Prom Preview Party 2014 We LOVE PROM!
  • Kylie Erica Mar at the Critics Choice Awards in Mac Duggal

Just a couple of weeks ago we wrote about how stunned we were to see Nia Long at the Critics' Choice Awards in Jovani 77542. Well, she wasn't the only celebrity at the 2014 Critics' Choice Awards wearing one of our favorite dresses designers. Kylie Erica Mar was at the awards show wearing another one of our designers: Mac Duggal!

Kylie Erica Mar Critics Choice Awards Mac Duggal 82019

Kylie wore Mac Duggal style 82019, a stunning gown that's designed to deliver that WOW factor, whether worn on the red carpet or to prom! Sexy illusion cutouts accent the waist with beautiful silver beading and sequins. The jersey prom gown features a plunging neckline and sexy open back, trimmed with more sophisticated beading along the sides. The full skirt carefully fits your body to give you ease of movement and an exciting night.

Kylie wore the dress so perfectly! We loved her choice to keep her hair down and parted to the side - it accented the gown nicely while still showing off the sexy neckline and open back. Her dark cat eyes were a perfect accent to the sleek black lines of the skirt. Keeping her accessories simple with one silver bangle and a silver clutch was also a great choice, allowing the dress to speak for itself.

If you haven't caught Kylie on TV yet, she is the reporter for Made in Hollywood, where she interviews many of Hollywood's biggest starts, including Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Harrison Ford, and many, many more. If there's anyone who knows how to dress like a star on the red carpet, it's definitely her! So, if you want to feel like a celeb at your prom this year, just take a cue from Kylie and this Mac Duggal dress. Do you love her look? Leave us a comment and let us know!

  • Nia Long at the Critics' Choice Awards in Jovani

If you haven't noticed yet from our 2014 People's Choice Awards and Golden Globes posts, Award Season is officially in full swing! The PCAs and GGs are officially over, and we're now onto the 19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, and you better believe the red carpet was full of such gorgeous dresses!

Our favorite look of the night was worn by Best Man Holiday actress Nia Long, who wore one of our favorite dress designers, Jovani, on the 2014 Critics' Choice Awards red carpet. She wore Jovani style 77542, a curve-hugging jersey cutout gown. The age-defying actress looks amazing in just about anything, but this sheer cutout dress looked exceptionally perfect on her! The dress hugged her curves so perfectly, showing off just the right amount of skin with the sheer cutouts and open back.

  • 2014 Golden Globes Red Carpet Looks that you can Wear to Prom!

The 2014 Golden Globe Awards were held this past weekend, and with comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey as the hosts, it couldn't have been any more fun to watch! This was the 71st Annual Golden Globes, which celebrates the best in TV and film over the past year. You can read about all of the winners on the Awards page of the Golden Globes website, but just to list our favorite win of the night: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture - Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle!

Now, to the good stuff: the red carpet fashion, of course! From our favorite winner of the night, Jennifer Lawrence's white gown, to Leslie Mann's lace peplum dress, to Kaley Cuoco's elegant floral gown, there were so many gorgeous looks worn last night. And, with the Prom 2014 Season just around the corner, you better believe that we were looking at these dresses with a keen prom eye! So, with prom specifically in mind, there were two looks that we had Continue reading

  • Bella Thorne Models Sherri Hill 11068!

So many new prom dresses have been coming in for the Prom 2014 season, and one of our newest favorites is Sherri Hill style 11068. We're not loving the look just because it's a perfect way to wear the two-piece trend, though. We also love it because actress Bella Thorne models Sherri Hill 11068, and looks so beautiful doing it! After all, the Bella Thorne Sherri Hill match-up is always one that we love here at Rissy Roo's.

prom dress bella thorne sherri hill 11068Because we love the way that Bella looks in this dress so much, it is our Dress of the Week for this week! This brilliantly designed evening gown from Sherri Hill is a great way to wow the crowd. The beaded high neck sleeveless top will turn heads, finishing the look off with a long slim skirt with a beaded waist. It's a great way to wear the sexy two-piece prom dress look without showing off too much skin. It's also such a classic look that it can be worn to so many different types of formal events, not just prom. Other than prom, we especially love this look for a holiday party or a wedding!

sherri hill 11068 black multi prom dressStyle 11068 isn't the only Sherri Hill dress that we're loving for this coming Prom season, though. The dress designer has come out with so many new stunning styles for Prom 2014 that it's almost impossible to pick a favorite! We always love Sherri Hill dresses, but this season's looks seem to be better than ever. From two-piece looks like Bella wore, to pretty floral designs, elegant lace, and soft tulle, there's so many unique and gorgeous looks to choose from. And, of course, Bella isn't the only celebrity wearing the dresses, either - if you haven't heard yet, Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson has her very own line this year called Sadie Robertson Live Original! We hope that you love the Sherri Hill Spring 2014 dresses as much as we do!

