Promposals have been getting more and more popular each year, and this Prom 2015 season has definitely taken the prom proposals to a whole new level. No more does simply writing a note with a accompanying flowers or a teddy bear work. Now, it's all about dressing up as Prince Charming for the day or coming up with some other totally unique idea.

Well, Amesbury High School junior Nick Fortuna, from Boston, Massachusetts, certainly found a very new and unique way to turn the normal note and flower routine into a very special promposal for his girlfriend Lauren Fedorchak. Believe it or not, Nick got the police involved in delivering a promposal! Nick asked police officer Ronald Guilmette to pull over his girlfriend at a traffic stop. Lauren gave the officer her license and registration. When the police officer returned, she received a "ticket," but instead of a traffic citation, the ticket said, "Prom with Tuna?"

Nick was waiting in Officer Guilmette's police car the whole time. Once Lauren was given her ticket, he came over to Lauren's car to surprise her in purse and give her flowers. Of course, Lauren said "YES!"

There have been so many amazing promposals this year, but this one may have taken the cake in our book! It's pretty impressive to get the police involved! And, major props to the Amesbury Police Department for being such good sports and helping Nick with his promposal. What do you think of this police promposal? With New Year's Eve 2015 officially here, we wanted to take a moment to wish all of our Roo Girls a fabulous, glamorous, and sparkly New Year!

Did you catch the Mid Season Finale of Pretty Little Liars Season 5 last week? It was such an intense ending to such a great TV series, and we can't believe we are now on hiatus until December to follow the Pretty Little Liars girls further down the rabbit hole! But, the mid season finale wasn't the only reason we were excited to watch Episode 12, "Taking This One To the Grave" of PLL at Rissy Roo's. It was also the debut of our Homecoming 2014 ad, which debuted for our local Roo Girls in the Atlantic, Cape May, and Gloucester Counties in New Jersey and included a special promo.

Now that Labor Day has passed, and it's officially Homecoming 2014 season, we want to share the TV ad with you, in case you are a local Roo Girl that missed the finale, or one of our national...or international Roo Girls! We love summer...but we're also huge fans of the fall months because of Homecoming, and because while it may be a littler cooler out, the fall is still perfect weather for dresses. So, we were happy to hear of some exciting news from Starbucks to help us get into the fall (and Homecoming) mood! Although autumn doesn't technically start until September 23rd, the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte may be coming sooner than you think! Nothing says fall like everything pumpkin, afterall!

The infamous drink (it even has it's very own Twitter handle!) isn't set to return until September 2nd, but a Starbucks representative recently hinted at an early release: "As in previous years, there may be an opportunity for customers to gain early access to this seasonal favorite."

That's not the only clue that Starbucks has revealed, though. The official Twitter account for the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (@TheRealPSL) has been hinting that the drink will be back next week! Check out some of the hints Starbucks tweeted:

We can definitely second that "YAAAAAS" and will be following @TheRealPSL with eager anticipation! After all, what's better to pair with fall dress styles than a warm drink in your hand like apple cider or a Pumpkin Spice Latte?! We can only hope that Starbucks offers a special Summer Pumpkin Spice Latte on ice! Bring on the pumpkin!

It looks like not all dream prom dates consist of hot hunk musicians and A-list actors! One Connecticut girl had her eyes on taking someone else to her prom, and he was definitely more than the average person to appear randomly on Page Six...it's Vice President Joe Biden!

It turns out Talia Masseli, a student at Newington High School in Newington, Connecticut had a deep desire to have Biden escort her to her Senior Prom. She made this decision back in the Fall and took priority in writing him as soon as possible explaining, “I am inviting you so far in advance because I’m sure many 17-year-old girls send you prom invitations, and I had to beat them to it.” She later cheerily announced, “I could only tolerate a high school dance if I was to be escorted by the most delightful man in America.” Way to go Talia! If this was an election for sweetest and most confident promposal, you would have our votes!

 Even though the Vice President attending Talia's prom would have been the ultimate fairytale, Biden had a scheduling conflict that did not permit him to be in Connecticut at the same time as the event. However, Talia did receive a sweet ending! Talia got a package at her home before the prom with a beautiful corsage made of red, white, and blue flowers along with a note from Joe Biden on official White House stationary. He expressed,  “I am flattered, but my schedule will not permit me to be in Connecticut on Friday evening, but I hope you will accept this corsage and enjoy your prom as much as I did mine.” Wow, what a guy!

Even though Talia didn't get to go to prom with her dream guy, she still has a wonderful story and an extra special gift! Vice President Biden invited her to visit Washington, DC this summer, which she plans to do!

We have such an exciting prom dress story to share with you from one of our customers! Roo Girl Tori Springer had her senior prom this year, and on her search for her perfect prom dress while on a serious budget, she came to Rissy Roo's for help. Here's her story that her mom and dad, Mary and Vince, sent to us about them having some prom fun with her daughter:

Dear Shelly,

My daughter Tori's senior prom was May 17th and with her father's recent operation and all that goes with that, we were on a serious dress budget. We looked all over (but knowing you had the best dresses) we went in to check your sale items and then she tried on the Papparazzi dress and fell in love with it. Sadly, we left without it and although she was understanding, I knew from that moment on, no other dress could compare for her. Thinking about this being her last prom and her upcoming scoliosis surgery, it was only right that we do something to make her night extra special. I just want to thank you so much when you came over to us that day, and offered the 10% discount, that really made a difference. Below is a link to how we presented it to her (had to trick her a little :) and some photos of her in it. We also have a 13 year old daughter, and I know there's only one dress shop we'll be going to in the future,

We were so excited to see today's Google Doodle! Why? Because it's in celebration of Audrey Hepburn's 85th birthday! Not only that, but the doodle was done in pink and black - our favorite color combination at Rissy Roo's!

If you don't know much about Audrey Hepburn, she's an actress and fashion icon from Hollywood's Golden Age, famous for her lead role in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. She was born on May 4, 1929 in Brussels, but moved to London in 1948 to continue training as a ballet dancer.

She is considered one of the most beautiful women ever, and rose to be a star in the film world after acting in several British movies. She has awards to prove it, too! She won an Oscar, Golden Globe, and a BAFTA for her role in the film Roman Holiday. Other than Breakfast at Tiffany's, she also starred in the classic My Fair Lady.

She was known for being a philanthropist, too! Later in her life, she devoted herself to working with UNICEF on various good causes. She died at age 63 in Switzerland after a battle with cancer.

Audrey was a stunning and admirable person in every aspect of her life, from her film roles, to being a fashion icon, to the work she did in her personal life as a philanthropist and how strong she stayed through her battle with cancer. Happy birthday, Audrey!

We were so excited this week to see a promposal...right in the parking lot of our store at Rissy Roo's in Linwood, NJ! Highschooler Tyler had the creative idea to make his date's car into her prom proposal by using car paint to write the promposal on her windshield. The promposal said:

"Will you go to Prom with me?

--  Yes!  --  No  --  (Choose 1)  -- Love, Tyler."

We especially loved all of the cute hearts that were drawn all around the windshielf! The lucky date clearly said YES, since the "Yes!" was circled on the car, and she's now already at Rissy Roo's picking out a dress!

It will definitely help to keep any feeling of pressure or anxiety to a minimum! Plus, once the date says "yes," they'll get to show off the promposal to all of their friends for weeks to come, which is always fun.
