This way, you'll be reminded of your goals every single day! You can also find text of their resolutions below, in case you'd like to share the resolutions via e-mail or IMing.

Here's the "A Glitter Girl's 2014 New Years Resolutions" list:

  • Fashion Police: Dressing for Your Body Type

Just because a clothing item is trendy or expensive does not always mean it looks good. You've probably heard it time and time again - "dress according to your body type." Well, it's the truth!

    Your Body Type

To figure out how to best dress for your body time, it's always helpful to take a cue from celebrities. Let's take Kim Kardashian for example. This girl has every top designer at her fingertips, yet she is a repeat offender of wearing unflattering, tight, clothing. Don't get us wrong, we love Kim K. and her curves! She definitely has impeccable taste, and when she gets it right she looks stunning.

    kim kardashian cocktail dresses

However, one thing Kim seems to forget is that dressing for your body type is major. You do not want to end up with camel toe, a wardrobe malfunction or swollen feet. It's very important to keep your look classy and sexy and show off those curves in style. You can see Kim at her best looking classy in cocktail dresses above, and her forgetting the meaning of fashion in the images of her swollen and peplum outfit below.

    kim kardashian fashion no-no

With that said, one celeb that always gets it right and is a personal favorite of ours at Rissy Roo's is Beyonce. Why? Because she is always polished and looking amazing, no matter where she is heading!

Just like Beyonce (and sometimes Kim K), when picking out that PERFECT outfit, whether it be a shirt, jeans, dress, or shoes, take into account YOUR body type. There are many different body types, so it's most important to figure out exactly what your body type is and read up on the best and most flattering ways to dress for it.

For example, women with the hourglass body tend to wear form-fitting clothes. This can look amazing (and who doesn't want to show off their curves?!), but ladies, we need to leave a little to the imagination, as well! There is a fine line between classy and trashy - especially when it comes to showing off those curves. This tends to be where Kim K. falls short when dressing up - she wears clothes that show off her hourglass figure, but aren't necessarily figure flattering. Marilyn Monroe said it many years ago, and her thoughts still hold true today: "Your clothes should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to show you're a lady."Marilyn Monroe quote

But, there are some rules that hold true for all body types! I have found that NO MATTER what body shape you have, making your legs look longer is most often very flattering. Depending on your height, you can easily alter the way your legs look by choosing dresses and skirts that fall at certain lengths on your thighs. You can also pick shirt lengths to help lengthen your torso, and certain pants styles that can help give you a figure-flattering look, all depending on the type of legs you have.

One rule to always keep in mind: no matter what you're wearing, make sure that you're comfortable with your look! Confidence is key to looking your best, and comfort is one important way to make sure that your confidence is high! And, always remember: beauty comes in many shapes and sizes!

  • Choosing the Perfect New Years Eve Outfit

Still stuck on what to wear for New Year's Eve? Don't worry, we wouldn't leave you hanging on one of the most important nights out of the year! Every year, we choose our favorite cocktail dresses to wear on NYE, but this year we're going one step further and showing you exactly how to put your own perfect New Years Eve outfit together from head to toe.

Check out the image below - it will take you from choosing the right hairstyle to wear with your dress depending on the dress' style, to how to properly accessorize your look, to trendy dress styles to consider wearing, to even the shoes to wear on your feet. It will definitely help you put together a New Years outfit that everyone will be envying!

Choosing the Perfect New Years Eve Outfit

how to choose the perfect new years eve outfit

When it comes to choosing the right hair for your dress, it's all about pairing the hairstyle with the dress' neckline. For instance, a low cut dress calls for a plain hairstyle. With a strapless dress, you have two choices: either wear your hair up for a more alluring look, or keep it draped over your shoulders to add some modesty. If you're wearing a dress with the trend-setting collar style, just make sure you're wearing a hairstyle where the collar can stand out and take the spotlight on your outfit. For backless dresses, it's the perfect opportunity to wear your hair in a low hanging ponytail look, which is a very popular style right now.

Accessories can be just as important as your dress! We live by the philosophy of "less is more" when it comes to accessories. If you're going with a simpler style dress, it can be fun to pick one big or bold accessory as the stand-out piece of your outfit. This season, we recommend going crazy with your purse - using your clutch as your outfit's stand-out piece is always a great choice.

