Spring 2014

  • Makeup Monday: Au Natural Illuminated Beauty

The Spring and Summer 2014 beauty spectrum is taking us from the very bold to the very natural. This new trend or "non-trend" of natural beauty has models, celebs, and street trend setters walking about with "barely there" natural painted faces. They are still wearing makeup, but this time it is only to conceal certain flaws, give extra definition to specific features, and bronze skin to give it a fresh, dewy glow!

The Chloe model above is shown wearing MAC cosmetics and only has on the minimal. Makeup artists only used a sculpting cream to highlight her brow and cheekbones and a cream color base in bronze to give her face some little hints of color. Wow! She looks gorgeous! Perfect for a day at the beach in one of our rompers!

Very Natural Emilio Pucci Model Very Natural Emilio Pucci Model

"A strong girl who is naturally beautiful and doesn't need make-up," Lisa Butler said of the inspiration for the makeup of Emilio Pucci. We couldn't agree more with this philosophy. We think this beauty trend is empowering for all young women everywhere to finally embrace their own natural beauty and use makeup to accent their features instead of hiding them. The model above is only wearing MAC's face and body foundation in a shade slightly darker than her own to provide more glow, and natural shadows across the lid. The best part of this trend is not doing your hair! Use a dab of oil for frizzy strands or apply volumizing cream at the scalp and toss hair softly for beach like waves!

  • Makeup Monday: the Must Have Orange Trend for Spring 2014

From the runways of Paris to the streets of New York City, there is a fabulously bold makeup trend that is written (painted) on every girls face! Although soft pinks and ethereal silvers are also big for Spring/Summer 2014, it seems like shades of orange and coral are all the rage. This orange craze isn't just the new classic red lip either, as it has become a beauty staple on eyes and cheeks, too!

Orange Makeup Runway ModelThis popping hue is so versatile and fun, it can be worn from morning to-night! Many girls have the misconception that these orange and coral shades can only be worn with certain skin tones, but the truth of the matter is they can be put on every face as long as the proper color is chosen and applied correctly. We recommend girls with warmer skin tones try something bright, perhaps with more tangerine notes. If you have cooler skin, try for something more bold and on the stronger coral/red side. Also, if choosing a matte orange lipstick, avoid adding anything extra like gloss and liner. Let the lips do all the talking!

When adding this shade to cheeks and eyes, it will give a bright hint of sunshine. If you are tan it will give you the right amount of glow, while if you are more fair-skinned, it will give cheeks and eyes a beautiful, unique pop.

Orange Eye MakeupJust remember when using these shades to try not to over-do it. Allow your face's natural beauty to add to the color, not the other way around. Try this trend for prom or any special occasion (Graduation, perhaps?) and I am sure everyone will be amazed how awesome you look!

  • Fashion Friday: Blazers for Spring 2014

Since the seasons are changing, it has been quite the challenge to find the "perfect" look these days. Earlier this week, we talked about spring casual outfits, but there's one great spring look that we didn't mention: blazers! Until the weather is adequate for the more revealing summer wear, which we have been craving all winter, we find blazers are the perfect fashion piece to make any outfit look super trendy and complete! Plus, the look as been all over the runways.

Spring BlazersAlthough prints are very "in" for the Spring/Summer 2014  season, a very minimalistic approach was taken by designers when it comes to blazers. As you can see above, a pastel blazer can be worn with shorts, a skirt, pants, or even a romper, and still look fabulous for day-to-day wear. A huge bonus by adding a blazer is you can still look great without a tremendous amount of trying or over doing-it by getting too dressed up. It will always have you looking both classic AND classy. The blazer is also the perfect piece of clothing to throw on after work for an event or special dinner!

Spring 2014 BlazersAs you can see, this light jacket can be paired with any type of outfit and it doesn't have to be plain. From striped to polka dots, everything works for Spring 2014! If you want to wear pants, shorts or a skirt, a blazer if the perfect complement, and is the easiest way to dress an outfit up or down. If it's colder out on the night of your prom, you could even throw a blazer on over your prom dress for a cute extra layer! It's always fun to dress a blazer up with a less "business-y" look like a prom dress, as it makes for stand-out contrasts. How are you wearing your blazer this spring? Let us know, we would love to find out!

