  • Teen Sisters Invent Lux Makeup Brand Nudestix!

With natural looking and time-saving makeup trends on the rise, there is no surprise a new ultra luxurious makeup brand that combines both would have hit shelves in sleek, black tins of heaven soon enough. However, it is a little surprising this insanely awesome concept was designed and launched by two teenage sisters! Yes, that's correct, 15 and 17 year-old Ally and Taylor Frankel are the young, fresh faces and minds behind Nudestix. Nudestix is a new collection of creamy crayons that are easy to apply, blend and are almost like a lipstick, eyeliner, blush and shadow all in one. Perfectly portable in a tin with a mirror and a sharpener, for about $24, you are "selfie" sufficient with this brilliant brand!

Teen Sisters Invent Lux Makeup Brand Nudestix! How did teen sisters invent lux makeup brand Nudestix? Ally and Taylor have the genetic makeup for makeup, if you will. Their mother is Jenny Frankel, a successful beauty executive for over 20 years who took some time off from work to spend more time with her girls. Mom started noticing the nontraditional approach her girls used when applying makeup and started asking some questions. Her curiosity and past experience, along with the girls' passion to create something in their words where "crayola meets Chanel," inspired something huge! Together they came up with the user-friendly collection that is  also easy on the wallet. Although each crayon is around $24, each one can be used for multiple things. The girls especially love the highlighters because they can also be used as liners or for contouring. They have the perfect amount of gold according to which color you choose!

Teen Sisters Invent Lux Makeup Brand Nudestix! These girls are definitely revolutionizing the way we think about and use makeup. From using multiple brushes and wearing layers of concealers and powders to swiping a crayon, smudging some lines, and maybe adding some mascara, they are encouraging natural, fresh faces everywhere. Young models now are baring their natural skin and using makeup to enhance their features, not cover them up. Ally and Taylor set out to do the same and we think they have the right idea! You can purchase Nudestix at Space NK.

What do you think of these savvy teen entrepreneurs? Have you tried the product? We would love your feedback!

  • Makeup Monday: Brazil Beauty Trends!

It's time for Makeup Monday Brazil Beauty Trends! With Brazil as the official host of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the gorgeous country has been an inspiration for fashion and beauty trends all over the world. Full of bronzed beauties and bright colors, it is no wonder this season's best makeup and beauty trends are bold, vivid hues and beach worthy looks! Here are few of our favorites to turn you into a Brazilian bombshell before you know it!

    Neon Nails

It is always fun to rock a neon manicure, but it's not always appropriate. Sometimes neon polishes can be too aggressive, which is why you need to choose wisely. However, OPI recently launched a 12 color collection inspired by the Brazil fever with bold polishes that aren't too over powering. We love the bright yellow, subtle not so neon "I Just Can't Cope-acabana."

    Vibrant Timesavers

Summer is supposed to be about effortless beauty so we spend more time on the beach and less time getting ready to dance the night away...or at least that is the energy we get from Brasil! We love easy makeup products like The Santigolden Age Double-Ended Limitless Liner by Smashbox. It has two ends with two color options, and the creamy pencil is not only super easy to apply, but lasts 8 hours! Amazing!

    Go Bronze

Although all of us wish we could spend everyday at the beach, sometimes it isn't that realistic, or healthy for the matter. While catching some rays in moderation has great health benefits, it can be difficult to get that dark bronze glow without overdoing it. Have no fear ladies, because amazing self-tanners are here to save the day! Our hand down, all time favorite at Rissy Roo's is the Self Tan Lux Oil by St. Tropez. Good news: it keeps your skin super soft with an awesome bronze glow that lasts and looks like you put in some serious hours in the sand. Bad news: it's kind of pricey, about $50 for a 3.38 oz bottle. However, you do not need to apply much and it will save your skin from harsh UV rays and wrinkles down the line!

Even though these trends are Brazil inspired, we want to see how our Roo Girls wear them! Have any Brazil beauty tips you tried or want to share?

  • Makeup Monday: Au Natural Illuminated Beauty

The Spring and Summer 2014 beauty spectrum is taking us from the very bold to the very natural. This new trend or "non-trend" of natural beauty has models, celebs, and street trend setters walking about with "barely there" natural painted faces. They are still wearing makeup, but this time it is only to conceal certain flaws, give extra definition to specific features, and bronze skin to give it a fresh, dewy glow!

Chloe Model With a Natural Healthy Glow Chloe Model With a Natural Healthy Glow

The Chloe model above is shown wearing MAC cosmetics and only has on the minimal. Makeup artists only used a sculpting cream to highlight her brow and cheekbones and a cream color base in bronze to give her face some little hints of color. Wow! She looks gorgeous! Perfect for a day at the beach in one of our rompers!

