Prom 2014

The 2014 Golden Globe Awards were held this past weekend, and with comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey as the hosts, it couldn't have been any more fun to watch! This was the 71st Annual Golden Globes, which celebrates the best in TV and film over the past year. You can read about all of the winners on the Awards page of the Golden Globes website, but just to list our favorite win of the night: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture - Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle!

Now, to the good stuff: the red carpet fashion, of course! From our favorite winner of the night, Jennifer Lawrence's white gown, to Leslie Mann's lace peplum dress, to Kaley Cuoco's elegant floral gown, there were so many gorgeous looks worn last night. So many new prom dresses have been coming in for the Prom 2014 season, and one of our newest favorites is Sherri Hill style 11068. We're not loving the look just because it's a perfect way to wear the two-piece trend, though. We also love it because actress Bella Thorne models Sherri Hill 11068, and looks so beautiful doing it! After all, the Bella Thorne Sherri Hill match-up is always one that we love here at Rissy Roo's.

Because we love the way that Bella looks in this dress so much, it is our Dress of the Week for this week! This brilliantly designed evening gown from Sherri Hill is a great way to wow the crowd. The beaded high neck sleeveless top will turn heads, finishing the look off with a long slim skirt with a beaded waist. It's a great way to wear the sexy two-piece prom dress look without showing off too much skin. It's also such a classic look that it can be worn to so many different types of formal events, not just prom. Other than prom, we especially love this look for a holiday party or a wedding!

Style 11068 isn't the only Sherri Hill dress that we're loving for this coming Prom season, though. The dress designer has come out with so many new stunning styles for Prom 2014 that it's almost impossible to pick a favorite! We always love Sherri Hill dresses, but this season's looks seem to be better than ever. From two-piece looks like Bella wore, to pretty floral designs, elegant lace, and soft tulle, there's so many unique and gorgeous looks to choose from. And, of course, Bella isn't the only celebrity wearing the dresses, either - if you haven't heard yet, Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson has her very own line this year called Sadie Robertson Live Original! We hope that you love the Sherri Hill Spring 2014 dresses as much as we do!

We're so happy that this week Jacquie Lee made it to the Final 3 on The Voice, but we're still stuck on her performance from last week! Last Monday, Jacquie was one of the Top 6 to perform on The Voice, where she blew the crowd away singing "Cry Baby" by Janis Joplin and "The Voice Within," which was dedicated to her coach, Christina Aguilera.

Her beautiful singing voice wasn't the only reason we were blown away by Jacquie, though. The dresses she wore were just so beautiful! Not only that, but you can wear them, too, because they were by dress designer Sherri Hill! Check out what she wore below - they're perfect looks for an upcoming Holiday party or for Prom.

The two-piece gown that she wore while singing "Cry Baby" is Sherri Hill style 11068, one of designer's newest looks for Prom 2014! It's a brilliantly designed evening gown with a beaded high neck sleeveless top and a long slim skirt with a beaded waist. The top and skirt sit at just the right place around your waist to give a figure-flattering look. And, it's definitely an elegant way to wear the hot crop top look for a formal event, showing just the right amount of skin. Best yet, it's a style that can be worn to a number of different events, whether a formal holiday party or prom.

Jacquie also belted her heart out singing "The Voice Within" in the elegant cocktail dress Sherri Hill style 4304. It's a beautifully beaded cocktail dress that features an intricately beaded bodice, cap sleeves, and a high neckline. Definitely just as elegant of a look as style 11068, just in a shorter style! It's a perfect look for any holiday formal or semi-formal event, or even Homecoming!

Payton Rae, the 18-year-old country music star whose global fan base has generated over 13 million YouTube hits for her music and videos, is onto her next project! Gone Girl, a four-song EP of original music, is scheduled for release on December 17, and she's already released her newest song from the album: Gone Girl. It's a fun song that's definitely full of girl power - check it out:

Payton Rae is the face of ALYCE Paris, so of course our favorite part of the video was seeing the brand new ALYCE Paris dresses that she was wearing in the video! And, we especially loved that part of her video consisted of walking the ALYCE Paris runway!

In the runway scenes, she wore Claudine for ALYCE style 2311, a short dress that has a beaded bustier illusion waist bodice with large stones on the waistband and a metal fabric skirt. Definitely very rocker chick, just like Payton!

In some of the other scenes, Payton wore ALYCE Paris style 4370, a beaded tulle cocktail dress with deep V-Neck and open back. It's such a perfect look for the Holidays!

