  • New Innovative Ceramic Hair Brush Straightens Hair In Seconds

If you have curly or frizzy, thick hair, getting your hair to look how you want can be a nightmare and take way too much time. The process of trying to tame the mane is a long one, starting with blowdrying, and ending with flat ironing your hair in small sections, over and over again. It certainly makes just throwing your hair up into a bun or ponytail seem like the only real option. But, always having your hair up in a ponytail holder isn't good for your locks!

Fret not, though - a brand new tool is here to make straightening your hair oh-so-easy. The geniuses of DAFNI invented an innovative new hot tool for your hair that's a combination of a brush and straightener! According to its website, DAFNI is a "revolutionary hair straightening brush. Simply brush your hair and it will be straight and smooth in minutes. No-fuss, no clips."

Sounds too good to be true, right? Check out the video below of DAFNI's co-founder Sharon Rabi using the brush (who has incredibly thick, curly hair!) to see the amazingness in action.

It certainly looks like a quick way to get your hair style-perfect in a short amount of time. Just think... more time sleeping before needing to get to school or work! And, more time picking out that perfect outfit and doing your make-up before a night out with the girls or going on a date. It could certainly make a DIY prom, homecoming, or holiday party hairstyle a lot easier! Continue reading

  • Haircut Trends to try for a New You!

The school year is about to begin and the New Year is just around the corner! You are once again reunited with your classmates and getting settled into your new classes. This year, it's your chance to amp up your style and refresh your look. Fashion is constantly changing and usually some back-to-school shopping does the trick. But, if you want to really make a drastic change to your look...try a whole new hairstyle! So many haircuts are on trend right now and we picked out a few of our favorite current ones.

    The Lob - Long Bob

So many celebs have drastically changed their hair for summer of 2014. One of the biggest trends of the year was the infamous long bob. This intermediate cut is not too short but not too lengthy.  The on trend term for the Long Bob is The Lob.  The long bob has a wide range of variations from sexy waves to groovy seventies inspired bangs.  Even Beyonce went from her luscious long locks to this sassy short cut. Everyone is jumping on this hairstyle and can't get enough of it. Who said short hair wasn't sexy? This is great for someone who wants to try something new but not totally extreme.  Sienna Miller and Jennifer Aniston are just two of the many A-List celebs that have opted for the the long bob hairstyle.

    Ombre Highlights

For the past couple of years, ombre highlights have been getting so popular...everybody tried some kind of form of ombre...even ombre dresses! When it comes to your hair, whether it's a subtle one shade lighter ombre or a full on platinum blonde ombre...there's endless possibilities on how extreme you can go. Adding color like pinks and reds to add some edginess to your style is a great way to more drastically change your appearance.  Check out how Ciara and Rachel Bilson rock the ombre hairstyle below.

    Shaved Side Hairstyle

Another trend celebs all over this year have been rocking is the shaved side hairstyle. You've seen it on pop stars like Miley Cyrus...Rihanna...and Cassie. Not many people would go for this look because of the drastic side buzz cut and the maintenance, but if you want a look that will have you standing out from the crowd, then this will definitely do it!

Rihanna's shaved side hairstyleIf you want to try it but don't want to go too extreme, here's a temporary look Kendall Jenner rocked similar to that trend. Short, small braids is a great way to go edgy for just a few days without giving your mom a heart attack!

  • Pixie Parties!

Have you attended a "pixie party" yet? Probably not, since it's not something you necessarily attend; it's more of a movement. Pixie haircuts are taking over our favorite Hollywood hotties and we're loving the fresh and fun hair-do!

Pixie cuts are so prominent that almost every magazine has picked out their favorite starlets that switched from long locks to pixie cuts. We've gathered up our favorites - take a look below!

sev-cos-01-jennifer-lawrence-pixie-lgnJennifer Lawrence - The Roo Crew are HUGE fans of The Hunger Games, so it's no surprise that J. Law topped our pixie list. Rumor has it thst the reason she traded in her long Katniss braid for short blonde hair is due to the damage dying constantly has caused to her locks. Either way, we think she looks gorgeous.

sev-celebs-with-short-hair-shailene-woodley-lgnShailene Woodley - We can't even begin to describe how excited we are for Shailene to star in The Fault in Our Stars - another bestselling book turned movie. She chopped all her hair off to play the role of Hazel Grace, a cancer survivor, and after the big cut she donated her hair to a nonprofit called "Children with Hairloss."

Charlize-Theron-Glamour-7oct13_pa_b_592x888Charlize Theron - We loved Charlize as the Queen in "Snow White and the Hunstman" which is why we're not surprised that she picked a hairstyle suited for royalty.

anne-hathaway_glamour_7may2013_pa_bAnne Hathaway - It is widely known that Anne chopped her long Princess-Diaries locks off for her lead role in Le Miserables. However, what most people don't know is that she is having an extremely hard time with the hair growing back. We're not upset about it because we're totally loving her pixie princess look!

With the New Year almost here, a pixie haircut is definitely a great look to try out for a New You! Just print out a picture of your favorite hairstyle and bring it to your stylist! Which celeb is rocking your favorite pixie cut? Comment below to share!

  • Styling your Hair with your Flat Iron

We all know that we would be lost without our hair straightener right? But, most of us don’t even know all of the cool things you can actually do with your hair straightener if you have the right one.  Us being the Roo Girls that we are, we've done extensive research on cute hairstyles, and having a good hair straightener is definitely part of that!