Very Natural Emilio Pucci Model Very Natural Emilio Pucci Model

"A strong girl who is naturally beautiful and doesn't need make-up," Lisa Butler said of the inspiration for the makeup of Emilio Pucci. We couldn't agree more with this philosophy. We think this beauty trend is empowering for all young women everywhere to finally embrace their own natural beauty and use makeup to accent their features instead of hiding them. The model above is only wearing MAC's face and body foundation in a shade slightly darker than her own to provide more glow, and natural shadows across the lid. The best part of this trend is not doing your hair! Use a dab of oil for frizzy strands or apply volumizing cream at the scalp and toss hair softly for beach like waves!

  • Makeup Monday: Cat Eye Makeup Puurrfection!

The "cat-eye" or winged eyeliner trend is one that seems to come and go, but for Spring/Summer 2014, it is a trend that is staying with us on the long beach days way into the warm summer evenings. From the runways to the streets, girls everywhere are busting out the bold black eyeliner and lining their lids with wide winged cat-eyes for a feminine, yet seductive makeup look.

Cat Eyes on Runway Model Cat Eyes on Runway Model

This is a look that many girls struggle to create, but it's easier than you think! You can create this look using a liquid or pencil liner, but for a beginner we find that pencils are easier to work with. However, a liquid will give you better results as long as it is done correctly. And, a little hint from the experts: most makeup artists say to use a cotton swab dipped in some makeup remover to perfect the winged tip on the edge of the eyelid. For a no fail solution, we love Tarte's brand new easy to use "Light, Camera, Lashes" Precision Longwear Liner. It is so easy to use and will have you looking like a star in seconds for about $20!

Lights, Camera, Lashes, by TarteIf you are still having doubts about how to perfect this makeup trend, try going to a makeup counter or a savvy friend and have them teach you their tricks of the trade. Or, check out the awesome DIY video below if you're at home and want to try on your own! Don't be shy, give the glamorous cat-eye trend a try for prom, or any other day, and we know you will be the center of attention!

  • Makeup Monday: the Must Have Orange Trend for Spring 2014

From the runways of Paris to the streets of New York City, there is a fabulously bold makeup trend that is written (painted) on every girls face! Although soft pinks and ethereal silvers are also big for Spring/Summer 2014, it seems like shades of orange and coral are all the rage. This orange craze isn't just the new classic red lip either, as it has become a beauty staple on eyes and cheeks, too!

Orange Makeup Runway ModelThis popping hue is so versatile and fun, it can be worn from morning to-night! Many girls have the misconception that these orange and coral shades can only be worn with certain skin tones, but the truth of the matter is they can be put on every face as long as the proper color is chosen and applied correctly. We recommend girls with warmer skin tones try something bright, perhaps with more tangerine notes. If you have cooler skin, try for something more bold and on the stronger coral/red side. Also, if choosing a matte orange lipstick, avoid adding anything extra like gloss and liner. Let the lips do all the talking!

When adding this shade to cheeks and eyes, it will give a bright hint of sunshine. If you are tan it will give you the right amount of glow, while if you are more fair-skinned, it will give cheeks and eyes a beautiful, unique pop.

Orange Eye MakeupJust remember when using these shades to try not to over-do it. Allow your face's natural beauty to add to the color, not the other way around. Try this trend for prom or any special occasion (Graduation, perhaps?) and I am sure everyone will be amazed how awesome you look!

  • Valentine's Day Ideas to show your LOVE!

You could do such simple touches to your make-up, hair and nails to prove that you're loving and looking forward to Valentine's Day!

    Valentine's Day eye makeup

We found this "Valentine's Day Smokey Eye" on Pinterest and we are obsessing over it! How feminine and fun! You could rock a pair of jeans and white t-shirt and still look Valentine-ready with this eye look! It's also super simple to do and you could alter the colors to suit your style.

valentine's day manicureWhat better way to prep for Valentine's Day than to get a mani? We are loving this black, white and red combo! And who could deny those adorable polka dots? This nail art is a subtle, yet adorable, way to show that you're looking forward to this year's Valentine's Day.

    Carrie Underwood pink hair streaks

Lastly, hair chalk! This trend is all that everyone is talking about and we don't blame them because it's trendy and very unique. Color the bottom of your hair with some pink and red hair chalk to accomplish a chic Valentine's Day look. Carrie Underwood has already got a head start!

  • Catch Fire with Precious Formals & CoverGirl!

We are so excited for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiere on November 22nd, that not only are we re-reading the novel, we're also finding ways to celebrate the release! Two of our favorite names in the fashion world, CoverGirl and Precious Formals, have been all about the Hunger Games. CoverGirl recently released a new makeup collection, called the Capitol Collection, in honor of the second Hunger Games movie. They've created signature looks for each of Panem's 12 Districts, from Luxury to Mining (and everything in between). Best yet, dress designer Precious Formals loved this idea so much that they recently showed how you can perfectly pair CoverGirl's district inspired makeups with their dresses for a complete look. Read on and pick a district to represent at your Prom or during the Holidays!

