  • Valentine's Day Manicure

While finding the perfect Valentine's Day dress is obviously the #1 priority when it comes to this holiday, having a fun V-Day manicure is another great way to celebrate, whether you'll be sitting at home or out for the night. There's always the classic red or pink nails, but we love going a little funky for this holiday! We're especially loving all of the heart nail art that we've been seeing on Pinterest, so we picked out our favorite tutorials for getting the look. Check them out below!

The first two are more simple for those that aren't the best when it comes to applying nail polish, but want to get into the nail art fun. The first takes basic red nail polish and adds a gold heart to one nail. We absolutely love the single, big gold heart - it's so perfect for adding a hint of Valentine's Day to any outfit! You could add the gold heart to both hands, or just one. The second takes the trend of making one nail a different color and adds a little V-Day twist - it's too cute! Like the first, you could add the different color nail & hearts to both hands or just one.

The first one gives a great step-by-step guide right in the photo. If you want more detailed information on how to complete the second look, clicking the photo will take you to Pinterest, where you can find a link to the creator's blog with a step-by-step guide in the description section.

The last nail tutorial takes nail art (and how much Valentine's Day love you want to show off) to the next level. It uses a color blocked look, adding some hearts and dots to each nail. It gives a great step-by-step guide, so if you're not afraid to get a little artistic, try it out!

  • What to Wear to a Sweetheart Dance

Valentine's Day time of course also means it's Sweetheart Dance time! Having trouble figuring out what to wear to your Sweetheart Dance? Since it's an event to celebrate Valentine's Day, we recommend picking a red or pink dress. Purple or white are also great colors to choose if you want to show some Valentine's Day love but don't like the traditional red or pink. If those four hues don't work for you, black is always a staple color that you can wear to any event!

As far as the type of dress goes, choose a strapless/sleeveless cocktail dress. You can either go with the traditional fitted cocktail dress, or choose one that flares out at the waist for a more flowy look. We picked out our favorite Valentine's Day dresses for a Sweetheart Dance below and put them into a cute Polyvore set to give you some ideas on what to wear! You can also click here for more Valentine's Day dresses.

Every woman should obviously choose an outfit that they feel sexy in on this night, but it's also important to find one that you can feel comfortable and confident in. Even if you don't have a hot date, it's still a great night to go out and have some fun with your girlfriends. And, you definitely want to make sure that you'll be making a statement and turning some heads! For this day, don't feel like you need to go all-out with a fancy, sequined outfit like you might wear on New Year's Eve. In general, it's best to go with a simple, classic dress that accentuates your body. It's all about finding a nice balance between fancy and casual for this night out - choosing something that you'd wear to a nice dinner and a movie date is usually a good gauge!

If you want to show some holiday spirit, choose a red or pink dress, but you can always go with a simple Little Black Dress. A purple dress can also be a fun choice for showing off the V-Day colors if you want to avoid going the traditional red and pink route. We picked out our 3 favorite Valentine's Day dresses below (one for each color: red, pink, & black), so you can get some ideas for the big night!

If you want a red dress, we love Sherri Hill style 5002. It's a simple, short cocktail bandage dress that is sure to show off your curves, and it's definitely a dress that you'll find many uses for well after Valentine's Day. It also comes in colors black, navy, and white.

La Femme style 17494 is a perfect choice if you're looking for a pink dress. Amazing and sexy, this short cocktail dress is complete with a V-shaped front and back and has intricate beading all over the bodice. The dress comes in a light pink, blush, color, so you can show some Valentine's Day love without screaming it. It also comes in nude, if you want to forego the traditional V-Day colors altogether!

For a traditional Little Black Dress, Mori Lee style 9200 is perfect for V-Day because of the beautiful lace all over it. This LBD is both classy and sexy at the same time, and can definitely be worn for a bunch of different occasions. It also comes in a nude color, which really shows off the intricate lace detailing on the dress.

  • Accessorize with Tights for the Winter

Since the winter has taken a turn for the ridiculously cold this week here on the East Coast, the talk at Rissy Roo's has been all about wearing winter ready outfits. And, what we mean by that is finding fun tights to wear with our dresses! After all, why should a little snow stop us from rocking cute dresses??

We do realize, though, that there tend to be 2 types of women in the world: those who don't like tights, and those who obsess over tights. Since we can't bear to part with our dresses and skirts during the winter time, you can guess that the staff here at Rissy Roo's are quite obsessed with tights! That's why we've picked out our favorite funky pairs that we found on Pinterest. Tights can be found in so many different styles, colors, and patterns that they really are a great way to bring some personality to any outfit. So, we're hoping that we'll convince those non-tight-wearers out there to give it a go and put those dresses back on!

    Fun Shapes

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we thought these tights with hearts on them were too cute! Find a sexy black or red dress to wear with them, and you'll be ready to show off your V-Day spirit. If hearts aren't your thing, you can find tights with all sorts of fun shapes on them - everything from classic polka dots to funky geometic shapes, so keep a look-out for something that you feel matches your style and don't be afraid to try it out!

    Lace

Since lace is such a hot trend right now, we love the idea of rocking the look in tights, rather than the normal shirt or dress. It gives a fun, new way to wear the look and be on-trend, while showing off your unique style and deviating from the norm a little.

    Winter Inspired

Of course, with it being winter right now, you can't go wrong with winter-inspired tights! Look for ones that mimic a cozy winter sweater. A lot of these tights even come in thicker fabrics that are perfect for staying warm in the cold weather. We especially love the ones with little reindeer on them!

    Ombre

Ombre has been a hot trend on everything from hair to dresses, so it's no surprise that the look as even made it to tights! If you love wearing bold, solid color tights, this is another great way to rock them.

    Floral Print

We love all clothes with floral prints, and we especially love the idea of floral printed stockings matched with a plain, solid color dress. It's a great way to let one accessory do all the talking!

  • Michelle Obama in Red at the Inauguration

Michelle Obama looked absolutely stunning in red on Monday night as her husband was once again inaugurated as the President of the United States of America! The first lady wore a flowy chiffon red gown by Jason Wu. We loved that she wore a warm color in winter - it was making us excited that Spring and Summer are just around the corner! The best part about the dress, though, was that it was so flattering to her arms, the First Lady's most well known feature.

Red in any dress is definitely a great way to stand out, and works well with many different skin tones. And, with Valentine's Day right around the corner, it's definitely the go-to color to look sexy! Whether for Valentine's Day or Prom, there are many different red dresses to choose from. Check out our Red Evening Dresses to find your perfect Michelle Obama inspired prom dress, or peruse our Valentine's Day section to get some ideas if you have a hot date to impress!