That's not all from Payton and ALYCE Paris, though! Along with the new song and EP, Payton will be going on a tour that's sponsored by ALYCE Paris, named after her new song, "Gone Girl." The tour will kick off in Chicago on Jan 20; stops in Boston, Columbus, OH, and Augusta, SC will take place, with additional cities (and further details about the tour) announced at PaytonRaeMusic.com. So, keep a look-out for when Payton will be stopping by your town!

We are so excited for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiere on November 22nd, that not only are we re-reading the novel, we're also finding ways to celebrate the release! Two of our favorite names in the fashion world, CoverGirl and Precious Formals, have been all about the Hunger Games. CoverGirl recently released a new makeup collection, called the Capitol Collection, in honor of the second Hunger Games movie. They've created signature looks for each of Panem's 12 Districts, from Luxury to Mining (and everything in between). Best yet, dress designer Precious Formals loved this idea so much that they recently showed how you can perfectly pair CoverGirl's district inspired makeups with their dresses for a complete look. Read on and pick a district to represent at your Prom or during the Holidays!

This makeup was created by CoverGirl for District 1. Precious Formals recommends pairing the makeup with Style L46736, a mermaid evening gown that has shimmery golden lining that peaks through the gaps of the gown's lace-and-sequins overlay.

The makeup in the above picture was created by CoverGirl for District 2. Precious Formals style L9034 is the perfect dress choice for this district's representation of Masonry. Silver groups of sequins accent the body, scoop neckline, and sheer long sleeves of this chic and flirty dress.

District 3 represents Technology, and CoverGirl's District 3 makeup and Precious Formals style P46728 are the perfect pair for this district. Multi-hued sequins create intricate Aztec tribal prints throughout this trendy short dress, with the exception of the neckline's small gemstone embellishments.

CoverGirl's District 11 makeup would look beautiful with Precious Formals P9060 to represent Agriculture. Sequins cover this plunging-halter gown until just below the hipline, where the sequined pattern spreads out to reveal a sheer floor-length skirt.

Lastly, District 12 is where the protagonist of The Hunger Games, Katniss, is from, and the dark colors with just the right hint of yellow/gold used in CoverGirl's District 12 makeup and Precious Formals style P9037 are a perfect representation of it. The sheer-paneled slits cut diagonally across the bodice and straight down one side of this sexy slitted gown makes Style P9037 particularly unique and reminds us of Katniss' braid!

And the Miss Universe crown goes to... Miss Venezuela, Gabriela Isler! The Miss Universe 2013 pageant was held Saturday night at Moscow's Crocus City Hall, and the crown was passed on to the beautiful Gabriela. Miss Universe 2012 was our very own Miss USA Olivia Culpo, so we're sad that the USA will no longer be representing Miss Universe for the next year, but so happy that Olivia is being succeeded by such an amazing woman!

This was the 62nd Annual Competition of the Miss Universe Pageant, and Gabriela had quite the competition this year! She beat out contestants from 85 other countries to take the crown home, which is Venezuela's 7th Miss Universe win. Gabriela is 25 years old and works as an anchor for Venezuela's Venevision television. Her broadcast experience definitely showed through during the competition last night, and we're sure will continue to serve her well during her one-year stint at Miss Universe.

Gabriela definitely had all eyes on her throughout the night, from the costume competition to the swimsuit competition. But, we absolutely loved the silver sparkly gown that she wore as she accepted her crown. If you love the look as much as we do, it's one that you can wear to Prom or your next pageantM! Primavera style 9696 is a dress for the new Prom 2014 year that's so close to Gabriela's. It's an intricately designed ultra-feminine long sleeve gown with a sexy plunging neckline and accessorized with diamonte broche. It's sure to be having you look like a queen all night long, just like Gabriela!

What's next on Gabriela's list? She was already seen modeling in a jewel-studded swimsuit that's valued at $1 million. The Yamamay Million Dollar Swimsuit made as a special surprise for the Miss Universe winner, and it definitely looked perfect on Gabriela!

Halloween may be over, but there's so many costumes that we're still obsessing over! The costume that former Miss USA Rachel Smith wore on Good Morning America's Halloween special is definitely one that we cannot forget. Why? Because she wore a Faviana dress!

 The Miss USA 2007 beauty queen wore Faviana style S7150 to dress as Giuliana Rancic, the E! News co-anchor, for the GMA Halloween Special. Giuliana is known for her on-point fashion sense, and the chiffon gown that Rachel wore definitely had her sparkling just like the journalist! Of course, with Rachel's own past as a beauty queen and as a co-host on the show OnTheRedCarpet, could we have really expected her to wear anything else on Halloween??
