to your New Year's Eve? Go with a "Midnight Mystery" theme and fill your night with bold blues, purples, oranges and reds. There's plenty of multicolor dresses you can pick from, but we love Hannah S. style 27781 for a fun and flirty look.

  • New Year's Eve Party Outfits!

This year is coming to an end very quickly! So many parties...so little time! You HAVE to dive into the new year looking fab, of course. We picked out our fav cocktail dresses that are so perfect for a New Year's eve party. Whether you're hitting up a nightclub or celebrating at home...you'll be sure to enter 2014 looking super glamorous!

A NYE dress is not a NYE dress without sequins or some kind of embellishment! But, sticking to the plain sequin dresses isn't always the best way to stand out, since a lot of people will be rocking the sequins on this night! It can be fun to find a dress that has the sparkly sequins, but with a little bit of a twist to it.

We especially love Jovani for this - they are always so fashion forward with their designs that we can barely keep up! Our favorite two Jovani dresses for New Year's are below - they scream NYE in a very unique way and are especially great if you're celebrating at one of the hottest nightclubs. We love the long sleeves on these dresses, too - perfect for winter festivities! Since they are classic cocktail dresses, they both can be worn time and time again for other events, too!

If long sleeves aren't your thing, no worries - there's nothing wrong with showing off some arms on NYE! The other cocktail dresses we picked out below, like the Jovani dresses, have a unique look to them but still have that new year's eve sparkle! They are both also only $178, so if holiday shopping burned a hole in your pocket, and the dresses above hurt your wallet, these are great options for a more affordable dress!

Be the star of the night in this strapless Scala 47488 cocktail dress. This ivory dress features silver and gold sequin embellishment, a sweetheart neckline, and comes in three other colors. • How to Dress Up for a Family Holiday Dinner

The Holidays are here and that means it's time for lots of parties - and lots of different types of parties! The Family Holiday Dinner is one event you're bound to be attending at one time or another this Holiday season, whether it be your own family's, your boyfriend's, or even your best friend's. This can be one of the more trickier events when it comes to dressing up, though. With family members aplenty - whether it be the Aunt that's your BFF, or your boyfriend's grandparents that you've never met before - it's important to make the right impression. Even though the holidays are usually a time for glitz and glam, this may be one holiday event where it's best to tone it down a notch; there will be plenty of time to show off that cute short sequin dress on New Year's Eve!

No matter what holiday you're celebrating, the general rules should hold constant: keep the fashionable side of you showing through with a cute dress, but stick to one that's more simple and toned down. Black is usually a good color choice for a simple look, but don't be afraid to show some festivity with a red, green, or blue colored dress. It's also always good to bring a blazer or cardigan to wear over the dress to cover your shoulders, especially if you choose a strapless dress.

Our 3 favorite for a Holiday family event are great simple, yet sophisticated mini dresses:

    1. Dave & Johnny style 8281 cocktail dress is a strapless black dress with taped taffeta over lace for fabric. It's a very classic looking LBD, with unique styling to it with the distinctive textured stripes throughout the dress.

    2. Terani style H1216 cocktail dress comes in the colors red and blue - both perfect for the Holidays. It has a scooped cowl neckline in both the front and back of the dress.

    3. Clarisse style 2044 cocktail dress is a sweet mocha colored dress that's adorned with beading and rhinestones. The pretty patterns gives it such a distinctive look, while the mocha color complements the beading and keeps the dress toned down.

  • Luxe Lace for the Holidays

Even though Spring and Summer are gone, many of the fashion trends of the two warm seasons have been sticking around in Fall, and don't plan on going anywhere for the Winter. Lace is one of those trends. But, it's not only the darker lace colors like blue and black that are popular right now - the lighter looks like ivory, white, and nude are sticking around for the colder months, too.

Teen Vogue mentioned that the lead designers have been freshening up their Fall runways with the lace trend. Simone Rocha, Dolce & Gabbana, and Michael Kors all had lots of lace (in both dark and light colors) throughout their Fall Winter 2012/2013 Fashion Shows. Check out our favorite outfits from their runway shows below.

Lace is definitely a classy way to dress up any outfit, and it without a doubt exudes the look and feel of the Holidays. The fabric is great to wear to a number of Holiday events - from Christmas parties with your family, Holiday parties with co-workers, or a New Year's Eve night out with friends.  Below are some of our favorite lace cocktail dresses that are similar to what the designers are showing off in their Fall/Winter fashion shows.

Wearing the lighter lace colors to holiday events is a great way to stand out in the crowd if you want a bolder look; but, choosing a darker lace fabric is always a classic for the holidays, and you'll still be sure to turn heads. Do you like the lighter colors for the Fall/Winter months? Leave a comment below!

  • Easy-to-Pack Dresses for Holiday Parties

The holidays are coming up and that means there will be lots parties. Not all the parties will be close to home, though; some may involve traveling (a New Year's Eve trip to NYC, perhaps??). Of course you want to glam it up and pack a dress, but who has the time or patience to iron a dress if it gets wrinkly during transportation?  Don't worry, you can enjoy the holidays without having to worry about the wrinkles and look super fab without the hassle! It's all about picking the right fabric. We selected some of our favorite "wrinkle free" holiday dresses that will make your life and packing a lot easier.

    Sequin:

Sequin is one of the very few fabrics that doesn't wrinkle easily. Plus it's one of the only fabrics that definitely cannot be ironed. The best part about this sparkly fabric is that it screams holiday cheer! Continue reading
