While many viewers were excited to see Daft Punk perform and learn who would win album of the year (surprise! It was Daft Punk), we were just excited to see all the incredible outfits. Every year, we try to predict who will have the most stunning looks, and we think our picks hit it out of the park!

    roos1Beyonce

We were absolutely counting down the seconds to see what Beyonce would wear – after all, she's the epitome of fierce. Lo and behold, she didn't let us down! Sexy, sophisticated, and unique, Beyonce's mermaid-silhouette gown highlighted her knockout curves: a classic cream and lace combination that was brought to the next level with the perfect red lip.

If you want to recreate the texture, color scheme, and silhouette of Beyonce's gown, try this ivory lace mermaid dress by Sherri Hill.

56th GRAMMY Awards - Red CarpetAnna Kendrick

We think Anna Kendrick knows how to show some skin without overdoing it. Her amazing dress was an understated gray-tone with trendy bodice cutouts and embellishments. The slit on the skirt makes her legs look miles long! She styled it with effortless loose curls for an overall classy-but-sexy vibe.

    Get the Look!

Anna Kendrick stood out at the Grammys without wearing bright colors, and you can too. Cop her monochromatic look and sleek silhouette with this similar gown from Jasz Couture. Gray is anything but boring when you make use of tasteful cutouts and up-top embellishments.

    Sarah Hyland

Who says that cocktail dresses have no place on the red carpet? Sarah Hyland is nothing-but-glamour in this black-and-white color-blocked cocktail-length piece. We think the sheath silhouette is extremely modern and the minimal accessories let her outfit do all the talking. It's the perfect vintage-inspired look!

    Get the Look!

If you're looking for a vintage silhouette, a short hemline, and black-and-white color-blocking, this geometric piece from Johnathan Kayne is just what you're looking for. Style your hair with plenty of volume, use minimal accessories, and find yourself a strappy pair of black stilettos to bring it all together.

    roos4Ariana Grande

Nothing says feminine like tea-length and floral! We love this dress because it's so unique – you don't usually see dresses that are not-quite-floor-length but not-quite-cocktail-length on the red carpet, and Ariana Grande absolutely rocked it. Plus, while it seems like a lot of other attendees went for muted color palettes, she went ahead and did a pattern. She looks so flirty and fun!

    Get the Look!

This polka-dot dress by La Femme has a similar silhouette and a fun pattern that imitates Ariana's cute look. The mesh overlay neckline gives off a retro vibe that we absolutely love. You can't go wrong with a simple pair of pumps, and there's plenty of room to play around with any color jewelry and accessories!

  • Steal Rita Ora's Style from the EMA Awards!

Who tuned into the EMA Awards this past Sunday, November 10th? We sure did! There's nothing more entertaining than music and dresses, and when the two are put together it ensures a great time!

There were many fashion do's and a few fashion don'ts! According to Perez Hilton, Rita Ora was "Blah in Black" at the 2013 EMA's.

Rita Ora at the 2013 EMAs

Although Rita's dress at this year's award show was deemed "blah" and "boring", her unique and daring dress from last year's EMA awards caught our eye and had us gushing so much that we're still talking about it!

    Rita-Ora-2012-MTV-EMAs

We love a good ball gown. Especially one that's red.. and LACE! Rita looked like a million bucks from head to toe and we're going to show you how to accomplish this lavish look!

    Mac Duggal 61393R

Mac Duggal style 61393R is so similar to the dress Rita Ora is wearing that you shouldn't be surprised if you're accidentally mistaken for the starlet. We adore the way the nude illusion leaves room for the red lace to really pop and catch eyes!

    natural toned lips

Rita decided to go with a red lip, which we think is fabulous, but if you want to tone the look down a bit you could go for a more natural make-up approach as shown in the picture above. Finger Waves are also a MUST! Finger waves and lace give off a very vintage vibe; which is why the two go together perfectly.

    Accessories

Lastly, you can't forget your accessories! Try to keep the bling to a minimum because the dress makes a huge statement on it's own! We chose the Johnathan Kayne Austria - Swarovski Austrian Crystals heels, the Helen's Heart (JB-PD00339) Gold Bracelet and the Helen's Heart (E06245) Gold Crystal Stone Earrings.

With last year's outfit in mind, we're not surprised that Rita landed on the "blah" list this year. Any dress is sub-par compared to this goddess gown!

  • Grammy Awards 2013 Red Carpet Fashion

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center on Sunday, February 10th, and the show was amazing! All of the acts were great, but we were so blown away by Taylor Swift's ode to Alice in Wonderland opening number. Of course, our eyes were glued to the red carpet, though, watching all of the ladies' fashionable outfits! Check out our favorite four looks below:

We loved Carrie Underwood's black embellished mermaid gown. It was such a classy look, and so perfect for prom! Our favorite number to get a similar look is Night Moves style 6652. It's a sexy, mermaid shaped gown with a strapless, sheer bodice. Crystal and beaded lace appliques accent the gown throughout that give it a similar embellished look to Carrie's gown.

