    Homecoming 2012 hi-lo Dresses

Since the end of last year, hi-low dresses have been trending worldwide.  These flirtatious frocks feature a circular hemline that hangs low in the back and high (usually above knee level) in the front.  Since this style allows your legs some freedom, it’s perfect for a day strolling around town or a night on the dance floor.

Hi-lo dresses have become a popular summer trend for casual wear and have been spotted on celebs walking the red carpet at formal events.  The hi-lo skirt is so versatile it seems wearable for any occasion.  A simple hi-lo dress with a belt can be worn with sandals and a floppy beach hat for a glamorous summer look, while a frivolous version with a bit more flair can be paired with sexy stilettos for any formal event.

If you’re a fan of the hi-lo dress trend, there’s no doubt you’ll need the best style this Fall.  In order to rock this look for Homecoming 2012, make sure you find the perfect fit for you.  If you want to show off a lot of leg, aim for a hi-low dress with a ruffled skirt, which will act like an elaborate frame as you strut your stuff.  Going for a simpler, more classic look?  Check out an A-Line hi-lo dress that hangs delicately from your body.

Selena Gomez Hi-lo dress Selena wore gold heels to accent her blue and green hi-lo dress.

When it comes to accessorizing your hi-lo dress for Homecoming it’s all about the shoes.  The raised hem at the front of dress means your shoes will definitely get noticed.  Make sure you pick a pair of high heels that fits you well and goes well with your dress.  Try to match the color of your hi-lo dress or find something complimentary.  Silver, black, or gold styles are usually a great choice, depending on the color of your gown.

This Homecoming season hi-lo dresses will become the most sought after dresses.  It's always tough picking out a Homecoming dress, having to choose between Prom Styles and less formal cocktail dresses.  With a hi-lo dress, you get the best of both worlds, in a style that's formal and fun.  The unique trend is hard to find though, so if you’re looking for a hi-lo dress that will turn heads at Homecoming 2012, you’d better start looking now!

  • Trend Setter - Picking the Perfect Handbag

Every woman knows that accessorizing with a certain handbag can make or break an outfit.  While certain bags are always in fashion, different occasions call for different purses.  One of the biggest fashion faux-pas is picking out a bag without considering what you’ll be using it for and if it will look good with your body type.

The first question you need to ask yourself is “When will I be using this handbag?”  If you can’t think of a certain occasion, or time of day when you’ll be using it, then chances are it will wind up collecting dust at the bottom of your closet.  Buying a new bag is a legitimate commitment, so you shouldn’t put in the funds unless you are completely sure you will get some use out of it.

When it comes to picking a handbag for a certain event, the basic rule is to save the bigger bag for daytime and stick to smaller, clutch-sized bags at night.  Smaller bags won’t get in your way during a social night with friends, and are easy to keep close to you in a crowded bar or club.  A small clutch would be perfect for a night out to dinner, while a small purse with long straps would be great for strolling on the boardwalk.

  • How to Get Olympic Fit – Nutrition is Key

The Huffington Post recently interviewed Abby Wambach of the US National Soccer Team to find out what it takes to get into shape like an Olympic athlete.  She discussed just how dedicated Olympic athletes must be to a specific workout and diet regiment in order to maintain their physical fitness.

“As professional soccer players, we take our bodies to the extreme. We're the people at the gym that look like we're breaking the machines. Pushing our bodies to the limits is what makes us so strong and capable and Olympians. It's not an easy thing to consistently do over and over again to your body.” (Huffington Post)

Wambach says a well balanced nutrition is key to getting in shape.  Eating well isn’t just something an athlete does during their sport season, but something that becomes a regular part of their lifestyle.  If you’re looking to lose weight or eat healthier than you really need to stay dedicated to a specific diet.  Occasional indulgences won’t hurt you, but staying on the wagon and making healthy foods a regular part of your day will help your body overtime.