When it comes to choosing your New Years Eve dress, instead of choosing a straight-cut neckline, consider something a little more flirtatious. NYE is definitely a night for flirtatious and sexy looks, so don't be afraid to go that route. Both lace and leather are great choices for a sexy NYE look and have been popular trends lately. If you go with lace and leather, keep your makeup simple but sexy by pairing it with pale pink lip gloss and black eyeliner.

The shoes may be last, but they certainly are not least when it comes to your NYE outfit! Amp up your party attire with unexpected footwear like day-to-night flats, comfortable wedges, or sexy platforms. For simple dresses, try pairing it with a pair of shoes with fun embellishments.

New Year's Eve is close, and time is running out, so if you haven't started shopping yet, it's definitely time. Want to get started? Just head on over to RissyRoos.com for everything from your dress, to jewelry, purses, and shoes, and your perfect New Years Eve outfit will be ready to go in no time!

  • 5 Tips to Make Your Lipstick Last in the Fall & Winter!

A new season means new lipstick colors! This fall, the lipstick shade we are obsessing over is plum. According to Cosmopolitan, plum lipstick is the number one sexiest piece of fall make-up.

1490-shay-mitchell-s-funky-fall-look-0x375-2"Spiked with a dash of burgundy and a hit of black, plum lipstick becomes, 'sophisticated in a twisted kind of way,'" says makeup artist Tom Pecheux.

Date-Makeup-Idea-Dark-Plum-Lips-0-megan-foxWe couldn't agree more with Tom! We are definitely taking advantage of the fall weather and squeezing in all the different shades of plum lipstick that we can get our hands on! But, with winter right around the corner, don't worry because this is a shade that can be worn right through the cold weather, too.

The only thing we can't help but hate is when our lipstick wares off! Having to re-apply lipstick many times throughout the day is exhausting and wastes the product; which is why we want to share 5 tips to make your lipstick last, an article based off of Seventeen Magazine. With winter officially just around the corner and chapped lips on their way, these tips couldn't be more important.

a-lips-getty-creative1. Exfoliate. Scrub your lips with the rest of your face while you're in the shower in the morning. A gentle exfoliator will smooth over the flakes that come with winter's chapped lips.

    2. Moisturize. With the temperatures dropping faster than you can say "pumpkin spice latté," moisturizing everything, including your lips is key. Stock up on a long-lasting chapstick to keep your pucker from getting chapped and use it before applying lipstick to help it go on smoothly.

    3. Prime & Line. Use an easy-to-apply lip primer to set the stage for the bold color. Once it's absorbed, outline you lips in a liner that's the same shade of your natural lip color.

    4. Add Your Color. Apply the lipstick of choice in two swipes.  Blot a couple times on a tissue and repeat with another swipe of lipstick, followed by another blot. Do this until you score your desired color strength.

    5. Set with Powder. You heard us, powder—on your lips. A light, translucent powder will help keep the color in place even after you enjoy a huge mug of hot chocolate!

Once you follow these short steps, you will be ready to rock your plum lipstick (or any other color lipstick) all day long!

  • Cap-Friendly Graduation Hairstyles!

Graduation is coming soon and you already got your outfit and of course your cap and gown. There's only a few finishing touches you have to make before your big day. You're most likely going to be wearing the cap all day...outdoors...taking pictures...during the ceremony...and then even more pictures after. To avoid the dreadful hat hair, plan your hairstyle ahead of time. We pinned some awesome hairstyle suggestions that are cap-friendly to our "Prom Hairstyles" Pinterest board (because they're perfect for prom, too!) that you can check out, with our favorites below. They're simple hairstyles than anyone can do on their own and that are also sure to last you all day. Check them out below!

    Natural Waves

If the actual event is indoors,  then you have many options. If you're thinking of letting your hair down, give your hair some body and waves like the examples below. If you're worried about the cap not being able to stay on your head, make sure you bring extra bobby pins to secure the cap in place. Your hair blown out for an outdoor ceremony wouldn't be able to handle the humidity. Natural waves are your best friend. Using hot tools or just hair product can get you that look!

    Braid it up!

