  • Ways to Avoid the Summer Heat and Humidity!

With the summer season in full-effect, the heat is scorching and the humidity is almost unbearable! Whenever us Roo Girls aren't soaking up the sun at the beach or pool, we're definitely looking for ways to stay cool! If you're looking for some great ways to break the heat, here are our favorite ways to avoid that sizzling summer weather:

    mall1

Visit your local mall! The mall is always a great place to cool down and spend some quality time shopping or eating at the food court with your friends! And, of course, finding a cute summer outfit!

    700.hq

Do you know the reason most people went to movie theaters when they were first built? Because they had air conditioning! Air conditioners have always been such an essential part of the movie experience that they were even installed in movie theaters before cup holders were! Movie theaters still make for a great place to cool down in the present day, especially with all of the great blockbuster hits that always come out in the summer time!

    bookstore3

Book stores make a great cooling station. There's nothing more relaxing than finding a good book and reading it in your favorite local book store. Also, most book stores have coffee shops attached to them, making it a breeze for you to grab your favorite frozen drink!

Whether mall, theater, book store, or other activities, there's definitely a lot of cool ways to beat the summer heat. What do you do to stay cool during the summer season? Comment below to share!

  • Perfect 4th of July Nail Ideas!

Independence Day is almost here, and we've been scouring the Internet for ways to show our pride for the day of fireworks, BBQ, and fun! While we've of course been picking out our favorite red, white, and blue dresses at www.rissyroos.com, we've also been looking for cute ways to accessorize. And, of course, one always go-to way to show some 4th of July love is on your nails! It's a simple, yet totally chic, way to wear red, white, and blue, without wearing it from head to toe. Below are our favorite patriotic nail looks that we've found on Pinterest...not only just in time for July 4th, but for #ManicureMonday, too!

    4th of july nail decals

It doesn't get much more patriotic than literally turning your nails into the American Flag! If you're freaking out over the idea of trying to paint those perfect stars and stripes onto your nails, don't fret; just use nail art decals to get the look! They're simple to use and give you a professional look. You can get the decals used in the above photo for only $5 on Esty.com!

    firework fingertips

Sparkly nails have been super on-trend lately, and is there really a better time to wear sparkles than on July 4th? Definitely not! That's why we love this "firework fingertips" nail art idea from PrettyPrudent.com. It's a perfect way to incorporate the sparkly nail trend into a 4th of July look!

    nautical nail art

It has a nautical theme to it, but the combination of colors also makes it perfect for Independence Day! We love the small heart over the stripes, but feel free to rock this look without the heart, too.

  • Dress of the Week: Sherri Hill 21187

There were so many beautiful Sherri Hill dresses worn during this year's Miss USA pageant, that we couldn't possibly fit them all into one (or two!) posts. Sherri Hill style 21187 was one dress that we loved, but didn't mention in our Miss USA 2013 posts earlier this week. So, we decided to give it a special shout-out and make it our Dress of the Week!

    Miss Nebraska Sherri Hill 21187

Miss Nebraska wore this sexy red lace dress during the pageant, and she looked absolutely breathtaking! It hugged her curves so well, and the nude coloring made her tan skin glow even more. We also loved the statement necklace she wore with the dress - it complimented the lace in the dress so well and gave her such an elegant look!

Sherri Hill 21187 red lace dress

Sherri Hill style 21187 is a glamorous short cocktail dress complete with classy and chic lace design and scalloped hem. It's such a pretty minidress for graduation, homecoming, a semi-formal party, or just a fun night out! It comes in a variety of colors, such as black, blue, ivory, navy, and blush. We love how the variety of colors this dress comes in lets you dress it up with a more formal color like black, or even give it a more summery look by choosing the ivory or light blue color. It definitely makes it an easy dress to wear to so many different social occasions...or maybe even on stage at a pageant like Miss Nebraska!

  • Summer Appropriate Ways to Wear Sequins

Sequins are always the go-to look for the holidays and often get put on the back burner once summer rolls around. But, with summer being the brightest time of year, is there really a better time to be wearing sparkles?? We don't think so! So, with the warm weather finally on its way, we're here to help show you how to bring sequins into your summer outfits for a whole new, unique look.

When it comes to sequins in the summertime, we recommend to keep it simple and specific to only one item within your outfit. So, if you're wearing a sequin dress, make sure your accessories don't have sequins. Or, if you accessorize with a sequin purse or shoes, keep your clothes summer casual. This is a great way to wear the trend during the summer months without going overboard. Check out our favorite ways to stylize sparkles for the summer below!

    Blush 9667

One of our favorite way to wear sequins in the summer time is with white! White is undoubtedly the go-to summer color, so it will give the sequins a super on-trend look for the season. Our favorite cocktail dress to get the look is Blush style 9667. Shiny white-gold paisleys rock in a flared skirt with a corset back in this gorgeous short dress. With the paisley white detailing, it's the perfect chic way to rock sequins in the summer.

    La Regale 21016 sequin clutch

Carrying a sequin clutch with a bright summery outfit is a great way to add a touch of glam to your look. La Regale style 21016 is a sparkly clutch that can compliment a number of different looks, from daytime to nighttime.

    La Femme 18710

If you have a formal event to attend this summer and are looking for a gown, we recommend choosing one where sequins are more understated. Depending on the event, choosing a completely sequined gown may be too holiday reminiscent for the summer.  One sequined gown that we love for the summertime is La Femme style 18710. It's an empire waist chiffon gown with a criss-cross sequined patterned sweetheart neckline and small diamond shaped open back. The sequined bodice adds the perfect amount of sparkle, while the flowy chiffon fabric is perfect for summertime.

However you decide to wear sequins in the summertime, you'll sparkle as much as the sun. Most importantly, you'll show everyone that whether winter or summer, sequins are always a way to look on-trend.

  • Perfect ways to wear Neon Nails!

Last week, we posted an article about perfect neon dresses for prom. With the warmer weather here, a lot of us girls here at Rissy Roo's have been rocking neon nails this week - we just can't get neon off of our minds! So, with all the different nail ideas we've been sharing with each other this week, we wanted to share some of our favorites with you.

Neon nails are especially perfect for those who love the neon trend, but are hesitant to wear it on bigger clothing pieces, such as your prom dress, shirt, or pants. Painting your nails a bright color lets you have some fun with the look without feeling like it's taking over your outfit.

When it comes to wearing neon nails to prom, just make sure that your dress is a neutral color. If you wear neon nails with a neon dress, you'll start to look like a highlighter. For wearing neon nails every day, don't be afraid to try something fun and funky. Remember, neon is meant to stand out, and if you don't like it one week, you can always change it the next. Below are some of our favorite neon nail looks that we found on Pinterest. They offer great inspiration for every day looks, as well as perfect ideas to wear at special occasions, like prom! So, check out some of our favorite ways to wear neon nails below and get painting!

    neon green nails

You can never go wrong with choosing one single bold, bright nail polish color to wear! To let your nails do the talkin' we especially love neon green (like shown above), neon orange, and neon yellow.

    nude and neon

Pairing neon and nude together is such a great way to tone down how bright neon can be, while still rocking the look. We especially love the style above because of how the neon was used as an accent to make a triangular shape. Geometric shapes are so in right now, so this is a beyond trendy look to rock on your nails! This is a perfect idea to take to your nail salon and have them paint on for you for prom. Having the accenting color piece match your dress color will really complete your look!

    neon polka dots

We just thought this look was too cute! We love the sparkly metallic paired with neon - they work so perfectly together! And, who doesn't love polka dots??

Do you love the idea of wearing neon on your nails? Leave us a comment below and let us know!
