  • 2014 Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Beauty Trends!

The beauty trends for Haute Couture Fashion week are anything but average. In fact, the typical adjectives used to capture the art displayed by various designers and artists include wild, eclectic, and whimsical. However non-realistic and daring these hair and makeup looks may be, they always seem to have an underlying layer of prettiness drawing us to them and tempting us to give them a try on our own mini runways in everyday life. Here are a few of the 2014 Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week beauty trends we enjoyed the most and would be willing to try for Fall and Homecoming 2014.

    Chanel Haute Couture 2014

2014 Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Beauty Trends-Chanel Haute CoutureEach model rocked a sequin cap with a feathered, extremely piece-y up-do. We love this rocker goes glam inspired look complete with metallic winged eyeliner. The silver and gold glow on the eyes reminds of Winter and the holidays!

    Atelier Versace Haute Couture 2014

Atelier Versace Haute Couture 2014-Paris Haute Couture Beauty TrendsMove over barely there eye makeup. It looks like Atelier Versace went all out with an all over eye color and gave new meaning to winged eyes. Instead of a winged tip, these models had fully winged eyelids in teal for a sultry dramatic effect, which was balanced with nude lips and high slick backed top knots! This look has 70's disco party all over it and we are ready to put on a jumper and dance.

On Aura Tout Vu Haute Couture 2014

On Aura Tout Vu Haute Couture- 2014 Paris Haute Couture Beauty TrendsThe models for this show walked in an ethereal water wonderland with violet shadowed, sunken eyes, also lined in metallic silvers giving an icy winter presence. The tight pin curls on the models have a wet look, which ties in with the entire Haute Couture collection being inspired by water. We can certainly get "aboard" with this look for the Fall and Winter months ahead.

Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2014

2014 Paris Haute Couture Beauty Trends-Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2014We thought adhesive eyelashes were a miracle, but we didn't know what was coming next. Makeup artists for the Christian Dior Haute Couture show kept the trending curve going with metallic eyes, only with the exception of using silver adhesive liners instead. We would give these "Velvet Eyes" adhesive liners a go for their perfect shapes, bold colors, and long wear appeal.

After reviewing our favorite beauty trends of 2014's Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, we feel less disappointed knowing Summer will eventually come to an end. Knowing we will have exciting makeup, hair, and fashion trends to look forward to certainly puts our minds at ease!

Which of the above trends did you like or dislike? Are there any you would be willing to try for the 2014 Fall and Homecoming season?

  • Inside CHANEL Perfume

The perfume company CHANEL recently created a whole website to tell the history of the company and how it all came to be. There's so much interesting information behind the company and perfume that we wanted to share it with all of our Roo Girls! The story dates all the way back to 1883 when Gabrielle Chanel was born.

Of course, CHANEL No 5 perfume is the most well-known of the CHANEL collection, and is one of the most well-known perfumes of the world. So, we were happy to see that "Chapter 1" of "Inside CHANEL" started with the story of how CHANEL No 5 came to be! The fragrance was created in 1921 for the first time, and has such a beautiful story behind it. Watch it here:

    http://youtu.be/tRQa33dqyxI

We loved learning the story behind the perfume coming to be was that Chanel sought to create:

"A woman's perfume with a woman's scent. Her scent should be as important as her style of dress. A woman should wear perfume wherever she would like to be kissed."

Chanel quoteThe perfume was the first time a perfume wasn't based on only one floral scent, and it certainly made an impact on the perfume industry from there on out. It's become a classic and iconic scent that has truly tested time. It's even been honored by the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, and the famous artist Andy Warhol even included it in a series of his paintings! And of course, you can't look over Marilyn Monroe being known for wearing the perfume, revealing that she wears to bed, "just a few drops of No 5." And, ever since then, so many more celebrities, even Brad Pitt, have promoted the perfume. Our favorite part of the whole first video, though may be how it ended: "No 5 resists the whims of fashion and the passage of time, as of Mademoiselle Chanel had found the formula for the feminine eternal." It definitely sounds like she has!

There's so much more to the CHANEL story than just this Chapter 1 video, though, and definitely too much to include in only one blog post! There are 10 full "Chapters" to the story, as well as an interactive timeline, all on their website at Inside.Chanel.com. If you love CHANEL and CHANEL perfume, it's definitely a fun website to check out. Enjoy!

  • Kim and Kanye on the Cover of Vogue!

It's been all the talk lately - Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, better known as "Kimye" gracing the April 2014 cover of Vogue Magazine! Vogue boldly marked the importance of Kimye by including the subtitle of, "Their Fashionable Life and Surreal Times, #WorldsMostTalkedAboutCouple," on the cover, and it's left everyone in a frenzy.

    Vogue-kim-kanye

Those in the fashion industry are up-in-arms over Vogue's choice and declaration, saying that they aren't even a good representation of a fashionable couple and what Vogue stands for as a magazine. From hilarious reactions on Twitter to some even threatening to cancel their subscriptions, everyone's definitely had an opinion over this cover! There's even been some funny Kimye Vogue cover spoofs - from James Franco and Seth Rogan, to The Muppets' Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy ('Kermie & Piggy' on the cover!), to even Kylie and Kendall Jenner! We love that the Jenner sisters can make fun of their cousin like that - so silly!

    kim-kardashian-kanye-west-vogue-cover-parodys

But, our favorite reaction may be Naomi Campbell's. The 43-year-old supermodel appeared on Australia's "The Morning Show," where she beautifully demonstrated an important lesson - if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

When one of the hosts of the show asked Naomi what she thought of the cover, she simply smiled and said, "I do not want to comment," followed by a laugh and mention that she is a fashion model.

