  • Our Favorite Google Easter Eggs to Celebrate Easter!

Happy Easter Sunday to all of our Roo Girls! To celebrate, we did a little Easter Egg hunting...but not with the traditional Easter colorful eggs! Our Easter Egg Hunter was online with Google! Did you know that Google has created a bunch of "Easter Eggs" that you can search for online?

If you're new to the concept of "Easter Eggs" in the media, they are an intentional inside joke, feature, or hidden message. Over the years, Google has created their own "Easter Eggs" that are so fun to search for...and even play with! Check out the image below for our favorite Google Easter Eggs and start searching for some Easter fun!

    Google Easter Eggs 2014

And, here's our Google Easter Eggs list in text form to make the searching a little easier (you can just copy and past the terms into Google and hit "search!"):

    1. Type any actor's name followed by "bacon number" and Google will give you the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" value.
    2. Search for "askew" or "tilt" using Google and the search result will be displayed on an angle.
    3. Searching for "do a barrel roll" will cause the search result to rotate 360 degrees when displaying.
    4. Doing a Google Image Search for the term "Atari Breakout" will launch a playable version of Breakout.
    5. Searching for "Festivus" places a Festivus pole in the left side of the window.
    6. Searching for "Google Pacman" leads to a playable version of the game. Inserting 2 coins adds Ms. Pacman to the game for a 2 player version.
    7. And, of course, search for "RissyRoos.com" and find the best site for authentic designer dresses at guaranteed low prices!

And, don't forget - we have our very own Rissy Roo's Easter Egg this year: in our Easter Weekend Sale, you can get free lip gloss and a garment bag with your dress purchase! Just use promo code EASTERGIRL at checkout. The deal ends today, so get shopping!

  • Fun Spring Break Ideas For Every Budget

Your friends have talked about it for months planning away and setting up airfares and  tours for their awesome spring break getaway to a tropical destination. However, given the astronomical price of the trip, you will not be joining. There is no reason to be bummed out, though - a lot of girls spend spring break at home or on campus for many different reasons. So, for those hanging back, we came up with some ways to fill up your week without emptying your wallet, all while still enjoying your time like you were away on vacation! Read on for some fun and simple Spring Break ideas.

    Spring Break

    Road Trip It

Just because you didn't plan a lavish resort getaway doesn't mean you have to stay in the house all week. Grab a buddy and take a road trip to somewhere you haven't been in a while, possibly even to a family member's or old friend who moved away. This way, you could save cash on a place to stay. The trip will give you a chance to bond with someone, and have a real adventure. Remember to pack a cooler with drinks and snacks so you don't have to spend money on the road.

    Road Trip

    Volunteer

Be a do-gooder! Use your week off to do something to benefit others by volunteering somewhere like a community center, nursing home, or animal shelter. It's a great way to spend your week, and you'll for sure feel like it was time well-spent. For a list of places looking for help, check out www.volunteermatch.org.

    Spend Time Outdoors

Use the good weather to your advantage by getting a new outdoor hobby like bike riding or hiking. Take it to the beach and play volleyball or Frisbee in the sand! Make it an all day event by having a picnic or barbecue with family or friends. Not only is this good for your mind, but good for your body, too!

    Beach Volleyball

    Spring Cleaning

Rainy day? Spend some time inside spring cleaning! Go through your closet and make a pile of clothes you know you are never going to wear again. Then, donate the clothing to charity or bring higher priced items to a consignment shop. You will feel refreshed after you eliminate clutter and have room to buy some new Summer stuff.

    Focus on YOU!

Our last Spring break idea is to make sure to take some hardcore "you time." Be selfish for a few days and focus only on yourself. Catch up on sleep, or dive into a book you have always wanted to read. Learn something new by taking a dance or cooking class. The possibilities are endless!

  • Inside CHANEL Perfume

The perfume company CHANEL recently created a whole website to tell the history of the company and how it all came to be. There's so much interesting information behind the company and perfume that we wanted to share it with all of our Roo Girls! The story dates all the way back to 1883 when Gabrielle Chanel was born.

Of course, CHANEL No 5 perfume is the most well-known of the CHANEL collection, and is one of the most well-known perfumes of the world. So, we were happy to see that "Chapter 1" of "Inside CHANEL" started with the story of how CHANEL No 5 came to be! The fragrance was created in 1921 for the first time, and has such a beautiful story behind it. Watch it here:

    http://youtu.be/tRQa33dqyxI

We loved learning the story behind the perfume coming to be was that Chanel sought to create:

"A woman's perfume with a woman's scent. Her scent should be as important as her style of dress. A woman should wear perfume wherever she would like to be kissed."

