Miss America 2018 Cara Mund Wins In JOVANI!

Another year has gone by, and a new Miss America has been crowned! Sunday, September 10, 2017 marked the Miss America 2018 pageant, held in our hometown of Atlantic City, NJ. The 91st Miss America crown was given to a first-time state winner. The history-making Miss America is Miss North Dakota, Cara Mund!

Not only is this the first time North Dakota has won the crown, but it's also the first time that a woman from her state has placed in the top five. Cara Mund did an amazing job, from being judged in categories like talent, evening wear, lifestyle, fitness, and their answer to an onstage question. During the talent portion of the pageant, Cara wowed the judges with a jazz dance performance to Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel." Our favorite part of Cara winning the Miss America crown, though, was what she was wearing when crowned. She won in a Jovani dress!

Cara represented North Dakota in a beautiful chic and sophisticated black velvet Jovani gown that featured a unique keyhole detail on both the front and back. It's style 27462, and is available for custom order.

Cara Mund received a particularly difficult question, asked by Judge Maria Menounos. Judge Menounos asked Cara for her thoughts on President Donald Tump withdrawing the United States from the climate accord. Cara responded, "I do believe it's a bad decision. Once we reject that, we take ourselves out of the negotiation table and that's something that we really need to keep in mind. There is evidence that climate change is existing so whether you believe it or not, we need to be at that table, and I just think it's a bad decision on behalf of the United States."

Cara is a Brown University graduate. Not only is she an Ivy League graduate, but according to the pageant's website, she also plans to attend law school in the future. Miss America was accepted into Notre Dame Law School as well as other schools, but decided to defer enrollment until after pageant duties. She already made history once, but is striving to make history again by becoming the first woman elected governor of her state. She's on her way, as she recently interned with the U.S. Senate.
First runner-up was Miss Missouri, Jennifer Davis.
Congratulations to Cara! We cannot wait to see the great things she does in the coming year. Hopefully she'll be wearing many more Jovani dresses, too!