When it comes to avoiding hat hair, braids are ideal. Whether you go with the milkmaid style...french...fishtail...or side braid, your hair will stay put all day. Take pictures without worries! Don't know how to braid? Easy! There's plenty of YouTube videos demonstrating how to braid the perfect fishtail..french...you name it you'll find it!

Here's one YouTube how-to that we love:

    Half Up-do

For a sleeker look, a half up half down style is another perfect do for graduation. The best part is that it's super simple. You just pull the top section of your hair into a small ponytail and secure it with a hairband or bobby pins. You can even style the ends of your hair into wavy locks or soft curls with a little bit of hairspray to keep it from loosing its shape. You'll be camera-ready all day!

However you decide to style your hair for graduation, we're sure you'll look super chic! If you're still looking for your perfect graduation dress, it's definitely not too late, either. So, get your grad look ready and be ready to take lots and lots of photos!

  • Tips on How to Get Prom Ready

Prom is only weeks away, and we're sure that you're ready to bust a move on the dance floor. But, before the biggest night of the year, you have to make sure everything goes perfect...down to the nitty gritty details! In order to have a stress-free night, try to get everything done way in advance and have a handy check list. We are here to guide you through this stressful preparation, so we came up with important tips to follow for your dazzling night! This is a great list to print out and keep with you in the coming weeks to make sure there's nothing you forget!

Make sure your dress is tailored to perfection

    Nika 8010

Most of the time, dresses don't fit perfectly. You don't want to be uncomfortable and swimming in your dress! Go to the right seamstress and have her tailor it to your size and length. The length is especially important - you don't want it dragging on the dance floor. Make sure to bring the shoes you plan on wearing that night so that the seamstress can hem the dress properly.

    Choose your Hair Style

    "The Hills" At PaleyFest09

Your hair is crucial! Make sure you book your appointment early enough in the day to give yourself plenty of time to get ready for Prom - you don't want to be late! Search for hairstyle ideas online and in magazines and bring pictures in with you so that the hairdresser knows what you want. You should also consider how it will look with your dress. Up-dos and half up-dos are great for one shoulder or high neck dresses. Strapless gowns can go with just about any hairstyle. One fun way to keep track of the hairstyles you like and compare them to each other is to make a Pinterest board.

Makeup and Nails to Compliment your Dress

    tumblr_mkn4591kH21s5t1omo1_1280_nails

You might want to book an appointment for makeup and nails also. You never know how crowded your favorite nail salon might be or how long the wait is for makeup. Getting a manicure and pedicure a couple days before is a great way for making prom day errands easier - just make sure that you don't chip them! If your prom dress is loaded with beads or has super bright colors, it's better to tone down your makeup and nails. Neutral nail colors and neutral eyeshadow colors are best with bright colors, lots of beading, and print. If you are wearing a neutral colored dress, you can go crazy...bold lips and bright nail polish for a pop of color!

    Add some Bling with Jewelry

    Prom Jewelry

Jewelry is another important detail. It for the most part has the same makeup and nails rule; if you're wearing a blinged out sequin dress, you're going to want to tone down the jewelry. Otherwise, you'll have sparkle overload! Too much can overkill your whole look, so try to keep it simple.

Complete your Look with your Shoes

    Prom shoes

Your shoes are what completes your look. You don't want to look like your in pain in a gorgeous dress. Practice makes perfect! Try breaking them in a few weeks before. If that doesn't help, try slipping in padding or insoles. If your shoes are too tight, find a local shoe repairman and have them stretched out. You'll have a more confident walk!

Add a Hint of Personality with your Purse

    purses for prom

A purse is always a great way to add some personality to any outfit. Pick a simple bag that blends in with your dress, or choose a funky clutch that's the statement piece of your outfit! Just remember, depending on your dress and jewelry, you don't want to be too blinged out.

    Don't forget your Camera!

    camera lense 300x450

Of course, the most important accessory of all is your camera! It's a special night, and you'll want to take all the photos you can. Whether a disposable, a point-and-shoot, or the handy dandy camera on your smart phone, just make sure that you have plenty of room to take lots and lots of pictures. And, ideally, have something small enough that fits in your purse!