  • Three Big Trends in Prom Dresses 2014

Prom is the first big formal event in the lives of many high school girls, so getting dressed up is

    rissy roo 1

a big deal. Having a dress that both suits your personality and stands out in the crowd is usually the goal when choosing a color and style. Like any type of fashion, popular types of prom dresses te

nd to come and go, and 2014 is definitely an interesting year for trends. If you want to star

    Lots and Lots of Floral

t getting ideas for the dress you're going to wear for the big night, here are a few of the themes you can expect to see in stores.

Floral patterns are classic that often get re-created with modern twists, and floral-patterned dresses are definitely something you can expect to see a lot of this year. Whether it's a subtle pattern along the bodice or a top-to-bottom design, it's an interesting way to break up a dress's solid color without using sequins or rhinestones. The great thing about this trend is that floral patterns can take on a vintage or modern aesthetic, so no matter what you typically wear, you can find a way to rock it. This picture has a more muted color scheme, but brightly-colored floral patterns will definitely be seen on the market.

    Pastels

Though any color dress can be made to look chic on the right person with the right accessories, there seem to be certain color palettes that get popular on a yearly basis. This year, pastels are a big hit – blush pinks, sky blues, baby yellows, and lavender, for example, seem to be the choice of many designers. Pastel-colored dresses make for a delicate, feminine aesthetic that is easily complemented by light jewelry and natural hair. Wearing one of these shades is an easy way to look effortlessly elegant on the biggest night of the year.

    Short Dresses

rissy roo 3Traditionally, girls always opt for floor-length gowns for prom night. When looking at lines of prom dresses for 2014, though, it seems that short styles are just as popular as long cuts. Shorter dresses are perfect for girls who want to look cute and flirty or even retro, and as an added bonus, you get to show off your shoes! No more hiding your kicks behind the drape of a gown. Some girls prefer these dresses because they're easier to dance in, and others just like to show off their legs. Don't have any hang-ups about whether or not a short dress is formal enough; you can jazz up a dress of any length with the right jewelry.

So, what do you think? Are you going to wear any of these trends to prom this year?

  • Jacquie Lee Wearing Sherri Hill on The Voice

We're so happy that this week Jacquie Lee made it to the Final 3 on The Voice, but we're still stuck on her performance from last week! Last Monday, Jacquie was one of the Top 6 to perform on The Voice, where she blew the crowd away singing "Cry Baby" by Janis Joplin and "The Voice Within," which was dedicated to her coach, Christina Aguilera.

Her beautiful singing voice wasn't the only reason we were blown away by Jacquie, though. The dresses she wore were just so beautiful! Not only that, but you can wear them, too, because they were by dress designer Sherri Hill! Check out what she wore below - they're perfect looks for an upcoming Holiday party or for Prom.

Jacquie Lee in Sherri Hill 11068 The two-piece gown that she wore while singing "Cry Baby" is Sherri Hill style 11068, one of designer's newest looks for Prom 2014! It's a brilliantly designed evening gown with a beaded high neck sleeveless top and a long slim skirt with a beaded waist. The top and skirt sit at just the right place around your waist to give a figure-flattering look. And, it's definitely an elegant way to wear the hot crop top look for a formal event, showing just the right amount of skin. Best yet, it's a style that can be worn to a number of different events, whether a formal holiday party or prom.

Jacquie Lee in Sherri Hill 4304

Jacquie also belted her heart out singing "The Voice Within" in the elegant cocktail dress Sherri Hill style 4304. It's a beautifully beaded cocktail dress that features an intricately beaded bodice, cap sleeves, and a high neckline. Definitely just as elegant of a look as style 11068, just in a shorter style! It's a perfect look for any holiday formal or semi-formal event, or even Homecoming!

  • Dress like Miley Cyrus in Faviana 6711!

Miley Cyrus Faviana 6711Yup, that's right, Miley Cyrus finally wore an outfit that's perfect for fashionistas everywhere! Rather than wearing those scantily clad outfits Miley has become known for, she showed up at the 30th Annual Night of Stars in a totally stunning sequin gown! Don't get too shocked - she still showed off some skin with the gown's open back, but all in all it was a totally glam AND chic look!

From the sparkly green dress to the red mani, Seventeen Magazine thought it was a perfect look for prom, and they couldn't be more right! Seventeen said:

"A straight but not-too-form-fitting style covered in sequins is seriously flattering, plus, the shape makes all-over sparkle feel less frilly."

The above picture that they made showed how you can get the look. And, what dress did they choose to steal Miley's style? Faviana style 6711, of course! The silver version of this dress was our Dress of the Week back in April because it was so similar to a gown that Taylor Swift wore, but now it's our Dress of the Week to get a Miley Cyrus look-alike style! It's a sequin evening gown with mesh straps and a sexy open back.

When it comes to the makeup, Seventeen said:

"To make green eyeshadow like Miley's wearable, pick a pale seafoam shadow, and stick to black liquid liner and mascara so the look stays glam. Keep the rest of your makeup neutral with a pale peachy blush and a nude lipgloss. Don't forget your bright red nail polish!"

Do you love the look? Leave a comment below and let us know!