  • What To Wear Wednesday: Spring Casual Outfits

Even though we all love the Spring sunshine, flowers, and the days of Summer rapidly approaching, Spring can be a tricky time of year to dress because of its "in between" weather stage. However, for this same reason, this is one of our favorite times to mix it up with unique combinations of clothing and accessories. Due to the warmer weather, you can pair jeans with a crop top, or a dress with a sleek leather jacket. The options are endless, making us obsessed with Spring/Summer 2014 fashion. This week, we are all about Spring casual outfits. Our 'What To Wear Wednesday' is a casual, yet cute outfit that can be worn any day (night) of the week!

    A Fun Romper

    Shail K 3468

Rompers are a great way to get a dress look, while feeling a little more casual in shorts. This trend is so in right now, and it's one that you can easily take from day to night just by adding some accessories (and heels) to dress it up. We especially love the Shail K. 3468 Sleeveless Short Romper -

    A Classic Denim Jacket

    Level 99 "Western" Denim Jacket

A classic denim jacket is a must-have accessory for the Spring, and even the Summer, months. It's a classy way to throw an extra layer on top of any outfit during times when it's a little cooler out.

    The Modern Sunhat

    Modern Sunhat

Sun hats are so fun! They're also perfect for keeping the rays out of your eyes once you're hitting the beach in the Summer.

    Perfect Shades

    Rayban Gold Aviators

Shades are a must, of course. You might as well make sure you look stylish while you keep the sun out of your eyes!

    Ultra Mod Booties

Free Bird by Steven "Rollin" Bootie

The Spring months are your last chance to wear booties before Summer comes and you're in sandals all the time, so live up your last days! We are especially loving the new cutout bootie trend - a great one to try out for Spring.

That's it! The perfect casual spring outfit that is still fun and flirty enough to be worn to a party or lunch, yet casual enough for a shopping trip! Like what you see? Comment below and tell us about your casual Spring day outfit!

  • Fun Spring Break Ideas For Every Budget

Your friends have talked about it for months planning away and setting up airfares and  tours for their awesome spring break getaway to a tropical destination. However, given the astronomical price of the trip, you will not be joining. There is no reason to be bummed out, though - a lot of girls spend spring break at home or on campus for many different reasons. So, for those hanging back, we came up with some ways to fill up your week without emptying your wallet, all while still enjoying your time like you were away on vacation! Read on for some fun and simple Spring Break ideas.

    Spring Break

    Road Trip It

Just because you didn't plan a lavish resort getaway doesn't mean you have to stay in the house all week. Grab a buddy and take a road trip to somewhere you haven't been in a while, possibly even to a family member's or old friend who moved away. This way, you could save cash on a place to stay. The trip will give you a chance to bond with someone, and have a real adventure. Remember to pack a cooler with drinks and snacks so you don't have to spend money on the road.

    Road Trip

    Volunteer

Be a do-gooder! Use your week off to do something to benefit others by volunteering somewhere like a community center, nursing home, or animal shelter. It's a great way to spend your week, and you'll for sure feel like it was time well-spent. For a list of places looking for help, check out www.volunteermatch.org.

    Spend Time Outdoors

Use the good weather to your advantage by getting a new outdoor hobby like bike riding or hiking. Take it to the beach and play volleyball or Frisbee in the sand! Make it an all day event by having a picnic or barbecue with family or friends. Not only is this good for your mind, but good for your body, too!

    Beach Volleyball

    Spring Cleaning

Rainy day? Spend some time inside spring cleaning! Go through your closet and make a pile of clothes you know you are never going to wear again. Then, donate the clothing to charity or bring higher priced items to a consignment shop. You will feel refreshed after you eliminate clutter and have room to buy some new Summer stuff.

    Focus on YOU!

Our last Spring break idea is to make sure to take some hardcore "you time." Be selfish for a few days and focus only on yourself. Catch up on sleep, or dive into a book you have always wanted to read. Learn something new by taking a dance or cooking class. The possibilities are endless!
