Another year has gone by, and a new Miss America has been crowned! Sunday, September 10, 2017 marked the Miss America 2018 pageant, held in our hometown of Atlantic City, NJ. The 91st Miss America crown was given to a first-time state winner. The history-making Miss America is Miss North Dakota, Cara Mund!

Not only is this the first time North Dakota has won the crown, but it's also the first time that a woman from her state has placed in the top five. Cara Mund did an amazing job, from being judged in categories like talent, evening wear, lifestyle, fitness, and their answer to an onstage question. During the talent portion of the pageant, Cara wowed the judges with a jazz dance performance to Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel." Our favorite part of Cara winning the Miss America crown, though, was what she was wearing when crowned. She won in a Jovani dress!

Even though we're still in awe over Miss America 2016's winning dress, another year has come and gone, and a new Miss America has been crowned! The Miss America 2017 pageant was held this past Sunday in our very own hometown of Atlantic City, NJ. It was certainly a fun event to watch, especially with the presidential election coming up.

While all 51 of the contestants looked beautiful and had the talent and smarts to back up that beauty, Miss Arkansas, Savvy Shields, walked away with the Miss America 2017 crown.

With a first name like Savvy, we expected her to have some savvy skills, and she definitely did! During the talent portion, she put on an amazing jazz routine, which won her the preliminary talent competition earlier in the week.

She was asked a controversial question about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during the question-and-answer portion of the competition. The judge asked, "Hillary Rodham Clinton, what do you think?"  Continue reading →

Nikki Librizzi showed off in two gorgeous Rissy Roo's dresses over the past few months, and we're obsessing just a little (or a lot). She attended her prom back in May, and in June she competed in the America's National Teenager Scholarship Organization (ANTSO) Pageant and walked away with a crown! Of course, she dressed in style in Sherri Hill dresses for both events. Read on to see what she wore to her prom and pageant and what title she won at the ANTSO pageant.

For prom, Nikki chose Sherri Hill 50157, a gorgeous two piece gown. This spectacular creation features a dazzling jeweled illusion crop to with an open back and a fitted jersey skirt with matching beadwork along the waistline. The Miss New Jersey 2016 Pageant was held this past weekend in our very own backyard, Ocean City, NJ. The pageant had the perfect backdrop on the Ocean City boardwalk in the Music Peir, and all of the contestants looked gorgeous.

Ultimately, it all came down to one girl, and it was a very special girl this year, as she is no stranger to the Miss New Jersey pageant. Brenna Weick, of Mantua, Gloucester County, is our new Miss New Jersey 2016! After finishing as the runner-up twice and the second runner-up in the last three Miss New Jersey pageants, she was finally crowned Miss New Jersey herself. The Miss USA pageant is always fun to watch, as there are so many talented, beautiful women, all competing for the right to wear one crown. This year's competition was especially fierce, but it ultimately came down to two: Miss District of Columbia, Deshauna Barber, and Miss Hawaii, Chelsea Hardin. They were both asked difficult interview questions, and stunned all with their answers. It couldn't have been a closer call, but Miss District of Columbia, Deshauna Barber, is now reporting for duty as our new Miss USA 2016!

Yup, that's right: she is reporting for duty because she is an Army Reserve officer, and showed just how much the army means to her in her response to her interview question. The 26-year-old from the nation's capital was asked by judge Joe Zee whether the Pentagon's decision to open up all combat roles to women had, "put political correctness over our military ability to perform." The 1st Lt. responded in style, saying, "As a woman in the United States Army, I think it was an amazing job by our government to allow women to integrate into every branch of the military."  Continue reading →

This is almost too cute to believe. One of our littlest Roo Girls, Ryleigh Flynn,  just placed as the third Runner Up in the 2016 Miss Sugar Pageant, and she looks absolutely adorable! Ryleigh's mom, Jamie, recently sent us photos in her winning Rissy Roo's dress, both on stage and with her trophy. All of our hearts are melting at Rissy Roo's!

When Jamie sent us the pictures, she included the note:

"Her dress came in and fit perfect! Thank you! She placed third in her pageant! She participated in the [Miss Sugar] pageant with 10 beautiful girls and is eager to do it all again next year! The dress came in and it fit her like a glove!"

Ryleigh chose Lexie by Mon Cheri TW21534 as her pageant dress, a great choice for both pageants and parties. It's a lace and taffeta above-the-knee A-line dress with cap sleeves and a bateau neckline. The stunning lace bodice has a hand-beaded waistband and a full circular gathered taffeta skirt. We're so excited and proud to announce that our very own Teghan Gregson has recently been crowned the Miss New Hampshire Outstanding Teen 2016! Teghan had come by the Rissy Roo's store in Linwood, NJ earlier this year during Miss America weekend in Atlantic City, NJ to find a perfect dress for her own pageant, and she certainly did find that perfect dress because she's now a pageant queen!

Teghan's mom, Erica, recently sent us some beautiful pictures of Teghan all dressed up, with some very kind words to accompany the pictures. Check out what she had to say below.

We certainly know why Teghan won the evening wear preliminary award - that dress, of course! She picked a look that couldn't have been more unique in her pink and black Sherri Hill dress. All eyes were certainly on Teghan in her beautiful pageant look. We're sure everyone already knows about the mix-up that happened during the Miss Universe 2015 pageant, as it was all over the news and left Miss Columbia understandably devastated. We certainly feel for Miss Columbia, and the new Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach (former Miss Philippines), does, too. She wrote a touching Facebook post on the Miss Universe Facebook page acknowledging Miss Columbia, Ariadna Gutierrez, for her amazing job throughout the pageant and pleading for peace amongst those still bickering about what happened during the pageant.
