Our 2016 Rissy Roo's Prom Queen Contest is in full swing, and this past Friday (May 20th), we chose our very first weekly winner, better known as a Prom Princess. We're happy and excited to announce that our first Prom Princess is the beautiful Alyssa Torres!

Alyssa won a $50 gift certificate to RissyRoos.com, and will also be in the running in June to become our 2016 Rissy Roo's Prom Queen to win the grand prize of a $100 gift certificate.

We chose Alyssa because we loved how she rocked the color red throughout her entire prom look, from the prom dress, to her lipstick, to the pretty bouquet. It's a bold color, and she wore it with such style. The pretty red prom dress that Alyssa chose is Mac Duggal 65435A. It's a striking two piece prom dress with a top that features a sweetheart neckline and illusion netting that clasps together in the back.

"I purchased this red two-piece prom dress in March for my senior prom on May 6th. I have worn a Rissy Roo's dress for my past 3 formals. I could not have been more happy with my dress, I loved it!! Thank you ladies for helping me find a dress I loved yet again!"

So, we already know that you have a general idea of how you'll do your Valentine's Day makeup look, but the special day is quickly approaching and it's certainly time to put the rest of your outfit together. Valentine's Day is almost here, so of course the colors of red, pink, and purple are top of mind for us Roo Girls right now. Another one of our favorite days to dress up is almost here... Halloween! Which means, if you haven't put your perfect Halloween costumer together yet, it's time to get going. One of our favorite ways to get a super stylish and sexy Halloween look is to pair Halloween accessories with little black or red dresses and rompers.

So, to help get our Roo Girls in the Halloween mood, we put a together a Halloween outfit that's as easy as it gets to copy yourself: a devil outfit! All you need is a little red dress, a pitchfork, devil horns, devil tail (a nice-to-have), red accessories (like earrings, a necklace, or a bracelet), and paint your nails red, of course!

We can't believe 2014 is coming to a quick end, and 2015 is almost here! We're sure you're deep in holiday 2014 shopping, but Pantone, the world-renowned authority on color, is one step ahead of you and is ready to bring on 2015! Pantone has named its Pantone Color of the Year 2015 recently, and it is... Marsala!

Never heard of the color Marsala before? It's a deep red that will surely get you even more into the Holiday 2014 mood! Pantone describes it as:

"A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls....The impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors."

Whether rocking this color for the holidays, prom, or any other semi-formal or formal event, this is definitely a color to stand out in. Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, described, "Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth." The 2014 Kids Choice Awards were just a few days ago, and they were so fun to watch! Two of our favorite girls of the year, Ariana Grande and Jennifer Lawrence, took the show bringing home so many orange blimps! Ariana took home a blimp for her show Sam and Cat, and also took one home for Favorite TV Actress. J. Law had the big win of the night with 3 blimps: 1 for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as Favorite Movie, Favorite Movie Actress, and Favorite Female Buttkicker! Congrats, Girls!

As you know, the show wasn't all we were watching, though. Our eyes were glued to the Red...ahem...Orange Carpet watching all of the lady celebrities strut their style. Our favorite dressed girl of the night was undoubtedly the lovely Lea Michele. She looked so gorgeous in her coral color lace short dress there was no doubt in our heads that she was our favorite look of the night!

Plus, she had such a fun time honing her inner Marylin Monroe that how could you not love her??

Another reason we love her Kids Choice Awards look? Because it's so easy (and so in style) to copy for Prom 2014! For a Lea Michele dress look, there's two La Femme dresses that we're loving - check them out below:

La Femme style 20386 is an adorable strapless tulle dress with a ruffled hem. The bodice is covered with lace and scattered jewels, making this dress so celeb glam!

La Femme style 19160 is all over lace! This v-neck sequin cocktail dress with a criss cross ruched bodice seems simple, but has so much detail to it. Multi shaped iridescent stones adorn the neckline and straps to give it an extra bit if sparkle.

