So, we already know that you have a general idea of how you'll do your Valentine's Day makeup look, but the special day is quickly approaching and it's certainly time to put the rest of your outfit together. Whether going on a date with your significant other of a long time, a first date with a new love interest, attending a high school dance, or having a night out with your BFFs, we love Valentine's Day (no pun intended) because it's a perfect excuse to rock a dress.

While you can certainly wear any type or color of dress that your heart desires (pun intended!) on V-Day, black (think LBD), red, pink, and purple tend to be the colors of choice for the holiday. To all of our New Jersey Roo friends out there, the December 2013 LifeStyle Report of the New Jersey LifeStyle Magazine is out, and we're so proud to announce that we've been featured in their Holiday Gift Guide! Their The LifeStyle Report Holiday Gift Guide lists their last-minute treasures for everyone on your Holiday gift list, so it's quite an honor that we were included amongst their favorite finds. Two of our brand new products were listed: our Sweetie's Anne Lace Ballet Flats and our Leopard Purse! The flats are fabulous lace ballet style shoes with a knot detail and clear stone detail. They are the perfect shoe to sweeten up any social occasion dress if you don't want to go with heels. The Leopard Purse is an envelope clutch that is a perfect way to glam up any outfit. It's currently not available on our website, but can be purchased at our store in Linwood, NJ.

  That's not all that's in the December LifeStyle Report, though! The magazine also has a whole article on what to wear at Holiday parties: gold, of course! Of their selection, they wrote, "These picks for the holiday season will have you effortlessly standing out from the crowd and looking, and feeling, like a celebrity. This year, make your holiday statement piece a head-turning gold dress, suitable for any occasion.

When it comes to choosing a long dress, they featured one of the dresses that we have at Rissy Roo's: Tony Bowls style Tony B 2351317! It's a sequin dress with a halter neckline and pleated waistline that's accented with a contrasting hand-beaded medallion. Say YES to White after Labor Day!

Lots of rule-breaking trends this season, including the always infamous no white after Labor Day rule. These rebellious celebs are going against the rules of fashion by keeping white throughout the fall and winter. It's all about how you accessorize and the type of fabric.

This is one trend you can use for your next formal event; it's definitely perfect for the Holidays. If anyone comments that you're not supposed to be wearing white, they're just not up on the latest fashion trends!

Finding the perfect dress to wear to a winter wedding can be difficult; you want to wear a cute dress, but it's cold out! Whether a formal or semi-formal wedding, here's some ideas that are perfect for showing off your fashion sense during the one month when dresses aren't quite as easy to wear.

Formal Wedding

This type of wedding usually means it's good to wear a long dress, since it's the winter time. Black is the perfect color for winter because the darker color is always appropriate, no matter what the setting.  It can also always be dressed up or down with accessories, depending on just how formal the black-tie affair is.

The first dress is La Femme style 18928, an elegant and classic jersey gown with satin accents and criss-cross satin straps under the bust. The back also has satin straps that criss-cross with a rhinestone brooch in the center. Since it's a simple black gown, you can have a lot of fun changing the look with accessories.

The second dress is a fancier number that's perfect if you know the event you are attending is on the more formal side. It's Alyce Jean De Lys style 29602, a satin and lace gown with a scoop-neck. The cap sleeves and black lace make is so perfect for the colder months!

 Semi-Formal Wedding

If it's a semi-formal wedding, a cocktail dress is the perfect choice. This type of wedding allows you to be much more flexible with your outfit and more easily show off your style. Our two favorite cocktail dresses for a winter wedding are below - the longer sleeves make them so perfect for the winter time. And, since they're just classic cocktail dresses, they can be worn for a number of other occasions, too!

For a funkier look, we love Jovani style 74207. It's a short cocktail dress with 3/4 length sleeves and illusion detail that shows off just enough skin, while still having that classy look for a wedding.

for a cocktail dress on the more formal size, we love Alyce Jean De Lys style 29524. This chic and classy short dress has a lace over satin fabric with a scoop neckline and 3/4 length illusion sleeves. Best yet, it's a classic little black dress that can be word to many different events!

Wearing the color white is usually reserved for the summer months, but this year it's been given new life, with celebs and fashionistas wearing the color well through the winter! Taylor Swift has been seen wearing the color at a handful of red carpet events, with her rocking the color most recently at the Grammy Awards.

While it's not the most practical of colors, we love white because it brings elegance to any outfit. When it comes to wearing it, don't try to match shades - embrace the subtleties that comes with wearing pure white vs. ivory vs. cream, and don't be afraid to match different textures and fabrics. Don't wear white tights with the outfit, otherwise you risk starting to look like a ghost! Most importantly, any questions alluding to Labor Day are best simply ignored - they clearly just aren't a fashionista! Wear the color with confidence and pride.

If you have a formal party to attend soon, it's definitely a great color choice to feel part of the Winter Wonderland with all the snow that's been falling lately! When it comes to the classic evening gown, we love La Femme style 18631. It's a sheath gown with a v-neck fully embellished bodice flowing into a chiffon skirt. The back has thick embellished straps that form an X in the middle, and dips to a low open back.

Tony Bowls TS11368 is perfect if you're looking for a short prom dress or cocktail dress for a Winter Formal. It's a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, silver studded bodice, and a gathered illusion skirt.

For the ball gown look, check out Tiffany Designs style 16901. It's a strapless sweetheart ball gown with an iridescent stacked sequin bodice, a chunky A.B. rhinestone belt, and a full tulle ball gown skirt. It's a true princess gown!

Since the winter has taken a turn for the ridiculously cold this week here on the East Coast, the talk at Rissy Roo's has been all about wearing winter ready outfits. And, what we mean by that is finding fun tights to wear with our dresses! After all, why should a little snow stop us from rocking cute dresses??

We do realize, though, that there tend to be 2 types of women in the world: those who don't like tights, and those who obsess over tights. Since we can't bear to part with our dresses and skirts during the winter time, you can guess that the staff here at Rissy Roo's are quite obsessed with tights! That's why we've picked out our favorite funky pairs that we found on Pinterest. Tights can be found in so many different styles, colors, and patterns that they really are a great way to bring some personality to any outfit. So, we're hoping that we'll convince those non-tight-wearers out there to give it a go and put those dresses back on!

Fun Shapes

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we thought these tights with hearts on them were too cute! Find a sexy black or red dress to wear with them, and you'll be ready to show off your V-Day spirit. If hearts aren't your thing, you can find tights with all sorts of fun shapes on them - everything from classic polka dots to funky geometic shapes, so keep a look-out for something that you feel matches your style and don't be afraid to try it out!

Since lace is such a hot trend right now, we love the idea of rocking the look in tights, rather than the normal shirt or dress. It gives a fun, new way to wear the look and be on-trend, while showing off your unique style and deviating from the norm a little.

Of course, with it being winter right now, you can't go wrong with winter-inspired tights! Look for ones that mimic a cozy winter sweater. A lot of these tights even come in thicker fabrics that are perfect for staying warm in the cold weather. We especially love the ones with little reindeer on them!

Ombre has been a hot trend on everything from hair to dresses, so it's no surprise that the look as even made it to tights! If you love wearing bold, solid color tights, this is another great way to rock them.

We love all clothes with floral prints, and we especially love the idea of floral printed stockings matched with a plain, solid color dress. It's a great way to let one accessory do all the talking!
