This week's prom trend is one of our favorites because we love seeing different patterns and innovative looks every year. Printed dresses are so creative and are always fresh since there's so many different ways to wear the trend! A print dress will always be a showstopper; whether it's animal print or polka dots, you'll be sure to have the most memorable dress of the night!

Printed dresses can either work with your figure or go against it, depending on the pattern and your body shape and height. So, just make sure to pick a pattern that suits your body type. If you find the right printed dress, it can be super figure flattering. The last prom trend we discussed was the increasingly popular short dresses trend. This week, it's all about the hi lo (or, high low) trend. For those of you who are a little iffy about the short dress look, hi lo is a little bit of both! The hi lo trend is super chic, and some may say a more elegant way to show off your legs!

Since hi lo is such a popular trend, there's many dresses out there to get the look: from sparkly, to print, to neon. Our favorites for this year are below:

Another type of hi lo dress that everybody is crazy about has two looks in one: the classic short dress + the hi lo style. How is this possible, you ask? Detachable skirts! Getting a dress that can be used in different ways is so genius! It's like buying two for the price of one. You can wear the detachable skirt for prom and then when you're heading over to the after prom party...just take it off! Or, you can even get more use out of the dress and wear it without the detachable skirt for another event. You decide!

Prom season is finally here and every week we are posting the most popular trends of this year! This week, it's all about sequins! This old Hollywood look has been making a comeback, and is definitely a show stopper. If you want to stand out from the crowd, this trend is a great choice!

Marissa and Cassandra discussed everything from hot celebrities to get style ideas from, to what the 3 most popular dresses are at Rissy Roo's this season.

About: What dress lengths are hot for 2013: long gowns or short mini dresses?
Marissa: 2013 is seeing a trend towards hi-low dresses and mini dresses, long gowns will always be popular for prom, but we are seeing many of our more progressive customers leaning towards dresses that show off their legs and still offer a glamorous formal look.

About: What colors are Rissy Roo's shoppers all about this year?
Marissa: We have seen an increasing number of girls gravitating towards jewel colors this season, royal/sapphire blue, emerald, red, and rich purples. We are also seeing many shoppers that are staying on the more serene side with shades of blush and nude.

About: Which celebs do you think provide the biggest inspiration for prom shopping?
Marissa: Our customers are inspired by the style of Taylor Swift, Kylie & Kendall Jenner, and Selena Gomez.

Wearing the color white is usually reserved for the summer months, but this year it's been given new life, with celebs and fashionistas wearing the color well through the winter! Taylor Swift has been seen wearing the color at a handful of red carpet events, with her rocking the color most recently at the Grammy Awards.

While it's not the most practical of colors, we love white because it brings elegance to any outfit. When it comes to wearing it, don't try to match shades - embrace the subtleties that comes with wearing pure white vs. ivory vs. cream, and don't be afraid to match different textures and fabrics. Don't wear white tights with the outfit, otherwise you risk starting to look like a ghost! Most importantly, any questions alluding to Labor Day are best simply ignored - they clearly just aren't a fashionista! Wear the color with confidence and pride.

If you have a formal party to attend soon, it's definitely a great color choice to feel part of the Winter Wonderland with all the snow that's been falling lately! Or, if you want to wait to rock it at prom, the color has clearly become an on-trend choice to wear year round. Our favorite white dresses are below - check them out!

When it comes to the classic evening gown, we love La Femme style 18631. It's a sheath gown with a v-neck fully embellished bodice flowing into a chiffon skirt. The back has thick embellished straps that form an X in the middle, and dips to a low open back.

Tony Bowls TS11368 is perfect if you're looking for a short prom dress or cocktail dress for a Winter Formal. It's a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, silver studded bodice, and a gathered illusion skirt.

For the ball gown look, check out Tiffany Designs style 16901. It's a strapless sweetheart ball gown with an iridescent stacked sequin bodice, a chunky A.B. rhinestone belt, and a full tulle ball gown skirt. It's a true princess gown!

With February 14th right around the corner, we picked out some of our favorite on-trend looks that are perfect for showing some V-Day love next week!

The Little Red Dress

February 14th immediately changes the classic Little Black Dress into the Little Red Dress and Little Pink Dress for one special night. Whether you're going on a hot date, or just having a night out with your closest friends, you can never go wrong with wearing a sexy red or pink dress on this day! Love is in the Air

Wearing clothes and accessories that say "Love" on them have been all the rage lately, so they'll definitely be the hot thing to wear on Valentine's Day! We thought this ring was simple, but so cute - a great way to show your love (no pun intended) for the holiday without going overboard. And, once you put it on, you'll probably never want to take it off!

While our store's always decked out in pink, we're also a huge fan of the color green here at Rissy Roo's because the local high school's color in the town our store's in (we're right behind the high school!) is green. So, we were of course excited when Pantone named emerald green their color of the year for 2013! A color that's abundant in nature, the lush, vibrant hue is said to instil balance and harmony.

It's the end of the first month of the new year, but the color is already everywhere! Celebrities like Zoe Saldana and Alicia Keys wore the color, and it will undoubtedly be seeing many more trips down the red carpet, so keep a look-out. It's a great color to wear on anything from your nails to a winter jacket, so make sure to give it a go in your outfits. As a rule of thumb, emerald green and black always work together, but you can also pair it with white and other shades of green.

With prom right around the corner, it's also a perfect color to choose for your dress. Wearing this exuberant color is without a doubt a great way to stand out from the crowd, and show off your keen fashion sense, too!
