  • Homecoming 2012: Start Shopping Online!

Styles for Fall Homecoming Dress collections have been hitting the inter-webs since the day Prom season ended.  With months until the next school year even begins, it seems that dress shopping this summer is a little farfetched, but think again!  Shopping for a Homecoming dress now means more widespread style and size selections for girls out there looking for their dream gowns.

The 2012 Homecoming season will be draped in lace, and a lot of sparkle!  For your dance this fall you might want to wear a short dress, and save the floor-length ones for Prom in 2013.  Short cocktail dresses this year feature sequin designs and lace accents that are unique and stylish.  Vintage looks seem to be stirring up the most attention.  Sparkly dresses are everywhere, coming from designers like Sherri Hill, Alyce Paris, Tony Bowls, and Clarrise.  Sleek, fitted skirts and wide, poufy styles are being released, so you’re sure to find a dress that suits your personal style.

If you plan on taking part in Homecoming court, or are looking for a more formal dress, long evening gown trends seem to be favoring a sweetheart bodice and empire waistline this year.  These long skirt styles make for a more regal look, and for those of you who hate wearing insanely high heels, this style makes you look a bit taller too.

There are so many unique dresses out there right now, so don’t miss out on them when the crowds roll in this August and September.  Homecoming dress websites are posting hundreds of dresses every week.  It might still be summer, but designers are already in full swing making sure their fashions are looking great.  The perfect dress for you is waiting out there somewhere, now it’s just time to find it!

  • Celeb Watch - Blake Lively Style

Chosen as the face of Gucci’s new perfume “Premiere,” Gossip Girl Blake Lively is known for her star quality on the runway, and on screen.   We decided to take a look at some of Blake’s favorite styles to see what fashions she loves most.  If you want to get this Gossip Girl look check out the dresses below.

Blake loves wearing short, simple dresses, covered in sequins!  This style she wore for a Gossip Girl shoot features a deep V-neck and lots of big, blue sequins.  You can get a similar look with one of these sequin covered, sparkly dresses from Alyce Paris:

    A.  Alyce After Five Cocktail Style 4267 – A dazzling strapless number with bright sequins and a sweetheart neckline.

    B. Alyce After Five Cocktail Style 4260 – The perfect short party dress with v-neck and cutout back.

Bold colors are in style this summer, and Blake Lively definitely knows how to rock red!  This dress, worn to a Coca Cola benefit event, is covered in a unique red velvet fabric pattern.  If you want to make a bold fashion statements then try on a red dress:

    C. Scala Style 14315 – Covered in beautiful beading, this dress is one of a kind.  With one sleeve and a scoop neckline this short dress would definitely turn heads.

    D. Sherri Hill Style 2938 – This red dress features a broad bow waistband and sweetheart neckline.  Its intricate silver facets make it just as unique as Blake’s dress.

Blake wore this sheer white with lace dress to a movie premiere, and the paparazzi couldn’t get enough of it!  Her simple fish tail braid looks great with the classic style of her dress, showing off her down to earth personality.  If you want to look lovely in lace too, these dresses are two of the hottest styles this year:

    E. Sherri Hill Style 2954 – This strapless party dress has a notched neckline and lace skirt.  This fun and flirty style would fit Blake well too!

    F. Sherri Hill Style 2957 – Twinkling accents cover the bodice of this short, scoop neck dress.  It’s lace skirt and cap sleeves match Blake Lively’s classic style.

  • ** Trend Alert ** Prints Part I: Spotted!

Open a fashion magazine lately? If you're reading this blog, I'd assume you have and if you took the time to flip through it, I'd assume you came across a page dedicated to Animal Prints.  Animal prints have gained momentum in our wardrobes. First we started with one piece, maybe a cardigan or a tank top. Next came Animal Prints in our jewelry and handbags, followed by shoes and now larger pieces like jackets and dresses. It is only right that we mention that this includes prom dresses.

Many people assume that most Animal Prints are leopard.  This is an easy error and leopard, without a doubt, has been the most popular, but leopard, jaguar and cheetah are all similar to each other as you can see below.  The three are so similar and common that many of us assume one as the other. The chart below can help you to distinguish the difference in prints. Other popular prints this season include tiger, zebra and giraffe.

Prom dress designers are jumping at the chance to use Animal Prints in their designs for Spring 2011. From the subtle hint of the print to the obvious and daring full print, Animal Prints are in this Prom. Check out a few of my favorite, "standard" Animal Print dresses... Continue reading