Alicia Keys rocked the cut-out look in such a classy way! Especially after Grammy attenders were told that their outfits must be more modest this year, Alicia still looked sexy and showed some skin in style. For a similar look, we love Dave & Johnny style 8723. It's a long black matte jersey dress with side cut outs and a beaded bust and straps.

Green has been a very popular color this year ever since Pantone announced that Emerald Green is the 2013 Color of the Year. So, even though it wasn't the official Emerald Green, we loved that Katy Perry rocked a sexy mint green gown at the Grammy's. To get a similar look, check out Flirt style PF4150. Elegance and glamour definitely steal the show in this sexy ball gown that features beautiful cascading jewels. It has a caught-up skirt with a high front slit and corset back closure that adds to the drama.

Beyonce Knowles stole the red carpet rocking a black and white jumpsuit, rather than the usual gown. She looked absolutely stunning and classic, as it hugged every curve of her body. Jumpsuits are definitely going to be one of the new trends this prom season, so we were amazed to see Beyonce rocking the look! One of our favorite prom jumpsuits that remind us of Beyonce's is Claudine for Alyce style 2232. We love it because while you can be different by rocking a jumpsuit, you can still get the classic gown look with the long overskirt that comes with it.

  • What's Your Prom Dress Style?

It can be very exciting to start looking for your perfect prom dress, but if you don' t have an idea going in of what you want, it can also turn into a very long process! So, before you begin searching for your dream dress, start thinking about what type of dress you're looking for. We'll be posting more about different types in weeks to come, but below are some basics to think about while it's still early on in prom season. They are in no particular order, and you'll find that you have no preferences towards some of the different features - it's all about finding the few details that you know you want in your dress!

    1. The most basic of all questions: Short Dresses or Long Dresses? If you have a preference one way or another to this, it's a quick way to weed out a whole bunch of dresses! If you go with long dresses, this opens up many more questions, as there's different style long dresses to choose from: mermaid, ball gown, and evening gowns. Of course, if you can't decide between the two, the trendy Hi-Lo dress look may be a good option for you - it's a nice way to get both looks in one! Best of all, most Hi-Lo dresses have detachable skirts, so you really can wear the dress both ways.

    2. What color dress do you want? If you have a favorite color that you know you want to wear, this can be a great place to start. There's so many options out there when it comes to color, so you definitely won't find yourself limited!

    3. Is there a certain style you want? Some examples to consider are: the classic Cinderella ball gown, an edgy Glam Rock look, Vintage, or rock some fringe in a Flapper style dress.

Another fun way to find your prom dress style is to take the many quizzes online that match your personality to a dress! Seventeen Magazine's "What's Your Prom Style" quiz is a great one to check out!

  • What to Wear to a Masquerade Ball

Halloween is near, so we wanted to have a little fun this week and talk about planning for a Masquerade Ball! Dressing for a masquerade is very different from the normal Halloween costume party. A masquerade is traditionally formal or semi-formal, and may have a specific theme to it.

    Finding the Right Attire

If the dress code is formal, men should be in tuxedos and women are expected to wear gowns. If it is semi-formal, men can wear suits and women can wear a more casual dress, like a cocktail dress.

Choosing the exact type of dress you buy will also depend on the theme. For instance, if there is a Victorian or Shakespearian theme, your attire should reflect this. But, if it is a more general masquerade, you can choose a classic gown or cocktail dress. Below are some of our favorite dresses for a formal and semi-formal masquerade party.

    Choosing your Mask

Having a masquerade mask is the other essential piece of your outfit. You can wear a small mask that only covers the eyes, or a larger one that covers your whole face. There are usually no limitations on the type of mask you can wear. You should fine a mask that is unique to you and your personality; just make sure that your mask compliments your outfit. Some masks can be very elaborate, with gems and oversized noses, while others are much more simple. Another option is to purchase a plain one and decorate it yourself.

If you don't have a masquerade to attend, but still need a Halloween costume, dressing up like a masquerade ball attendee can be fun, too! It's as simple as finding a formal dress and choosing a mask to wear with it!

  • Prom Girls, Beware!

Prom night is fast approaching. Ladies Beware!

Prom girls, be smart. Your dream dress could be a fake! The prom industry’s leading designers are still fighting the ongoing battle with fraudulent internet sites selling counterfeit prom dresses to unsuspecting teenage girls and their families. Companies are representing these dresses as authentic garments, but what the customer is receiving is a knock-off of sub-par quality, leaving them feeling scammed and distraught.  Some are not receiving any dress at all!

    Rissy Roo's

Protect yourself. Before purchasing a prom dress via the internet, check the designer’s website for a list of authorized retailers. Also, be aware that designers such as Jovani, La Femme, Mori Lee, Sherri Hill and Tony Bowls set an MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) that all authorized retailers must follow. Meaning, that if you are able to find the dress at a price lower than the MSRP, chances are it’s a scam. Do not buy it! Another way to ensure you are receiving the real deal is to call the company’s contact information. The most reliable companies, like RissyRoos.com, offer customer support and toll-free lines for your convenience in placing your order with a real person.