  • Prom Trend of the Week: Printed Dresses

This week's prom trend is one of our favorites because we love seeing different patterns and innovative looks every year. Printed dresses are so creative and are always fresh since there's so many different ways to wear the trend! A print dress will always be a showstopper; whether it's animal print or polka dots, you'll be sure to have the most memorable dress of the night!

Printed dresses can either work with your figure or go against it, depending on the pattern and your body shape and height. So, just make sure to pick a pattern that suits your body type. If you find the right printed dress, it can be super figure flattering. Below are some of our favorite new patterned dresses for Prom 2013 - they are all great looks that certainly take the boredom out of a solid color dress!

    La Femme18969

    Sherri Hill 2813

    Tony Bowls 2351337

    La Femme 18017

    1. La Femme 18969 Rose Gold Gown - A unique sequined gown with a sweetheart neckline and contrasting pattern on the skirt. The chevron pattern is très chic. One of our favorites! If you're on the taller side, this is a great dress option - the chevron pattern will really work to give you a slimming figure.

    2. Sherri Hill 2813 Nude Evening Gown - Be the center of attention in this fitted floor length strapless jeweled gown. The unique beaded pattern on this dress takes the patterned dress trend to a new level by almost giving it a 3D look! The way the patterns are laid out on this dress should work to accent your curves.

    3. Tony Bowls Tony B 2351337 - A strapless printed chiffon A-line prom dress with a sweetheart neckline and gathered empire waist accented with chunky hand-beading. This is simply a fun dress, and a great way to wear print in a more simple way. The subtle ombre make this dress so on-trend, while the print gives off an artsy look.

    4. La Femme 18017 - Go wild in this blue one shoulder animal print ombre gown with a sexy front slit. The pleated bodice has cutouts leading to the back cutout and trimmed with sequins and beading. If you love animal print, this is such a fun way to rock the look. The ombre keeps the animal print from being too overpowering, since it fades into white at the bottom.

  • Prom Looks Straight from the Runway (Models)

Finding the perfect prom dress is of course a very important (and sometimes difficult) task. And, every girl unquestionably dreams of wearing the most fashionable frock on prom night. If you could choose your dress right off the Fashion Week Runway, who wouldn't jump at that chance?? That's why we loved Teen Vogue Magazine's latest article -  they sat down with some of fashion's stars to talk all about prom memories and what they wore! The models they talked to were Karlie Kloss, Ali Stephens, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Andie Arthur, and Kelly Mittendorf, and all of their stories were great. We especially loved Jacquelyn's and Karlie's stories, though - check them out below!

    Jacquelyn Jablonski

Jacquelyn Jablonski, pictured ready for prom in her white dress in Teen Vogue's image above, is a model from Rissy Roo's home state - New Jersey! She started her modeling career at just 15 years old, so she was always up to date on the biggest trends to wear at prom. She has been a model in campaigns for many famous designers, such as Givenchy, Pucci, Hermes, J. Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, and Max Mara. She's even been a part of H&M and Gap's campaigns!

When Jacquelyn talked to Teen Vogue about prom, she said:

"I chose a white dress. I decided on white because I had worn a mint green dress the year before and felt like everyone wears color. Also, I could accessorize more with white—I wore my mom's big vintage necklace."

That's definitely great advice to keep in mind for those who love accessorizing - going with a more simple dress can mean more room for fun jewelry and shoes!

    Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss, pictured all dressed up for prom on the left in Teen Vogue's photo above, started modeling at 14 years old, so she always got to take her fashion knowledge to prom, too! She is ranked on the Top 50 Models Women list by Models.com, and Vogue Paris named her one of the top 30 models of the 2000s. So, you can guess that just like Jacquelyn, she's modeled for the best of the best in the fashion industry - Christian Dior, Lacoste, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta, and many more.

As far as prom goes, Karlie told Teen Vogue:

"It was special to be able to wear dresses fresh off the runway to my high school dances! Even though nobody else ever knew who or what I was wearing, I did, and it always made me feel like a princess."

We're sure Karlie truly did look like a princess! If you want to read more from Karlie and Jacquelyn and the other models Teen Vogue talked to, check out their "Our Favorite Models Tell Us About Their Prom Looks" article.