Here are some tips we compiled on how to eat like an Olympian:

    1. Drink lots of water!  Turkish female wrestler Elif Jale Yesilirmak says that she drinks up to 4 liters of water each day (that’s about 1 gallon of water).
    2. Snack on something healthy, like edamame beans, a favorite of soccer player Carli Lloyd.
    3. Have a hearty breakfast.  A typical breakfast for runner Ashton Eaton includes a heap of eggs, turkey bacon, toast, and Greek yogurt sprinkled with muesli.
    4. Stick to lean meats.  Gymnist Jonathan Horton says that for dinner he usually has a lean meat main course like salmon or chicken.
    5. Stock up on protein.  Table Tennis Olympian Michael Landers says you have to keep your protein up to make it through a workout.  Try eating more nuts, eggs, or fish.

  • Team Olympics Fashion – London 2012 Olympic Uniforms

Starting Friday, sports enthusiasts around the world will be cheering on their favorite Olympic team members, dressed in top-of-the-line clothes made specifically for the games.  Each Olympic year the best designers around the world are requisitioned to create uniforms that represent their countries personality.  By incorporating patriotic colors, and often the national flag, designers are able to make something special for athletes to feel pride while wearing throughout the games.  Some uniforms have hidden symbolism, while others are blatantly flashy.  This year’s London Olympics Uniforms are sure to please fans:

    Australia

    Australia Olympic Uniforms 2012

Australian uniforms for the 2012 Summer Olympics were designed by Sportscraft.  These blazers are lined with the names of gold medalists from throughout History, so that although the athletes have the weight of their nation on their shoulders, they also have the support of their predecessors.   Dunlop Valley Shoes also lined the inside of the white tennis shoes athletes are wearing with past winners names so that team members are literally walking in their footsteps.

    United States

    America US Olympic Uniforms 2012

American Uniforms by Ralph Lauren were controversially made in China this year, fueling the creation of an act to make all future Team USA uniforms within the actual US.  Some argue that the uniforms look like flight attendant outfits, while others approve of the conservative, formality of them.  Team USA will certainly be looking their finest this Friday night!

    Great Britain

Stella McCartney partnered with Adidas to design Great Britain’s Uniforms this year, featuring a reconfigured Union Jack.  As the home team of these summer games, the Brits have got to show off their national pride.

    Germany

    german olympic uniforms 2012

These German parade outfits were designed by Bogner.  Sticking to the age old stereotype of women wearing pink and men in blue, these uniforms don’t particularly convey Germany’s national orange and yellow colors.  They definitely pop though, and will allow fans to easily find this countries team amidst the mass of athletes during Friday’s parade.

    Jamaica

    Jamaican Olympic Uniforms 2012

PUMA Jamaican Olympic team uniforms were designed by Cedella Marley, daughter of the legendary Bob Marley.  These team wears feature Jamaican flag colors in a fashionable light.  The chic, formal uniforms for Friday’s parade are the most stylish of all, and the everyday outfits for specific sporting events are designed to represent the beauty of the country.

  • Celeb Style – Teen Choice Award Winners Strut it on the Purple Carpet

Although they’re not as glitzy as The Oscars, the Teen Choice Awards always bring best dressed celebrities out for a night of fun.  This year’s stars were no exception, strutting their stuff on the purple carpet at last night’s Teen Choice awards.

Selena Gomez celebrated her birthday last night in a pink, Dsquared2 short dress paired with cream Herve Leger heels, while Carly Rae Jepsen’s outfit would leave most calling her definitely!  Glee star Lea Michele looked amazing in her Versace dress with matching heels and we’re telling the truth when we say that Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale really rocked her bright Wes Gordon dress.

Although most critics are still debating whether or not Demi Lovato's Falguni + Shane Peacock dress was a hit or a miss, we give her credit for picking such a unique frock!  Taylor Swift certainly takes the crown though for her breathtaking ensemble, a stunning Maria Lucia Hohan gown with Prada Heels.
