Spring is in full swing and we are having so much fun with the Spring/Summer 2014 trends! What are we loving for this week's "Fashion Friday?" Flowy printed pants and an elegant crop top! The crop top is a difficult shirt to wear without looking overly provocative or sloppy, but the right top for your body plus the perfect pair of printed pants can make this an outfit to wear all weekend from afternoon shopping to an evening out to dinner with friends. A sleek jacket and an awesome pair of heels pull the outfit together for a surely show stopping look.

Don't forget: summer isn't here yet, so the weather is still fluctuating from warm to cool. So, to make sure you're not showing off too much skin when the cold air comes through, we suggest bringing a light casual jacket or blazer to tie the look together, especially after the sun goes down. From the runways of Paris to the streets of New York City, there is a fabulously bold makeup trend that is written (painted) on every girls face! Although soft pinks and ethereal silvers are also big for Spring/Summer 2014, it seems like shades of orange and coral are all the rage. This orange craze isn't just the new classic red lip either, as it has become a beauty staple on eyes and cheeks, too!

This popping hue is so versatile and fun, it can be worn from morning to-night! Many girls have the misconception that these orange and coral shades can only be worn with certain skin tones, but the truth of the matter is they can be put on every face as long as the proper color is chosen and applied correctly. We recommend girls with warmer skin tones try something bright, perhaps with more tangerine notes. If you have cooler skin, try for something more bold and on the stronger coral/red side. Also, if choosing a matte orange lipstick, avoid adding anything extra like gloss and liner. Let the lips do all the talking!

When adding this shade to cheeks and eyes, it will give a bright hint of sunshine. If you are tan it will give you the right amount of glow, while if you are more fair-skinned, it will give cheeks and eyes a beautiful, unique pop.

Just remember when using these shades to try not to over-do it. Allow your face's natural beauty to add to the color, not the other way around. Try this trend for prom or any special occasion (Graduation, perhaps?) and I am sure everyone will be amazed how awesome you look!

Since the seasons are changing, it has been quite the challenge to find the "perfect" look these days. Earlier this week, we talked about spring casual outfits, but there's one great spring look that we didn't mention: blazers! Until the weather is adequate for the more revealing summer wear, which we have been craving all winter, we find blazers are the perfect fashion piece to make any outfit look super trendy and complete! Plus, the look as been all over the runways.

Although prints are very "in" for the Spring/Summer 2014  season, a very minimalistic approach was taken by designers when it comes to blazers. As you can see above, a pastel blazer can be worn with shorts, a skirt, pants, or even a romper, and still look fabulous for day-to-day wear. A huge bonus by adding a blazer is you can still look great without a tremendous amount of trying or over doing-it by getting too dressed up. It will always have you looking both classic AND classy. The blazer is also the perfect piece of clothing to throw on after work for an event or special dinner!

As you can see, this light jacket can be paired with any type of outfit and it doesn't have to be plain. From striped to polka dots, everything works for Spring 2014! If you want to wear pants, shorts or a skirt, a blazer if the perfect complement, and is the easiest way to dress an outfit up or down. If it's colder out on the night of your prom, you could even throw a blazer on over your prom dress for a cute extra layer! It's always fun to dress a blazer up with a less "business-y" look like a prom dress, as it makes for stand-out contrasts. How are you wearing your blazer this spring? Your friends have talked about it for months planning away and setting up airfares and  tours for their awesome spring break getaway to a tropical destination. However, given the astronomical price of the trip, you will not be joining. There is no reason to be bummed out, though - a lot of girls spend spring break at home or on campus for many different reasons. So, for those hanging back, we came up with some ways to fill up your week without emptying your wallet, all while still enjoying your time like you were away on vacation! Read on for some fun and simple Spring Break ideas.

Road Trip It

Just because you didn't plan a lavish resort getaway doesn't mean you have to stay in the house all week. Grab a buddy and take a road trip to somewhere you haven't been in a while, possibly even to a family member's or old friend who moved away. This way, you could save cash on a place to stay. The trip will give you a chance to bond with someone, and have a real adventure. Remember to pack a cooler with drinks and snacks so you don't have to spend money on the road.

Volunteer

Be a do-gooder! Use your week off to do something to benefit others by volunteering somewhere like a community center, nursing home, or animal shelter. It's a great way to spend your week, and you'll for sure feel like it was time well-spent. For a list of places looking for help, check out www.volunteermatch.org.

Spend Time Outdoors

Use the good weather to your advantage by getting a new outdoor hobby like bike riding or hiking. Take it to the beach and play volleyball or Frisbee in the sand! Make it an all day event by having a picnic or barbecue with family or friends. Not only is this good for your mind, but good for your body, too!

Spring Cleaning

Rainy day? Spend some time inside spring cleaning! Go through your closet and make a pile of clothes you know you are never going to wear again. Then, donate the clothing to charity or bring higher priced items to a consignment shop. You will feel refreshed after you eliminate clutter and have room to buy some new Summer stuff.

Focus on YOU!

Our last Spring break idea is to make sure to take some hardcore "you time." Be selfish for a few days and focus only on yourself. Catch up on sleep, or dive into a book you have always wanted to read. Learn something new by taking a dance or cooking class. The possibilities are endless!

We can't believe March is officially here already! It may still be freezing cold out, but Spring is just around the corner (the first day of Spring in 2014 is March 20th...only 16 days away!) and it's definitely time to start making sure you're Prom Ready if you haven't started yet.

