Summer

Since the seasons are changing, it has been quite the challenge to find the "perfect" look these days. Earlier this week, we talked about spring casual outfits, but there's one great spring look that we didn't mention: blazers! Until the weather is adequate for the more revealing summer wear, which we have been craving all winter, we find blazers are the perfect fashion piece to make any outfit look super trendy and complete! Plus, the look as been all over the runways.

Although prints are very "in" for the Spring/Summer 2014  season, a very minimalistic approach was taken by designers when it comes to blazers. As you can see above, a pastel blazer can be worn with shorts, a skirt, pants, or even a romper, and still look fabulous for day-to-day wear. A huge bonus by adding a blazer is you can still look great without a tremendous amount of trying or over doing-it by getting too dressed up. It will always have you looking both classic AND classy. The blazer is also the perfect piece of clothing to throw on after work for an event or special dinner!

As you can see, this light jacket can be paired with any type of outfit and it doesn't have to be plain. From striped to polka dots, everything works for Spring 2014! If you want to wear pants, shorts or a skirt, a blazer if the perfect complement, and is the easiest way to dress an outfit up or down. If it's colder out on the night of your prom, you could even throw a blazer on over your prom dress for a cute extra layer! It's always fun to dress a blazer up with a less "business-y" look like a prom dress, as it makes for stand-out contrasts. How are you wearing your blazer this spring? Labor Day Weekend is upon us, and the official first day of Fall may be only a month away, but it's still Summer and we have a lot more sun to still take in! Plus, with how popular the white trend has been, Labor Day definitely won't be the last day you can rock the color for this year! Have a breakfast party! Invite a group of your friends over and experiment with new breakfast recipes. This is a perfect way to bring people together and brainstorm other activities that may interest the group. Perhaps a morning bike ride or walk?

Watch an entire series (of your choice) on Netlflix (we recommend Pretty Little Liars, if you're looking for some ideas)! Make yourself some microwaveable popcorn, pick up some ice cream and call it a day! You could also invite some friends over to have a "Netflix day," once a week, to ensure you finish out each season.

If you're heading off to college this year, you can search for some great dorm DIY's! College is very expensive, so something as simple as what's pictured above would cost about $10.00 and look adorable hanging on your dorm wall. All you need is crayons, glue, a blow dryer and a canvas board. First glue the crayons to the board in any order you prefer then simply hold the blow dryer over the crayons until they start to melt. This simple project allows lots of room for you to add your own flavor and spice it up! If you still have a few more years until college,  this would be perfect for an "Art's and Crafts Day" with a group of your friends.

We recently made a blog post about ways to avoid the summer heat and humidity and one of the ways included going to the movies! A movie date with friends, family or a significant other is definitely exciting and something to look forward to! If you're stuck on what you should see, here are some summer blockbusters that you need to check off your movie list!

Number one on our list is definitely The Great Gatsby! The Great Gatsby premiered on May 10, 2013. It's a very modern translation of the classic literature book from the Flapper Era, however, it still represents the "Classic" feel that is portrayed in the book. Definitely a must-see, especially if you love fashion! No matter how old you are, you are never too old to see a Pixar movie! Ever since Monsters Inc. first came out, everyone has been anxiously waiting for a sequel (or in this case a prequel)! Thankfully, on June 21, 2013 Monsters University premiered. It's a great family movie and it will keep you laughing the whole way through!

Grown Ups was a HUGE success in 2010, therefore, it's no surprise that they made a sequel to the movie! Grown Ups 2 premiered on July 12, 2013. This movie is full of laughs and great actors. I mean, how could it not be funny? Adam Sandler is in it! He is one of the funniest actors and he also produced the movie! If you're a fan of comedy I would definitely suggest seeing Grown Ups 2!

Who isn't a fan of magic? I know I am! Now You See Me premiered on May 31, 2013 and it focuses on four magicians who pull off some pretty extreme magic tricks, like robbing a bank. This movie will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat, and it has a very unexpected ending. But, then again, when it comes to magicians you should expect the unexpected, right?

Lastly, One Direction: This Is Us, has many many people (especially their girl fandom) looking forward to seeing what concert life is like for the boy band. Following in the footsteps of Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and other artists, the movie will be revolving around their life on tour. It should definitely be interesting and very insightful! The movie premiers on August 30, 2013 and we're definitely looking forward to it.