Chanel quoteThe perfume was the first time a perfume wasn't based on only one floral scent, and it certainly made an impact on the perfume industry from there on out. It's become a classic and iconic scent that has truly tested time. It's even been honored by the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, and the famous artist Andy Warhol even included it in a series of his paintings! And of course, you can't look over Marilyn Monroe being known for wearing the perfume, revealing that she wears to bed, "just a few drops of No 5." And, ever since then, so many more celebrities, even Brad Pitt, have promoted the perfume. Our favorite part of the whole first video, though may be how it ended: "No 5 resists the whims of fashion and the passage of time, as of Mademoiselle Chanel had found the formula for the feminine eternal." It definitely sounds like she has!

There's so much more to the CHANEL story than just this Chapter 1 video, though, and definitely too much to include in only one blog post! There are 10 full "Chapters" to the story, as well as an interactive timeline, all on their website at Inside.Chanel.com. If you love CHANEL and CHANEL perfume, it's definitely a fun website to check out. Enjoy!

  • Promposals for Him: What Type of Promposal Girl are You?

With prom on the way, we are all super busy trying to find the prom dress and accessories of our dreams to ensure our night is perfect! Not to mention the organizing of plans and parties, we are exploring with hairstyles and makeup trends to figure out what kind of prom look we want. With all the shopping and searching and planning, we may have overlooked one minor detail...what about a date? If you haven't been asked yet, don't fret as there is still plenty of time for your dream guy to ask you. However, it's totally okay to take matters into your own hands and ask your crush or friend first! There are countless ways to go about asking someone to prom, so to get your creative juices flowing, below are two ways to go around 'promposals for him' - a more simple way, as well as a bolder approach. What kind of promposal girl would you be?

    Simple Promposal Approach

Whether coming from the guy or the girl, prom proposals are all about exploring your creative side and putting some extra thought into a clever way to ask your potential date. With that said, it doesn't mean that it has to be done in an over-the-top way. For a simple promposal idea, try incorporating something you know the other person likes or is interested in to show how much you care. We love this cute idea of "winging" the promposal with some chicken wings! First of all, what guy doesn't like wings?? And, secondly, it's a cute way to remind the person that you're asking that you are doing something sincere that you've never done before, and will hopefully be a reminder for him to be sincere with a response in return!

    Wing It Promposal idea

    Bold Promposal Approach

If you're a "go big or go home" type of girl, you may want to do something a little more bold for your promposal. Whether you just want a cute way to ask your boyfriend to prom, or you're on a mission to prove how much this your potential date MUST go to prom with you, or it just seems like something fun to do, a bold promposal can seem scary, but also very rewarding! Bolder, bigger ideas can also be fun ways to have friends aid you in the process! With all of the snow that's been coming down this weekend, we thought the below idea of carving our "PROM?" in the snow was such a cute idea! This one's bold in the sense that it's BIG, but it's super fun, which helps to take any scariness out of the idea.

    Snowy Promposal Idea

Whatever promposal idea or approach you decide to take, and whatever the outcome ends up being, just remember to have fun! Just like Prom Night, your promosal will be one that you'll remember forever, so make it special and keep it light-hearted. And, if you have any ideas of your own to share, leave us a comment below!

  • Pitch Perfect 2 is on Its Way!

As if I wasn't excited enough to see the first Pitch Perfect, they've decided to come out with Pitch Perfect 2 and I am so excited I can barley contain myself!

Pitch PerfectSo far leading ladies, Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are the only two girls from the pre-qual to be "officially" signed onto the second movie. And to be honest, those were the two girls I was most looking forward to! Rebel Wilson is HILARIOUS and I love Anna's rebel-chic style.

Anna Kendrick Rebel Wilson Pitch Perfect

The entire movie is one huge laugh and it's one of those movies that you talk about with your girlfriends for weeks after you've seen it. My friends and I couldn't stop laughing throughout the movie and found ourselves reciting lines throughout the weeks to follow.

    pitch perfect anna kendrick

Anna told Us Weekly in an interview, "I'm very excited! I mean I've signed on with no script, so you know, if it becomes about parasailing instead of singing, don't blame me!"

elizabeth banks john michael higgins pitch perfect

Signing with no script? Wow that's daring. But we have faith! Especially since Elizabeth Banks, who played an announcer at the A Cappella performances (you also may know her as Effie Trinket from the Hunger Games) will be directing the sequel.

Well Elizabeth, we can't wait to see what you got!...
