(July 23rd, 2012):  Last night’s Teen Choice Awards recognized some of the most popular performers from the past year.

New X-Factor judge Demi Lovato, along with Glee’s Kevin McHale (Artie), hosted the event which presented awards to celebs from TV, film, and the music industry.  With over 134 Million votes cast online, the 14^th annual Teen Choice Awards had the most audience participation to date!

Top winners included The Twilight Saga stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, who accepted the “Ultimate Choice Award,” completely amazed that their films have hauled in 41 Teen Choice Awards over the years.  The Hunger Games kept up with their competitors, racking in several awards including choice sci-fi movie actress, villain, actor, book, and movie of the year.  Emma Stone stole audience hearts, winning both comedy and drama actress of the year for her hit films Crazy Stupid Love, and The Help.

Top TV winners included stars from The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars, while the Choice TV Comedy award went to Glee.  Music superstars Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift didn’t leave empty handed either, grabbing three coveted surfboards each.   Carly Rae Jepsen’s catchy “Call Me Maybe” song won for choice song of the summer, and the singer herself was very excited to have also won the breakout artists of the year award.

(July 19^th 2012): This morning nominees for the 2012 Emmy awards were announced to the public.  Top shows included FX’s American Horror Story and AMC’s Mad Men, leading with 17 nominations each.  Modern Family, winner of the Best Comedy Series category for the past two years, came in with 14 nominations this year.  Other breakthrough comedy shows have made impressions as well, including the female driven shows Girls, Veep, and Zoey Deshanel’s New Girl.

When it comes to costume design, Emmy nominees this year have reached new heights.  Spectacular fashions and incredibly realistic period outfits have made TV shows this year stand out.  Competition in the Outstanding Costume Design for a Series category is going to be tight!  The primetime dramas nominated have all been keen to develop specific costumes for their characters, which not only embody personality, but also represent historical accuracy and fictional continuity.

Do you need to squeeze into a certain dress size in a short amount of time?  Losing weight can be a big challenge if you don’t start by making a plan.  Jumping right into a restrictive diet and intense exercise workout won’t work to change your size immediately.  The best way to drop some pounds is to commit to making small changes in your life daily.

Last month iVillage compiled 30 ways to drop a dress size in 30 days, including tips on what to eat, how to exercise, and what you’ll need to do to stay on track.  By following at least 10 of their recommendations you can lose about 10 pounds in a month, without hurting yourself!  Here are some of the key points you should pay attention to if you want to drop a dress size this month:

1. Eat probiotic rich foods like Greek Yogurt, filled with live cultures, a healthy bacterium that helps burn calories.
2. Get 7-9 hours of sleep each night.  Good quality sleep will leave your body well rested, increasing your metabolism for the coming day.
3. Instead of grabbing a glass of OJ, eat a full orange instead.  By eating fruit instead of fruit juice you avoid consuming unnecessary added sugars.
4. Pack your lunch each day to avoid splurging on unhealthy foods that are easy to eat quickly during the workday.  Try bringing a sandwich and some healthy snacks like an apple or carrot sticks.
5. Drink 8-10 cups of water throughout each day to clean out your system and maintain good metabolism.
6. Get active by scheduling and maintaining at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.  Take a bike ride of go for a jog, just keep it consistent and you’ll feel the results.
7. Add spicy foods to your diet – some research shows spices like peppers help your body to fight fat.
8. Don’t freak out if you cheat a little!  Indulging accidentally doesn’t mean you’ve failed your mission, just make sure you get back on track after.
9. Start some meals with a broth based soup instead of a hearty appetizer.  Soup will fill you up faster so you won’t over eat during a meal.
10. Add protein to every meal.  Eggs, nuts, seeds, legumes, fish or other lean meats will give you more energy and curb hunger between mealtimes.

We all love watching Ryan play the romantic heartthrob in movies like The Notebook and Crazy Stupid Love, and friends say he’s just as dreamy in the real world too.  If Gosling went to your school dance, he’d be sure to dress his best, as usual.  He knows how to work the red carpet at movie premieres and award shows, so he’d definitely know how to work the camera in your Prom photos.

Channing Tatum

If you want a Prom date that knows his way around the dance floor, than you’d probably want to pick Channing Tatum.  This multi-talented performer knows how to rock it with all the moves he learned from starring in Step Up.  The only question:  would you rather he dressed dapper in one of his swanky suits, or just keep it “simple” with his Magic Mike tie?

Andrew Garfield

Your Spidey Senses will be tingling linking arms with Spiderman star Andrew Garfield.  Although currently dating the lovely Emma Stone, I’m sure she won’t mind if her cute boy hangs out with you for a few hours.  Garfield would wear the best suit to your Prom, or maybe he’d just swing in dressed as a superhero.

Taylor Lautner

It seems crazy that Bella would pick Edward as a Prom date when Taylor Lautner was so irresistible as Jaocb Black in Twilight.  This actor might be the most skilled at ripping off his clothes while transforming into a giant wolf, but I’m sure he’d be able to keep a fancy suit on for one night.

John Mayer

If you’re looking for a date who will serenade you all night, than Mr. Mayer might be your choice.  He has a voice that will make your heart melt, so let him bring that guitar of his into the limo.  Show him a great night at Prom and maybe his next song will be in your honor.