What do we mean when we say that it's time to get prom ready? Well, it may be too early on to have a date yet and to start planning some of the simpler things like the limo and what you and your friends will be doing for After Prom, but it's definitely time to start putting your outfit together. Finding that perfect prom dress is obviously the most important factor, but don't forget that it's also important to pick out your high heels, a clutch, jewelry and accessories, and even your makeup and hairstyle.

We recommend starting with finding your dress first, since that can be the most tedious process with deciding what color, overall style, and length you want. You also want to make sure to leave enough time to get the dress hemmed to fit you perfectly. But, some people are obsessed wearing stand-out accessories, like eye-turning heels or a bold purse. If you're one of those people, you may find it helpful to plan your dress around the shoes or purse you want to wear with your outfit.

If you need some inspiration on where to start and love the dress in our image above, it's Nina Canacci style 7014. It's a hand beaded chiffon sleeveless gown that features a sweetheart neckline and a V shaped back. 2014 is officially here, and if you haven't made (or started) your 2014 New Year's Resolutions yet, it's definitely time! Picking out a New Year's Resolution(s) is a great way to set goals for the coming year and make sure you stick to them. So, we definitely recommend every Roo Girl to make a resolution or two and work to stay on-track to keep it. Whether it's making sure you dress your best no matter where you're heading, like the resolution we talked about a few days ago, eating healthier, working out more, or just reading more books, pick something to strive for that will make you feel like a better person once you complete the goal.

If you're just struggling to pick our a resolution, we're here to help you! One of our favorite fashion blogs The Glitter Guide (can you guess why it's one of our favorites??) recently posted their 2014 New Years Resolutions, and we're loving it! They came up with a list of resolutions that are so great not only for a Glitter Girl, but for a Roo Girl too, so we wanted to make sure to share their list. Check it out below!

Just because a clothing item is trendy or expensive does not always mean it looks good. You've probably heard it time and time again - "dress according to your body type." Well, it's the truth! 

To figure out how to best dress for your body time, it's always helpful to take a cue from celebrities. Let's take Kim Kardashian for example. This girl has every top designer at her fingertips, yet she is a repeat offender of wearing unflattering, tight, clothing. Don't get us wrong, we love Kim K. and her curves! She definitely has impeccable taste, and when she gets it right she looks stunning.

However, one thing Kim seems to forget is that dressing for your body type is major. You do not want to end up with camel toe, a wardrobe malfunction or swollen feet. It's very important to keep your look classy and sexy and show off those curves in style. You can see Kim at her best looking classy in cocktail dresses above, and her forgetting the meaning of fashion in the images of her swollen and peplum outfit below.

With that said, one celeb that always gets it right and is a personal favorite of ours at Rissy Roo's is Beyonce. Why? Because she is always polished and looking amazing, no matter where she is heading!

Just like Beyonce (and sometimes Kim K), when picking out that PERFECT outfit, whether it be a shirt, jeans, dress, or shoes, take into account YOUR body type. There are many different body types, so it's most important to figure out exactly what your body type is and read up on the best and most flattering ways to dress for it.

For example, women with the hourglass body tend to wear form-fitting clothes. This can look amazing (and who doesn't want to show off their curves?!), but ladies, we need to leave a little to the imagination, as well! There is a fine line between classy and trashy - especially when it comes to showing off those curves. This tends to be where Kim K. falls short when dressing up - she wears clothes that show off her hourglass figure, but aren't necessarily figure flattering. Marilyn Monroe said it many years ago, and her thoughts still hold true today: "Your clothes should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to show you're a lady."

But, there are some rules that hold true for all body types! I have found that NO MATTER what body shape you have, making your legs look longer is most often very flattering. Depending on your height, you can easily alter the way your legs look by choosing dresses and skirts that fall at certain lengths on your thighs. You can also pick shirt lengths to help lengthen your torso, and certain pants styles that can help give you a figure-flattering look, all depending on the type of legs you have.

One rule to always keep in mind: no matter what you're wearing, make sure that you're comfortable with your look! Confidence is key to looking your best, and comfort is one important way to make sure that your confidence is high! And, always remember: beauty comes in many shapes and sizes!

If you're wearing a dress with the trend-setting collar style, just make sure you're wearing a hairstyle where the collar can stand out and take the spotlight on your outfit. For backless dresses, it's the perfect opportunity to wear your hair in a low hanging ponytail look, which is a very popular style right now.

Accessories can be just as important as your dress! We live by the philosophy of "less is more" when it comes to accessories. If you're going with a simpler style dress, it can be fun to pick one big or bold accessory as the stand-out piece of your outfit. This season, we recommend going crazy with your purse - using your clutch as your outfit's stand-out piece is always a great choice.

When it comes to choosing your New Years Eve dress, instead of choosing a straight-cut neckline, consider something a little more flirtatious. NYE is definitely a night for flirtatious and sexy looks, so don't be afraid to go that route. Both lace and leather are great choices for a sexy NYE look and have been popular trends lately. If you go with lace and leather, keep your makeup simple but sexy by pairing it with pale pink lip gloss and black eyeliner.

The shoes may be last, but they certainly are not least when it comes to your NYE outfit! Amp up your party attire with unexpected footwear like day-to-night flats, comfortable wedges, or sexy platforms. For simple dresses, try pairing it with a pair of shoes with fun embellishments.