    Buying a Hair Straightener

    zebra chi

Looking for that perfect straightener for yourself? You can definitely find a lot of information on the internet about which ones to purchase! If you've done your own research on hair straighteners already, you've probably found what we've found, which is that most websites we've searched say that the number one hair straightener is the "Sedu" or "GHD." My personal favorite, as well as the favorite of some others of the Rissy Roo's staff, is the “Chi,” though. They're a little pricey (just like any good straightener), typically selling anywhere from $70.00 to $150.00, but totally worth every penny. They are rated with good quality and I personally have never had a problem with them. Plus, if you can get a super chic one like the zebra CHI above, can you really go wrong?? Whether the Sedu, GHD, or Chi, you'll find yourself with a good, dependable, long-lasting straightener.

Ideas to Try with your Straightener

Looking for some style tips to try out with your straightener? Below are some ideas for you!

Did you know that you can crimp your hair with a flat iron? Wait until you try it, it looks so fabulous! Here’s a how-to from Cosmopolitan Magazine:

“To create a cool crimp like Jennifer Hudson’s, starting with straight locks, grab a one-inch section of hair and position your flat iron at the root. Begin twisting your wrist back and forth, slowly, as you glide the iron all the way down to your ends. Repeat until all strands have been tended to.”

You can also make those sexy girl waves, which is also pretty easy to do with your flat iron. Here’s how Cosmopolitan says to get the look:

"Score sexy, undone curls, like Kate Hudson’s by starting with the flat iron near your scalp. Wrap a one-inch section around the flat iron plates as you simultaneously turn the flat iron away from your head (similar to how you would curl a ribbon with a scissor). Continue pulling the iron down the section of hair until you reach the ends. Repeat until your entire head is curled and voilà!"

Most importantly for us girls who when their hair is dry from the shower it gets wavy and frizzy (like me), a flat iron can be your best friend! When straightening your hair, all you have to do is simply run small strands of your hair through the iron and your hair turns out nice and straight, shiny flat and sexy!

  • Cap-Friendly Graduation Hairstyles!

Graduation is coming soon and you already got your outfit and of course your cap and gown. There's only a few finishing touches you have to make before your big day. You're most likely going to be wearing the cap all day...outdoors...taking pictures...during the ceremony...and then even more pictures after. To avoid the dreadful hat hair, plan your hairstyle ahead of time. We pinned some awesome hairstyle suggestions that are cap-friendly to our "Prom Hairstyles" Pinterest board (because they're perfect for prom, too!) that you can check out, with our favorites below. They're simple hairstyles than anyone can do on their own and that are also sure to last you all day. Check them out below!

    Natural Waves

If the actual event is indoors,  then you have many options. If you're thinking of letting your hair down, give your hair some body and waves like the examples below. If you're worried about the cap not being able to stay on your head, make sure you bring extra bobby pins to secure the cap in place. Your hair blown out for an outdoor ceremony wouldn't be able to handle the humidity. Natural waves are your best friend. Using hot tools or just hair product can get you that look!

    Braid it up!

When it comes to avoiding hat hair, braids are ideal. Whether you go with the milkmaid style...french...fishtail...or side braid, your hair will stay put all day. Take pictures without worries! Don't know how to braid? Easy! There's plenty of YouTube videos demonstrating how to braid the perfect fishtail..french...you name it you'll find it!

Here's one YouTube how-to that we love:

    Half Up-do

For a sleeker look, a half up half down style is another perfect do for graduation. The best part is that it's super simple. You just pull the top section of your hair into a small ponytail and secure it with a hairband or bobby pins. You can even style the ends of your hair into wavy locks or soft curls with a little bit of hairspray to keep it from loosing its shape. You'll be camera-ready all day!

However you decide to style your hair for graduation, we're sure you'll look super chic! If you're still looking for your perfect graduation dress, it's definitely not too late, either. So, get your grad look ready and be ready to take lots and lots of photos!

  • How to Find Your Prom Hairstyle

Prom Dress? Check! Shoes? Check! Purse? Check! Your prom outfit isn't quite finished yet, though! Your prom hairstyle is the icing on the cake to finish your perfect prom look, so if you haven't started thinking about what to do with your lovely locks yet, it's time to do so!

Braids are a popular trend this year, and Bella Thorne rocks the look so well!

When it comes to deciding how to do your hair, there are four rules that will lead you down the right path to the perfect look:

    1. Just as we started this post, make sure you choose your dress first. Your hair style should complement your dress, not compete with it! If you have a busy dress, picking a simple hairstyle may be the way to go. Or, if you choose a certain style of dress, you want to make sure that your hair follows that style.
    2. Keep your personality in mind. Your number one priority at prom should be making sure you feel comfortable, and that includes everything from feeling confident in the dress you choose to the hairstyle and make-up you wear. If you're a more casual girl that isn't the biggest fashionista, then going with a more simple hairstyle may be right for you. If you love dressing up from head to toe every day, find the perfect formal up-do to rock all night!
    3. Don't fight your natural hair texture; work with it. If you're going to a hair salon to get your hair done, ask your stylist what would look best with your hair type. If you'll be doing your own hair, there's plenty of sites on the internet with recommendations for what to try for various hair types.
    4. Remember that it's the Information Age; with how the internet is becoming increasingly more social, your prom photos are bound to be around for years to come. Choose a hairstyle that's timeless and won't be embarrassing 30 years from now!