Whether one of these dresses, or another short coral dress that you love, have fun accessorizing just like Lea, too! We loved that Lea kept the jewelry to a minimum and chose to brighten up the whole look with neon pink lipstick. Such a perfect combo and unique way to rock the coral color!

The 86th Annual Academy Awards have finally come and gone, and they were as great as we could have ever expected! Ellen DeGeneres was destined to be the host of the Oscars - she was so funny! And, we absolutely loved Jared Leto's acceptance speech for his work in Dallas Buyers Club (of course, we were also totally in love with the way he looked!). But, as always, our eyes were on the Red Carpet and all the gorgeous dresses that the celebrities wore! Yesterday we showed your our favorite Oscar Worthy Prom Dresses, but now that the lady celebrities have showed off their dresses, here's our best dressed on the 2014 Oscars Red Carpet Check and how you can steal their looks for prom.

Anna Kendrick blew us away at the Academy Awards! The Twilight star's black cut-out and sheer dress was so on-trend and looked so perfect on her! We also loved how she accessorized with red nails and a matching red purse. Red and black are always a great combination, and Anna showed us exactly why.

You can so easily get Anna's look with Night Moves by Allure style 7017. This striking gown features similar geometric sheer cut-outs to Anna's gown and is form-fitting in all of the right ways. This dress also comes in Ivory and Red if you want a color that stands our a little more than the classic black look.

Jennifer Lawrence always comes up with stylish looks to wear to awards ceremonies and this year's Oscars was definitely no different. We loved the bright, bold red peplum dress that she chose to wear. She looked so classy!

To get The Hunger Games star's look, check out Jovani style 73539. It's a sexy long evening gown that features a beautiful sheer sweetheart neckline, peplum at the waist, sexy open back and beautiful tulle panel detailing at the skirt. It's such a unique way to wear peplum at prom!

Kristin Chenoweth was all glammed out in gold at the Oscars and we loved it! What better place to wear gold than at the Academy Awards? The sparkly patterns against the tulle material of the skirt on Kristin's dress made for a beautiful red carpet look.

To glitter in gold like Kristin, Nina Canacci style 9022 is your dress. This shimmering ensemble features a strapless and sweetheart neckline. An array of sequined stripes fully covers the entire silhouette, while the side and drop waist is embellished with floral sequins for added sparkle and flair. The body skimming shape creates a captivating design that will definitely have you feeling like a celebrity at prom!

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we know that it means that it's also time for Sweetheart Dances! So, to make sure that all of our Roo Girls are ready to go, we wanted to pick out our favorite sweetheart dance dresses for a fun night of celebrating V-day. Last year, we showed you both red and pink dresses that could be worn to a Sweetheart Dance, but this year there's so many absolutely gorgeous red dresses that we're obsessing over the classic V-Day color. Check them out below!

Dave & Johnny style 10456 has us gushing for Valentine's Day! This short tulle dress is so perfect for V-Day with its high illusion neckline, sequin bust, cap sleeves, illusion back, and little bits of lace around the neckline. It's a great combination of glam and sultry for a Sweetheart Dance.

Terani style P3003 is a perfect pick for lots of pretty lace, tulle, and the so popular sheer. This strapless sweetheart dress has a flared mesh skirt and sheer bodice that's accented with lace appliqué and is great if you're looking for more of a classic prom-style look for your Sweetheart Dance dress. This dress also comes in an Ivory/Nude color, so if you want to stay away from the classic red V-Day look, this dress may be for you. Ivory and White dresses are definitely a perfect way to still show your love for the holiday if you don't like red!

For a fitted cocktail dress look, we love Sherri Hill style 21185. It's a unique cocktail dress with an asymmetrical neckline and funky embellished one sleeve dress. With a form fitted mini skirt, this dress is sure make an impression. This dress comes in so many different colors other than the Red/Nude color above: Black/Nude, Navy/Nude, and Nude. An LBD is also always a great option for a Sweetheart Dance, so choosing this dress in the Black/Nude color option is definitely a great choice, as well!