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 1 Makeup

This makeup was created by CoverGirl for District 1. Precious Formals recommends pairing the makeup with Style L46736, a mermaid evening gown that has shimmery golden lining that peaks through the gaps of the gown's lace-and-sequins overlay.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 2 makeup

The makeup in the above picture was created by CoverGirl for District 2. Precious Formals style L9034 is the perfect dress choice for this district's representation of Masonry. Silver groups of sequins accent the body, scoop neckline, and sheer long sleeves of this chic and flirty dress.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 3 Makeup

District 3 represents Technology, and CoverGirl's District 3 makeup and Precious Formals style P46728 are the perfect pair for this district. Multi-hued sequins create intricate Aztec tribal prints throughout this trendy short dress, with the exception of the neckline's small gemstone embellishments.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 4 makeup

This makeup look was created by CoverGirl for District 4. Precious Formals recommends pairing it with Style P21017, an elegant gown that emits a holographic shimmer and features diamond-adorned halter straps that criss-cross in the back. It's definitely as shiny as a fish!

CoverGirl Hunger games District 5 makeup

The above makeup look was created by CoverGirl for District 5, which represents Power. Radiate beautifully in Precious Formals C10559, a strapless sweetheart mermaid gown encrusted with sequins and shiny stones that comes in a neon yellow and purple.

    CoverGirl HungerGames District 6 makeup

This makeup look was created by CoverGirl for District 6, Transportation. Precious Formals says to pair it with Style W21046, a simple A-line silhouette accented by holographic sequins and purple gemstones.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 7 makeup

CoverGirl's District 7 makeup can be perfectly paired with Precious Formals P46712A for a pretty green and yellow colored look that represents Lumber. It's a gorgeous dress that has asymmetrical waist cutouts and a single sheer sleeve in Ombre chiffon. It definitely gives this A-Line a very tropical appeal!

Hunger Games District 8 CoverGirl makeup

This makeup created by CoverGirl for District 8 can be paired with Precious Formals style L9005 to show off the beautiful colors associated with textiles. A thigh-high slit, scoop back and elongated front keyhole cutout spice up this shimmery high-necked gown.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 9 makeup

CoverGirl's District 9 makeup is simple and natural, with just the right amount of shine. And, that's exactly why Precious Formals style P46772 is the perfect match! The dress' soft gold color stands out in a beautifully elegant way.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 10 makeup

This makeup look was created by CoverGirl for District 10, which represents Livestock. Precious Formals recommends pairing it with Style P10561, a stunning mermaid gown with a corset sheer bodice and sweetheart neckline.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 11 makeup

CoverGirl's District 11 makeup would look beautiful with Precious Formals P9060 to represent Agriculture. Sequins cover this plunging-halter gown until just below the hipline, where the sequined pattern spreads out to reveal a sheer floor-length skirt.

CoverGirl Hunger Games District 12 makeup

Lastly, District 12 is where the protagonist of The Hunger Games, Katniss, is from, and the dark colors with just the right hint of yellow/gold used in CoverGirl's District 12 makeup and Precious Formals style P9037 are a perfect representation of it. The sheer-paneled slits cut diagonally across the bodice and straight down one side of this sexy slitted gown makes Style P9037 particularly unique and reminds us of Katniss' braid!

  • Steal Rita Ora's Style from the EMA Awards!

Who tuned into the EMA Awards this past Sunday, November 10th? We sure did! There's nothing more entertaining than music and dresses, and when the two are put together it ensures a great time!

There were many fashion do's and a few fashion don'ts! According to Perez Hilton, Rita Ora was "Blah in Black" at the 2013 EMA's.

Rita Ora at the 2013 EMAs

Although Rita's dress at this year's award show was deemed "blah" and "boring", her unique and daring dress from last year's EMA awards caught our eye and had us gushing so much that we're still talking about it!

    Rita-Ora-2012-MTV-EMAs

We love a good ball gown. Especially one that's red.. and LACE! Rita looked like a million bucks from head to toe and we're going to show you how to accomplish this lavish look!

    Mac Duggal 61393R

Mac Duggal style 61393R is so similar to the dress Rita Ora is wearing that you shouldn't be surprised if you're accidentally mistaken for the starlet. We adore the way the nude illusion leaves room for the red lace to really pop and catch eyes!

    natural toned lips

Rita decided to go with a red lip, which we think is fabulous, but if you want to tone the look down a bit you could go for a more natural make-up approach as shown in the picture above. Finger Waves are also a MUST! Finger waves and lace give off a very vintage vibe; which is why the two go together perfectly.

    Accessories

Lastly, you can't forget your accessories! Try to keep the bling to a minimum because the dress makes a huge statement on it's own! We chose the Johnathan Kayne Austria - Swarovski Austrian Crystals heels, the Helen's Heart (JB-PD00339) Gold Bracelet and the Helen's Heart (E06245) Gold Crystal Stone Earrings.

With last year's outfit in mind, we're not surprised that Rita landed on the "blah" list this year. Any dress is sub-par compared to this goddess gown!

What do you think of this bold look?