But, of course, the host was dissatisfied with this response and continued to prod her with an answer by asking if she thought, "Kim and Kanye haven't earned the right to be on the cover of Vogue?" Naomi simply replied with, "Those are your words, not mine. I'm being politically correct." So classy! And, coming from a fashion model, so perfect!

With all this said, we think Kim looks gorgeous on the cover, and Kanye looks handsome, of course. we especially loved the gorgeous white strapless gown that Kim wore on the cover - it hugs her curves so perfectly!

Prom is coming to an end, and new styles from our favorite designers are already making their way to RissyRoos.com for Homecoming and Holidays ! Jovani is one designer that is already showing off their sexy styles for the coming holiday season!

Jovani's upcoming holiday line is inspired by the fashion of the 1920's. With how much we've been loving the style in the new Great Gatsby movie, we were so excited to hear about the new Jovani line! From short cocktail dresses that feature intricate beading and lace work, to breathtaking evening gowns, Jovani has definitely captured the glitz and glam of the 1920's. • Joy Vieli in Mac Duggal at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival!

The 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival was held at the end of May, and there were so many stunning looks all throughout the festival! One of our favorite looks was worn by DJ and model Joy Vieli. She wore one of our favorite designers, Mac Duggal, at several events at the festival, so we were of course very amazed by her outfit choices! Some of the events Joy attended included director Sofia Coppola's exclusive yacht party, as well as an after party at VIP ROOM Famous Club. She was definitely both dressed up in style AND partying in style!

Joy Vieli at the Cannes Film Festival

Our favorite look that she wore during the festival was Mac Duggal style 78703R, which is the gown she's wearing in the above picture. It's such an elegant gown, but we loved how she gave it her own edgy touch with hairstyle and bold lipstick (and of course, her fierce model stance!). Mac Duggal 78703R has sensational beaded floral designs that fill the center front of this spectacular floor length evening gown, giving it such a unique look. All eyes were definitely on Joy in this gown with a thigh high slit and sheer one shoulder design!

    Mac Duggal 78703R

It's a great dress for prom or any other formal event. Black goes with anything and everything, after all!

  • Prom Looks Straight from the Runway (Models)

Finding the perfect prom dress is of course a very important (and sometimes difficult) task. And, every girl unquestionably dreams of wearing the most fashionable frock on prom night. If you could choose your dress right off the Fashion Week Runway, who wouldn't jump at that chance?? That's why we loved Teen Vogue Magazine's latest article -  they sat down with some of fashion's stars to talk all about prom memories and what they wore! The models they talked to were Karlie Kloss, Ali Stephens, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Andie Arthur, and Kelly Mittendorf, and all of their stories were great. We especially loved Jacquelyn's and Karlie's stories, though - check them out below!

    Jacquelyn Jablonski

Jacquelyn Jablonski, pictured ready for prom in her white dress in Teen Vogue's image above, is a model from Rissy Roo's home state - New Jersey! She started her modeling career at just 15 years old, so she was always up to date on the biggest trends to wear at prom. She has been a model in campaigns for many famous designers, such as Givenchy, Pucci, Hermes, J. Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, and Max Mara. She's even been a part of H&M and Gap's campaigns!

When Jacquelyn talked to Teen Vogue about prom, she said:

"I chose a white dress. I decided on white because I had worn a mint green dress the year before and felt like everyone wears color. Also, I could accessorize more with white—I wore my mom's big vintage necklace."

That's definitely great advice to keep in mind for those who love accessorizing - going with a more simple dress can mean more room for fun jewelry and shoes!

    Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss, pictured all dressed up for prom on the left in Teen Vogue's photo above, started modeling at 14 years old, so she always got to take her fashion knowledge to prom, too! She is ranked on the Top 50 Models Women list by Models.com, and Vogue Paris named her one of the top 30 models of the 2000s. So, you can guess that just like Jacquelyn, she's modeled for the best of the best in the fashion industry - Christian Dior, Lacoste, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta, and many more.

As far as prom goes, Karlie told Teen Vogue:

"It was special to be able to wear dresses fresh off the runway to my high school dances! Even though nobody else ever knew who or what I was wearing, I did, and it always made me feel like a princess."

We're sure Karlie truly did look like a princess! If you want to read more from Karlie and Jacquelyn and the other models Teen Vogue talked to, check out their "Our Favorite Models Tell Us About Their Prom Looks" article.

  • Luxe Lace for the Holidays

Even though Spring and Summer are gone, many of the fashion trends of the two warm seasons have been sticking around in Fall, and don't plan on going anywhere for the Winter. Lace is one of those trends. But, it's not only the darker lace colors like blue and black that are popular right now - the lighter looks like ivory, white, and nude are sticking around for the colder months, too.

Teen Vogue mentioned that the lead designers have been freshening up their Fall runways with the lace trend. Simone Rocha, Dolce & Gabbana, and Michael Kors all had lots of lace (in both dark and light colors) throughout their Fall Winter 2012/2013 Fashion Shows. Check out our favorite outfits from their runway shows below.

Lace is definitely a classy way to dress up any outfit, and it without a doubt exudes the look and feel of the Holidays. The fabric is great to wear to a number of Holiday events - from Christmas parties with your family, Holiday parties with co-workers, or a New Year's Eve night out with friends.  Below are some of our favorite lace cocktail dresses that are similar to what the designers are showing off in their Fall/Winter fashion shows.

Wearing the lighter lace colors to holiday events is a great way to stand out in the crowd if you want a bolder look; but, choosing a darker lace fabric is always a classic for the holidays, and you'll still be sure to turn heads. Do you like the lighter colors for the Fall/Winter months? Leave a comment below!
